  1. Here is the link to my AHR. It was casual, on the deck and inside the bar area of the bar/restaurant that we own. We did a low-country boil and a few other beachy/seafood dishes (our place is an Oyster Bar so it helped make the DW theme easy to carry over!) and I made cupcakes with starfish chocolates. I did all the decor and set-up myself. It was relatively painless and everyone had a fabulous time! http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t21791

  3. Our wedding bands were exactly what we both wanted ... but they were an investment for us. Mine was about $2800 and his was about $1000. However, my e-ring was stolen so I am only wearing my band - so it is more intricate than some. We were both fine with the prices we paid, but it's also relative, based on your budgets, etc.
  4. If it were me, Dress #1 for sure. I even love it in the color shown - but I know that white is going to be gorgeous in that dress as well! Can we see some pics of YOU in the dresses?
  5. Practice shots? WTF?! Those are awesome! I hope you are saving those to add to your BD book! WOW! You are HOT!
  6. Look on the bright side --- FABULOUS 'going out of business' sales and closeouts!!!!! DH and I will be going to get some new things for the house to help it sell!
  7. I love it Shelley! It is so fun! The "JM" in the sand is too precious!!!! A definite awesome keepsake!!!!
  8. Beautiful! I love your colors, location, decor and dress! Stunning!!
  9. Yep, it's still weird. I've changed my drivers license, etc ... but have yet to update my SSN, just for lack of time to sit in the SSN office. I'm getting more used to it now, seeing it in print as my married name ... but it's still weird. I think we become attached to our name since we have it for so long, lol. :-)
  10. Hubby is going to be out of town for Army drill on Halloween now. Boo! But I have some friends (2 couples) who want to go to a big party at a downtown hotel (I get free tix thru work) ... so now I have to change up my costume and find something good for me since I'm flying solo. (I wonder how I could do a "flying solo" costume? - that would be kinda funny).

  12. Your pic didn't show up but I think we paid $250 for our cake. It was for $40 people. This was ours:
  13. WOW - that is, um, interesting! The pics are fantastic - but I REALLY want to know the story behind the chicken suit!!!!! What a fun couple.
  14. PayPal is a godsend - but maybe it will work out and you'll get the price offered after all. You never know. Fingers crossed and dusting you with fairy dust for good luck!

What I've learned from the ladies on here is truly priceless.

  17. Hey Maura (and any other Chicago ladies!!!) .. I'm trying to decide if I should fly up Friday afternoon or just keep my Saturday morning flight. I still have to head back on Monday mid-morning. Tom is free on Saturday, but would love to get drinks or dinner with some BDW ladies/couples. Would Jose be up for dinner on Saturday night too? Otherwise, we can at least do drinks in the afternoon or evening? We really are up for anything. I thought Tom was going to be busy Sat and Sun but since he's free on Sat too he said for me to make plans and he'll tag along if that's okay, lol. I definitely want to get together - just trying to finalize plans and decide if I should come Friday or Saturday. Maura, I know you said both times were good for you - but I know things can change - so just let me know if you have a preference.

I'd like to include a shot of the resort sign in our photo book. Otherwise, I'm pretty much done so that's the main thing I am missing. But any general resort shots would still be great (pool, restaurants, eco-jungle, lobby art) b/c I am going to make another book with wedding and honeymoon pics (a more casual book) just for Tom and I. Thanks in advance!!!! I knew you were going but couldn't recall when! :-)
  19. wow I had to use the AC in the car today, lol.
