So, I am planning to wait until the wedding night. We'll see how that goes. :-) -

who's getting married in Punta Cana/Bavaro

I really have no particular info on either one of these (my fiancee's parents have been staying at Bavaro when they go and they love love love this resort (they are from Puerto Rico and visit DR annually). Also, my fiancee and his family have stayed at Paradisus in many prior vacations. We are going for a vacation in September -- I can report back when we return! I plan on taking lots of pictures. We may not decide until after the trip which may be cutting it close with regard to sending out save the dates (though those who we plan on inviting already have the informal heads up) but since we are going I feel like I should just wait until I see for my own eyes (this will be my first time in DR, and can't wait His family has also vacationed in Casa de Campo which is another consideration -- looks so romantic!!! I'm not going to be much help here, but I am getting married at Paradisus Punta Cana and have a ton of info the WC has sent me (pics, prices, etc). I've heard great things about Casa de Campo too ... but don't know anything about Bavaro. When you go, if you could take some pics of any locations at PPC that you see that would be good for a reception (75+ people) ... I'm trying to decide between La Barcaza for a oat reception or a reception at the resort. Good luck and happy scouting! Can't wait to hear your feedback! -

WOW! Absolutely beautiful! I love your dress, the BM dresses, the reception looked fun, fun!!! Have you sold all of your stuff? PM me with what you have left if you get a chance! -
I see a lot of posts about songs to walk down the asile to, first kiss songs, recessional, cocktail hour, bridal party introductions, etc. If you are using an iPod, how have you delegated who will be in charge of making sure the songs play at the right time? I'm thinking I need to ask a close friend who is not in the wedding party to take control of this ... but also don't want them to feel they have to constantly monitor the music and not have a good time. I am hoping to use an iPod so we have our own music and don't have to pay a DJ.

Tom gave me a beautiful Tacori e-ring, but I wear one from this site that looks very similar now, because mine was stolen a few months ago -- and Tom is in Iraq with all the papers for the Tacori in his Safe Deposit Box. No one even knows the difference, it is amazing. I got the e-ring knock-off and matching wedding band from Emitations for $60. I am going to keep this fake one even after Tom gets back and I get mine replaced. I will wear it when we are on vacation, etc so I don't have to worry about losing the real thing. Bottom line, if things work out and it really is a just finance thing ... get an e-ring that rocks in style AND price from a site like this ... and upgrade when you are financially able to.

who's getting married in Punta Cana/Bavaro

Or we will have to go down and get married civil then come back and get married catholic with our own church. Prefer to only do it once though... Julie Hi Julie! You can get married in a Catholic ceremony in the DR. Most any resort will be able to help you with the logistics. The Catholic ceremony IS a legal ceremony. However, it will take some time to get the paperwork back. Check out WEDO .:: Taking care of your legal documentation for your Dominican weddings for all he paperwork info (from what I understand, this is one of the best palces to have your paperwork translated, etc. Also check out the forum area at Debbie's Dominican Republic Travel Pages - 1,000's of Resort Reviews, Tour, Scuba and Wedding Information ... as there is a section about DR weddings and specifically Catholic ceremonies are discussed in-depth. We decided to do a quiet civil ceremony in the US and a Symbolic Ceremony in the DR based on the cost and amount of time for paperwork -- hoping no guests will know the difference. We will still consider our DR wedding to be our "real" wedding, as that is when our friends and family will be with us to witness our vows. Hope this helps! -
My photographer's price includes the entire day (from getting ready until reception ends), plus a day-after session. But, we are paying for her to travel to the wedding since there aren't many/any professional photographers who have been recommended and live in Punta Cana.

Bahia Principe Bavaro/Punta Cana Brides

Sweet. I'm a 2008 DR bride, but not that resort. Is that forum strictly a resort-based discussion? -
Has anyone who has used their iPod for the music had any problems with the battery charge? Just wondering if we need to have a back-up in case the charge doesn't hold ... or how you handled it if you played music for several hours straight.

Post your "Must Have" wedding songs
foxytv replied to TammyWright's topic in Wedding Music & Entertainment
I'm still very much working on our list ... but aside from our first dance and the mother & father songs ... our slow songs are going to be the wedding songs of all of our married guests. We have about 20 couples coming and 2 are celebrating either 10 or 40 year anniversaries during our trip. I thought that would be a nice way to show our appreciation for them coming, by finding out their first dance songs and acknowledging them when it starts to play. -
I grew up in Washington DC and my folks are putting our announcement in the paper there. Plus, it will be in the paper here in SC where my FI and I live now. We got the pics taken when he was home on leave from Iraq in March and I am going to submit them, as well as to our University Alumni papers once he returns home from Iraq in September. I hadn't thought much about doing it, but both my Mom and my FMIL have been hounding me to do it, so ... c'est la vie ... I will let that little bit of control. :-)
