  1. lol. I'm watching it but havne;t paid close enough attention to figure out who is who. :-) not bad though, even though I expected it to suck, he he.
  2. Aaaawwwww.... Great pics! I got teary-eyed lookin at them - it reminded me of how awesome that day was!!! CONGRATS!!!
  3. Love it Rebecca! The shots are to die for and you look amazing! I love all the "detail" shots too -- Carly is right, it adds so much to the memories!
  4. We ate at Bana our first night at PPR and it was just OK. Great atmosphere for a large group, but it was our least favorite meal while at PPR.
  5. How exciting! I hope it works out! We just found a house that we love, and it's For Sale By Owner, but he doesn't want to do a Contingency and we weren't initially planning to put ours on the market until January. So, now we are racing to get it listed and already have had several people just randomly stop to ask if it is for sale, so we are pretty optimistic it will sell fast, so we can put an offer on the house we love!
  6. JellyFish can put together transportation for you for $5/pp. Also, check on Debbie's Dominican Republic Travel Pages - 1,000's of Resort Reviews, Tour, Scuba and Wedding Information and in the forums, search for Mike Fisher. He has a charter fishing and transportation service and was great to work with!
  7. Prices went up the longer we waited to book. We had people coming from the East Coast mostly (SC/NC/VA/MD/DC/NY/NJ) and one from Denver. The NY/NJ and MD/VA/DC flights were the most affordable (my parents traveled for $99 each way). But, gas prices have gone up significantly since then ... Look into SpiritAr and USA3000 -- they are smaller airlines that gave my family the best rates. DH and I paid $600 each and flew from CLT to PUJ non-stop on US Airways.
  8. Wow what a fab planning thread --- and you did ssoo much putting even this thread together! WOW! Everything is going to be amazing! Great, great work!!!
  9. lol. Great thread! Never had heard of this, but I'm sticking with tampons!
  10. I've heard great things about AQUA. My DH's parents live on Hilton Head ... I know it is going to be ssooo perfect!!!!
  11. Gosh I haven't been in YEARS!!!!! But I used to live close by so I've benn numerous times! Let me know what it's like these days!
  12. It's definitely different in DR than in Mexico ... lots more DR red tape ... but it's possible. I would also recommend the Symbolic Ceremony in the DR and church ceremony to sign papers beforehand, but I know that can ruin the 'romance' of it, especially if your family is set on a religious ceremony. If that's the case, email the WC's at your top resort pics and ask about the Catholic priest and your ceremony location options. While it can't be on the beach, I know a Catholic priest IS available for a slightly higher fee and some of the location options are beautiful (like the PPC gazebo or Lobby Garden).
  13. Having honeymooned at PPR, I would recommend that you do NOT pay for an extra cocktail hour. What we did (at PPC, and it would work the same, probably even better, at PPR) was just let guests know to meet us at either the Lobby Bar or the Gabi Bar at certain times for cocktails. At PPR, those bars were not very crowded, and they are the nicest ... so you can easily mingle in those areas (the Lobby Bar is cooler and has tons of huge chairs, sofas, etc ... so that would be my recommendation) and not have to worry about extra costs.
  14. Vento is FABULOUS! It was our favorite a la carte at PPC by far! We ended up having our Rehearsal Dinner at Marino (Shrimp and Lobster) and it was great!!! We had a few non-seafood eaters and they accomodated those guests with no problem.
  15. Beautiful pics -- looks like your da was picture-perfect! Thanks so much for sharing!
  16. I can only speak to PPC and PPR, but we loved both. HOWEVER ... when we go back, we will return to PPC ... because it was more FUN! It's definitely not as luxurious as PPR, unless you stay in the Reserve, but that's a trolley ride to the beach area. We LOVED the nightlife options at PPC and were disappointed with the lack of nightlife/activities at PPR -- but it also really all depends on what you are looking for.
  17. I just responded to your PM but totally agree with what RZurla said above. The Reserve section of PPC is more comparable to what you will experience at PPR ... so that is an option for guests who want more luxury and less Caribbean feel. Anyway, check out my PM response, it's pretty lengthy, and hopefully that will help! :-) Let me know, I'm happy to answer any other questions!
  18. Can't wait to see your pics and hear all about it! Jan '09 is coming up fast! We almost picked Puerta Plata so I'm really anxious to follow your DW experience!!!
  19. We were married in the gazebo overlooking the ocean at Paradisus Punta Cana, with a beach reception and it was absolutely FANTASTIC. Here is the link to our Pro Pics (its only good for a few more days) but it shows how fabulous the gazebo and beach are!!! Wedding Pictures: http://www.pictage.com/483109
  20. We had one guest flying from Denver, but everyone else was on the East Coast. It's really just all about checking the different flight options ... and the airlines that aren't your big carriers. Not sure if they fly from Cali ... but check flights by USA3000 or Spirit once you get to your layover destination. We had family get great deals and great itineraries on those airlines. We flew direct on US Airways with no issues as well. However, we chose the DR as opposed to somewhere more West Coast based on flight times and prices for our East Coast family...
  21. So glad you love edenH ... I knew you would based only on what we saw from the entrance when we would drive by in a taxi on our way to Steve's Corner Bar, lol! Can't wait to see your pics and hear all about it! ENJOY!!!
  22. Great pic! Better late than never, lol. We had ours done at JC Penney when Tom was home on leave from Iraq ... so they really aren't too good ... so just be happy you got some great ones taken!!!
  23. Thanks for sharing!!! It's always great to hear about others successes and why it works for you. I have started to gain back some of my pre-wedding weight ... and am READY to get back in shape!!!
