  1. Marino is your only beach view restaurant. I'd really recommend a beach reception privatized with palm fronds over the Marino. It's the lunch buffett restaurant and is huge, so privatizing your reception there will be costly. Also check with the Gabi Beach Bar in the Reserve. It's not on the ocean, but does have a beautiful beach.
  2. That crappy cliche that everything happens for a reason does have a place, and I do believe it's true. You are obviously a strong young woman who will come through all of this with flying colors!
  3. wow - those are some kick ass pics!!!! what type of camera did you use? i could never get self-portraits to turn out that well!!!
  4. I love them! I voted for #3, but would make the localtion font a little bit bigger, or darker in color. It's little hard to read as-is. But they are all beautiful! Great DIY job!!!
  5. WOW that is BEAUTIFUL!!!!! And only $289 - are you kidding? That is unreal! And it looks like it fits you great! WOW WOW WOW!!!!
  6. My DH always says that a man's self worth comes from his job, first and foremost ... and in a lot of ways I do agree. When a man loses his job, he can lose a lot of his pride and self-esteem as well, and can feel like he is a failure (I am sure this is true of us women too!). SO, this "don't want to get married" bit could be his 'easy way out' for not feeling as though he is a good provider. Is he actively looking for work? Have money saved? Times like these should bring you closer together b/c you lean on and rely on each other - not tear you apart ... but everyone is different. If he's not willing to talk things out or make a deicision, the other gals are right - you are going to have to make a move for him. It's better to give your guests as much of a heads up as possible - some will probably still go and consider it a vacation ... but that's not your concern. 10 years is a long time, and 2 kids, for this type of reaction from him now. Please keep us posted and vent as often as necessary - that's what we're here for. Lots of hugs being sent your way!!!!
  7. WOW! That dress is absolutely perfect on you! I love it! And I think the necklace looks great. I like more of a choker style with the strapless gown, personally ... but the style of the necklace really compliments your dress!!! BEAUTIFUL!!!! And awesome job at saving so much $$$!! I only had to get a bustle as well, and it was $30!
  8. Beautiful dress and it looks great on you! Love the BM dresses too! They will look awesome with brown sandals! You are getting close!!!!
  9. Sorry, just about everything is gone. I only have 3 longline bras available. One is free (from David's Bridal) one is $40 (Victorias Secret) and one is $20 (FlatteringMe).
  10. I love your long hair - but this is coming from someone who has had short hair all her life and just recently has been able to let it start growing long. If you cut it ahead of time, you can still put it up for the wedding, though. My hairdresser was great at pinning up my shorter hair and it always looked phenomenal.
  11. These are real pearls, so it's pricey, but perhaps it gives you a picture to use as a guide when asking jewelers? PearlParadise.com - Detail
  12. lol. that's funny. but a good photog will avoid those pics ... and hopefully good friends will capture some. hehehe
  13. I know laws vary from state to state, but in SC, a Notary Public can marry you - so since we have a friend who is a Notary, she met us at a friends house and all we did - literally - was sign the marriage license. No vows, etc - so our DR was our only "wedding" and we are so glad we did it that way in order to avoid the translation hassles and extra money for the legal ceremony in the DR - not to mention the waiting period upon our return home. We only had 30 days to add me to DH's insurance, and that would not have been possible if we did the legal documentation in the DR.
  14. In mine, as others mentioned, the travel mugs were one per person, but otherwise the contents were per couple. We had 2 kids, and I did separate bags for each of them with kid stuff and a travel mug.
  15. We had a ton of stuff to take - and we ended up paying for 3 pieces of extra luggage - one was also oversized. Here's what we did, knowing we were going to have the extra baggage fees. If you have friends/relatives leaving from your airport, ask if anyone is packing light and can either take an extra suitcase for you or just pack some things you need in with theirs. We used 2 old suitcases that we did not want anymore, and a HUGE ToughBox that DH had while in Iraq. Those pieces we left behind (the resort employees were more than happy that we did - and we even gave one to our WC and she loved it, saying she could use it for wedding supplies, etc. Most of our "extras" were the OOT bags, so we knew we wouldn't be bringing that back with us. Other items we had family/friends bring back (like my TTD dress, which we just stuffed into a suitcase since it didn't need to be wrinkle-free anymore). You can get pretty creative -- but if you are like us -- plan on some extra luggage fees on the way over, but take old suitcases you can leave behind to avoid extra fees coming home. Hope that helps.
  16. We went back by it again today and talked about the whole guest house/pool house idea and like it more and more. Of course that would be down the road. It's everything we could ask for, plus off the bonus room upstairs is a HUGE attic with vaulted ceilings that could be an additional expansion if we decided to. Our only con is that we had wanted a house with the Master on one side and the other bedrooms on the opposite side, but this house isn't set up that way. But other than that, we don't have ANY negatives. But don't want to get ahead of ourselves. This is a crappy time to be trying to sell our home, so we shall see. I'll keep you posted!
  17. gggrrrrr .... Tom may have Army duty Halloween weekend now, which means he'd have t leave on Halloween afternoon ... which means no Halloween party with him. boo...
  18. 1 per room if it's a couple/family. 2 per room if it's two singles rooming together. Just spend whatever is within your budget. Everyone was different. We probably spent $20-$25 per bag and had 24 bags.
  19. I love the dress. I agree that barefoot sandals would be beautiful!
  20. Thanks ladies! We really wanted a 4br/3ba house, but figure the upstairs bonus room can be another bedroom/guest room if need be. Even with it being 'smaller' than we had envisioned, it has everything else we want ... and room to grow if necessary. We already have some friends in the subdivision and nearby, so that helps too!
  21. haha ... we will all have suggestions ... and will all probably suggest wherever it was we had our own perfect DW! There is so much to consider, but wherever you choose will be perfect!!

And it has a 2-car garage and workshop .... which we could transform into a wine cellar or gardening area. Pus room on the lot to build a guest house, which we really want (lol, separate accomodations for both sets of in-laws...) But after watching the President tonight, it's very scary. Who knows if we can still get the loan and rate we've been approved for. Luckily, our current home is in a sought after area of downtown, and people stop and ask if your house is for sale on a regular basis if its already renovated ... so we have a huge plus going for us in that sense. But, who knows? gggrrrr...
  23. haha ... I know what you mean. :-) That link Alyssa posted is sssoooo helpful, though!
  24. hhhmmmm .... that's weird. I sent the same link to my folks and they opened it fine. I'll copy the pics and repost. Try this link too... Single Family Home - 165 River Falls Dr, Duncan, SC, 29334 - Realtor.com
