Is that right Thanks Jessica I think the cake was like $215. I'll have to find a copy of the invoice. I sent a pic of a cake we liked, and while this wasn't exactly it ... the cake was still great and it tasted amazing! I've never had cake that good, really.

Those are my sweet nephews (my brothers kids). They were so adorable!!! Our photographer was Amy Martin (she is a BDW member, but not a heavy poster) ... and Mary Beth Tyson came with her as the second photog. They were ssoo great!!!
  3. My photog got these to me for tomorrow's AHR ... and of course I couldn't wait to share them with BDW as well!!! I can't wait to see the rest!!! I hope you enjoy!
  4. Our GM got their shirts for the ceremony (about $60 each) and Reef Dram sandals (with the flask in the heel) filled with Dominican Rum. The BM got beach bags with their name embroidered on it. The bags were filled with Mamajuana (Dominican drink we bought upon arrival), City Lips lip plumper gloss, knock-off Tiffany starfish necklace ($0.99 each + shipping on eBay), Pashminas, flip-flops, earrings to wear with their dress ... it seems like I am missing something but that's all I can remember right now.

She can't understand why if it's all-inclusive why you have to pay for the reception! So it was a hard conversation to have with her! My Mom could never (and still doesn't) understand that. I have tried to explain that it's b/c we are having staff work directly for us as opposed to using the general AI facilities which are open to everyone ... and while in a sense it DOESN'T make sense that it is so much extra -- it does when you think about them focusing on YOU and your guests instead of any Joe Schmoe who walks up. Although, the cost is always a bit much. :-) But, it was definitely worth every penny for us!
  6. Our BM dresses are from Bari Jay -- we found the best online deal at 2008 Prom Dresses - Wedding Dresses - Bridemaids - Mother of the Bride Gowns. Free shipping to each girls address instead of having to have them bulk shipped, which allowed everyone to order on their terms ... plus a 10% discount code. It was the least expensive all-around deal I found in all of my searching. And everyone was super-pleased with the Customer Service -- they all arrived before the estimated delivery dates. They all love their dresses and say they will be perfect cockatil dresses to wear again.
  7. I totally forgot to do a guestbook for our DW. Now, our AHR is Saturday and I'm not sure what to do b/c some of our DW guests are not able to make the AHR as well...
  8. Absolutely you can do that for your MOH. My MOH had the same bouquet as the other BM's ... but a different bouquet jewel ... however, she was in a different dress than the others to allow her to stand out. I think it is a nice gesture to do that ... so I think the red and white roses for her will look beautiful!

I always have crazy dreams. LOL -- that is too friggin' funny!!!! So, I talked with my BD photog, and she can get me another book!! I am sssooo relieved about that! And I talked to Tom and he said he's totally bummed but knew I was already crying over it so he didn't want it to seem like more of a big deal (then came me explaining how he needs to act like these things matter since us ladies put so much, time, energy, money and thought into it). Anyway, I'm going to reorder it next month (after my Stimulus check arrives!) and Tom says he's going to take it with him when he is out of town on business (which is pretty much weekly). So I feel much better now. :-)
  10. Oh, I like it! I love that its gold instead of silver (probably partial since my accent colors were gold, lol). What type of veil? I think a champagne veil would look great as a complement to the headpiece.
  11. I think it looks great! Absolutely fabulous! So creative and fun!
  12. It all depends on what people can afford. It ended up costing our guests about $1000 for 3-nights (that price included their airfare) and we had 40 people come. Some extended their trip up to a week, others could only do the 3-nights. You can also offer nearby options that are not as expensive. Our photographers stayed at a neighboring resort and were able to extend their trip for 5-nights for the same amount of money. We narrowed our initial list to 5m then picked our top two. We married at the lesser-expensive one and honeymooned at the higher-end resort. It ended up being the right move for us b/c the luxury resort would have been a bit "boring" for our liviely group of friends and family, but it was perfect for us for our honeymoon. So, do keep in mind that more "luxury" resorts will likely mean less nightlife and bustle ... and I would take into account the type of family and friends you will have coming -- those who want luxury or those who want nightlife, etc.
  13. Yep, may family did -- but only those with International Service (call your provider before you leave to inquire) even had theirs turned on. Tom had his on, but only to retrieve emails and it worked fine. We have Verizon.
  14. I am watching the slideshow now and it is amazing! there are so many fabulous pictures! You look just gorgeous and he is such a cutie!
  15. Awesome! I love the votive holders that you found! And so cool that you poured the candles yourself! Everything looks great!

    Hello!

Hello and WELCOME!!!! There are plenty of DR brides on here and we are all happy to help! Happy Planning! I'm a recent DR bride who couldn't be happier with our choice of resorts! our wedding was perfect!!!
  17. You are smokin' hot in all of those dresses!!!! Seeing you in them makes it easier to choose, as opposed to having to pick from a model picture ... but again -- each dress is TOTALLY flattering on you!!! My personal favorite is #1. I just think it complements your fab body the best, plus I love the detailing! GORGEOUS!!!
  18. Wow! That is awesome! I see I';ve got 2 referrals so far, but I don't even know who they are or if they are regular members or not.
  19. We did this, but let me tell you, we didn't even get through 1/2 of the music on our "Reception Dance Mix" CD's ... so a lot of songs went unplayed, sadly. Our reception was 3 hours and by the time everyone was through with dinner and we started the dance music ... there wasn't a whole lot of time left. So, just keep that in mind. Perhaps play those songs during dinner?
  20. Just got back from Punta Cana. We honeymooned at Paradisus Palma Real, which is reight next door to the Melia. The Melia looks HUGE. Part of PPR shares a walkway (part of the Melia's tram lane) with the Melia ... and the buildings that I saw looked good from the outside. I'm sure you're Melia wedding will be wonderful!
  21. Cool! Just signed up for this one and boy-oh-boy do I have some cool gift ideas!!!!
  22. It was a super easy process for us -- looks like TVT has gotten you all the necessary information. In SC, a notary can legalize the marriage, so we had a notary friend witness us sign the paperwork and she filed it while we were on our DW/HM. Now, the name change (pain in the a$$) process begins.... Good Luck!
