  1. Our house won't be officially listed for another week, but we narrowed down our choices to 2 of the homes we want to buy - and have picked our favorite - complete with a pending contingency. So, we just have to keep our fingers crossed that no one comes in with a firm offer on it and that our house sells within 90-days so we don't lose it. I know, all this in the face of the current economy - but if our house doesn't sell, we are fine with expanding it. But we (I) hope it does. Tom's had the house for about 10-years and already done one fantastic renovation, but I really want a home of our own to start our family. In any case, without any further ado, here's the link to the home we are hoping to snatch up: Single Family Home - 165 River Falls Dr, Duncan, SC, 29334 - Realtor.com

But I am up for anything too! If there are any landmarks I need to eat at - I'm in .... although this place sounds fantastic!
  3. I'm flying into O'Hare. My flights already been changed once, but just by like an hour or so. That would be awesome!! I'll keep bugging Tom for the itinerary (it's like pulling teeth!, lol) and let you know ASAP!
  4. lol ... just reread this and saw I had a huge brain far with my first response, lol. I don't know why I thought you wrote engagement "ring." Anyway, I didn't get him a gift. But he left for Iraq a week after we got engaged and I had a surprise going away party for him, which we ended up using to announce our engagement, so maybe that counts...

That is awesome! I can't wait!!! I have never been to Chicago, but Tom has been bunches of times, so he is going to point me in a lot of directions. :-) Once we get closer, I should have a better idea of his schedule and what "mandatory" parties I get to attend. But I fly in pretty early on Saturday morning (like by 9am or so) and he gets in later that day. So, I'll have Saturday during the day free for sure and probably all of Monday. I'm so excited!!!
  6. I'll be in Chicago those dates for a trade show with DH's work. We are staying at the Palmer House and if there are any BDW's in the area, I'd love to meet up for a cocktail, shopping, whatever. :-) I'll have lots of free time since DH will be tied up with work a good bit. Those dates are a Saturday thru Tuesday. Let me know!
  7. Typically, you can't book until 12 months out. Most resorts don't have pricing available until then. We were ready to book earlier than 12 months, but had to wait for the pricing to be published. We had "early bird" rates from 11 months out until 8 months out. Then, rates went up a bit, so the earlier guests can book, likely the better rates they will able to secure. Same goes for airfare.
  8. Haven't really ever heard of this, although I know of many guys who wish they could wear their wedding band early. I presume if he'd like something, get him one. :-) But what about after the wedding? Will he wear it then as well?

  10. Mine is 5X5 and I love it. It's 20 pages, I think, and has about 30 images. I did my own hair and make-up, and didn't get digital images, but the book was included and I got a fabulous deal!

Saying it is outrageous....is it outrageous? I thought for such a nice hotel and it is all inclusive and it includes transfers that it wasn't that bad. I feel like saying to them...then don't go for a week...go for a few days...it is over memorial day weekend...so it is a long weekend....they could go for a few days. They are driving me mental. For a whole week?? That's a steal of a deal, IMHO. Here are our prices (from April 2008, mind you, and I secured these rates in June 2007). For PPC, our double occupancy rate for 3-nights was $559/pp ... plus $179/pp for each additional night -- which would make it $1275/pp for 7-nights, plus airfare, which has ranged from $200-$700 depending on when our guests booked it. And that's the THREE nights - your guests are getting a rate almost comparable to what we paid for 3 nights - and able to stay a week. Tell them to shut up.

  14. Just checked out her site! Holy reasonable! That's awesome! If I ever do another - I'm scheduling it when I'm visiting family in DC! WOW!!! ** You should do the "Get Dirty" special too !!! **
  15. WOW, Shelley! She is naughty sexy! :-) I kinda wish I had been more risque in my shots ... but I guess I can always do it again later. My book is awesome, just definitely more G-rated (thank goodness since it never made it back from the DR and evidently some DR guys are passing it around their town!). How much does Katie cost? She looks pretty pricey. So she does those in her studio, that's cool. I can't wait to see your non X-rated ones, lol! You go, hot mama!!!
  16. My Moms name is Michael, and she goes by Mike. It's definitely different, but I love it! If we have a girl, her name will be Michaela Diane (after both our Mom's). I also love the name Jade Michael, but DH says it sounds like a stripper name. lol, but I love it anyway. My sister has the coolest name: Carli Mac. I always have wished that were my name. :-)
  17. thank you! I felt like an angel that day. :-) I can't wait to live vicariously through your planning process ... and will be in anticipation of December 2009 to see those pics of your son and soon to be DIL!!!
  18. Great stuff! BDW sure does make us great DIY gals, and we certainly have the best OOT bags of any wedding out there! lol.
  19. I normally just breeze over reviews from resorts I am not familiar with, and look for key information about each gals day ... but your review I read start to finish. Wow - I can only imagine the stress you felt and I am sure would have cried from it and thrown up too. Man, oh, man. Bottom line, though - you looked gorgeous and I'm glad you were able to see the bright side through it all, b/c we all know that when all is said and done, you saw the man you'd been waiting for as you walked down the aisle. Definitely good words of caution for future brides at your resort.

It was absolutely perfect and I know your son's will be as well! I am sure you can do a reception area near the gazebo .... but it's kind of hilly there, and deeper sand. Our reception was in an area a little farther down, where the volleyball court is during the day, so the wooden deck was our dance floor. Are you just planning to do the dances at the gazebo, or the whole reception? Can't wait to see pics of the wedding! It will bring back such memories!!!

But Italy and Paris weren't options for us. :-) Have you thought about which guests you really want to attend and which destination they will be most likely to be able to go to? That was a big consideration for us when deciding on locale and even the price of the resort.

  24. haha. Just showed hubby a pic of these costumes and he was like "what is it?". lol. Had to tell him they are German Beer Guy/Gal costumes. Anyway, he was like, "sure, looks good." So, I guess we will be wearing these costumes. I think they're cute. :-)
  25. Yep, Sarah is your girl. Check out the ads on the sides of the forum site - her ad is there as are plenty of others.
