But again, I know there were lots of emotions tied up in this and I don't really expect McCain followers to walk around cheering after his concession... Yeah, the booing was very evident during the McCain speech, and you could tell that McCain was very unsettled by how his supporters were handling his loss. But, I think regardless of who won, you were going to hear boos fron the opponents supporters. I applaud McCain for dismissing the boos and for being so visibly disappointed in his supporters for acting/reacting that way.
  2. Love it! And what a steal of a deal! The detailing is beautiful.
  3. I voted with the minority ... but now must look forward to the hope of positive change. There is so much positive energy even here on BDW from Obama/Democractic supporters ... that it gives me hope. Karma - what an awesome realization that the newspapers that you save for your little Hannah will show a a true piece of history. And I am at peace with how genuinely, graciously and eloquently McCain spoke last night when he conceded.
  4. Girl, you go right ahead and be mad, pissed, hurt, tearful ... whatever. I am also shocked that they couldn't mention the fact that they had cruises already booked when you first told them of your plans for an October 2009 wedding. I had this issues, but not with family - it was with one BM. WTF? I say let him stew as well. That's what I did when I got an email from my BM ... and it drove her crazzy and made her call me and confront the situation - which is what should have taken place in the first place. I don't what else to say, except that I am in your corner. Keep us posted and thoughts are with you!!!
  5. very nice! that's quite a heel! I hope you have someone to walk you down the aisle and keep you from wobbling! I can't remember if you are on the sand or not?

Absolutely - one of the reasons I love the USA and our processes. Each and every one of us is entitled to our beliefs and opinions, which can make elections so contentious, even among family and friends. I HATE talking politics, but thought I'd go ahead and point out my opinions in this thread. ;-) I am fine with whoever wins, which all of us in the end are going to have to embrace in order for our country to move forward - but my stand is definitely sided with McCain and the Republicans on this one, despite having always been a Democrat.
  11. I missed it but am checking to see when it will reair! I can't wait to see it!!!

Just wanted to point out that PPC does have more than one wedding per day. There was another wedding the same day as mine. I was married at the gazebo and the other was on the beach. Both of our receptions were on the beach at the same time (except we had palm fronds around our beach reception so we didn't see the other reception.
  13. I think #1 looks more masculine ... but I was having trouble deciding which ring to get for my DH as well - and ended up asking him to help me choose. I'm glad I did b/c although I knew we were going to get him an Irish/Celtic band ... he ended up picking a different one than either of the ones I had narrowed it down to for him.

Starbucks vote promo gets decaffeinated Posted: Tuesday, November 04, 2008 3:36 PM by Carrie Dann Filed Under: 2008, Pete Williams, Making Your Vote Count From NBC's Pete Williams Starbucks, which announced in an ad on "Saturday Night Live" that it would give a free coffee to anyone who came in on Election Day and said, "I voted," has been forced to change its plan. Now anyone who wants the free coffee gets it, voter or not. It turns out that a giveaway to voters could violate election laws in some states that prohibit gifts for voters. While these laws are generally intended to discourage attempts to influence voters, the lawyers were worried the Starbucks policy might be a violation. "To ensure we are in compliance with election law, we extended our offer to all customers who request a tall brewed coffee," says Tara Darrow of Starbucks. Oh geez - there are laws against EVERYTHING these days. ugh! But my Mom said at her Dunkin Donuts (MD/DC area), you had to give up your sticker in exchange for the free donut. hhmmm
  15. Oh CONGRATS CONGRATS!!!! I am sheepishly jealous, since we are TTC but no luck so far! Keep us posted throughout your pregnancy!!!
  16. I am a registered Democrat - born and raised in DC - and really never knew a whole lot else except being a Democrat. ;-) However, I voted McCain today. A lot of my decision has to do with the fact that my husband is in the military. A lot of people don't realize that regardless of who is elected into office, that the war is funded through 2012 ... and my husband is one of many soldiers who will be going back overseas (if not Iraq, then Afghanistan or Darfur) in 2010. I voted for the man - and party - that I believe will best support and protect my husband and others who will be fighting for our country during that time. I need to feel confident that I voted in a way to best ensure my husbands safe return home ... so that he can retire from the military and we can raise a family together. I voted for McCain for other reasons as well (healthcare, not "spreading the wealth", etc ...) ... but that is my main reason. However, there are issues, such as abortion, that I still side with the Democratic party on ... but I had to label my beliefs and priorities based on order of importance for myself and my family. I truly believe that regardless of which party wins ... the US will remain a positive place to live and be proud of and that some of the current uncertainties will subside ... and that a lot of the negatives AND positives going on in our great society will continue - with either McCain or Obama as our nation's next leader.
  17. Chik-fil-A also did free nuggets and there's a BBQ place near my house that did entire free meals (BBQ, side & drink) for voters wearing their stickers.
  18. Oh Martha he is just SSSSOOOO cute ... and none of it was boring! I love hearing all about newborns and how they change your lives! Noah is just absolutely adorable and obviously a dream come true.
  19. We did the passport invites, so the RSVP was a postcard style ... I had our address printed on the backside and it read: Bride's Name Groom's Name Street City, State, Zip
  20. Definitely go for it. I love the first link with the feathers attached (too plain by itself) but I also love the second link too. And I love those pics of the black-dress bride. She totally pulled it off just like you will!!!
