  1. They are al knock-off brands, so I personally don't trust the quality ... but their make-up is cheap and I like it to try out new shades. :-) I put in temporary hair extensions a lot and go to Venus Beauty Supply for that kind of stuff. Again, most everything else thereis knock-off stuff, but it's a great place to try new stuff before investing in brand names (and it's perfect for my hair extensions ... a friend just paid $1200 to get them done in a salon and I get my stuff for about $35, do it myself and no one -- and I mean no one -- has been able to tell a difference!!)
  2. I don't think it's any different ... but the taxes and judges rates went up drastically this year. And, you have to have everything translated into Spanish beforehand and then back again afterwards ... and brides have said it's taken up to 5 months to receive their marriage certificate afterwards. Military guidelines give us 30 days after the legal date to show an original certificate for insurance purposes for me to join Tom's policy ... so we really don't have an option of doing it legally there if I am to get on his insurance. Sucks, but at least we've found a great alternative.

Too much hassle in my mind. Besides, its really easy to get married in Cuba, no needles or anything. You're lucky it's easy in Cuba. Wish we'd checked out legalities before deciding on the DR ... but everyone is excited about going there. Our 'document signing' won't count as our wedding date at all, so we won't feel like 2 weddings, since we're truly only having one ceremony. And it saves us close to $1000.

I think that is the more fiscally responsible decision and it ensures we don't have to have any type of ceremony before the one we have with family and friends at our DW.
  7. I forgot to mention that we are getting the "Vow Renewal" package ... which comes included ... but then doing a la carte for any reception stuff and extras. With the amount of people we have coming, the pricefor adding people on to the wedding/reception package deals was wwaayy more expensive than doing it a la carte for us.
  8. I tried LA Weight Loss about a year ago. Spent A LOT of money for nothing more than a non-certified counselor (pretend dietician) to tell me if I was eating the right things. The concept is good but the food they offer SUCKS and I stopped going after only 2 months. $500 ...down the drain.
  9. Our first date was 5/13/2005. However, Tom asked me aout about 6 times for 2 1/2 years before that ... and I consistently told him "no way, not interested." Finally, I asked him out ... he made me work for the date ... but there was no turning back after that. First date was on a Friday the 13th. We got engaged a year and one month later on 6/13/2007 ... and are doing the 'signing of papers' on April 13. So, we're keeping the 13th in play as much as possible (our new lucky number) -- but the wedding will be the following weekend just due to necessary planning issues.
  10. Thought I'd bring this thread back to life in order to let everyone know that we've secured our 'legal signing' date. It's still a long way away ... Sunday, April 13, 2008 ... but we found a notary who does legal ceremonies here and she will do a signing of the documents 'only' for us for $50. So, we don't have to have any ceremony or anything. Just sign the papers and wait a few more days til we get to the DR for our "real" wedding with family and friends. I'm feeling so good about this decision now since it means we won't be exchanging any vows, etc. Yippee!!!
  11. I am purchasing from the a la carte list at our resort ... instead of using the package at all ... because it has many things we don't need/want, and several 'must-haves' for us are not included. As for the room, because of the number of rooms we have booked so far, we have been upgraded to the Royal Service room and have 2 rooms free (so we can help pay for our bridal party with those free rooms!)

Then again, it's so hard to put a number on it, I don't know what I weigh, I jsut know that my clothes are tighter and I am uncomfortable in a bikini, so I jsut want to lose enough that I feel ok again. Same here! I'm not bikini-worthy by any means. I know alot of it has to do with our own self-image ... but I want to feel good about myself when the big day rolls around (not to mention when my man gets home from Iraq next montha dn we reignite the flames!!!) hehe
  13. PS ... Carly and Shelley ... doesn't look like you ladies need to do much work, though!!! Hot mamas!!!!
  14. Hey ladies! She put me on Tenuate first ... but I couldn't sleep and heart was racing. So, stopped that after a week. Then, we tried Meridia ... but it did NOTHING for me. No racing heart but no appettite change either. So, the clincher for me was Adipex (generic name is Phentermine ... the good Phen in the old "Fen-Fen".) No racing heart, sleep good night. But it still worked great for me as an appetite suppressant. I would still be hungry and eat but it gave me better portion control. Coupled with some carido 3x week and minial weight training ... the pounds melted away. 15-pounds in 3 months --fro a size 12 to a size 6-8. Didn't make me crazy but did give me more energy during the day. Not that crack-head feeling, though (like the Tenuate did). Wish I could still take it!! She says all the pills affect people differently, so don't know if you would take to this one as well as I did ... but she worked with me until we found the one that worked best for me. Good luck and keep me posted about what you try and if you like it!!!
  15. My doctor put me on a pill that worked wonders (Finally -- after trying 3 others with no luck) along with exercise -- lost 15 pounds in 3 months. But I haven't exercised once since March (ugh!) and she won't refill the pills since I've lost 15 pounds ... but it's starting to creep back up -- FAST. All this work I did and then fell off the wagon. Tom gets back from Iraq next month and I want to still have the weight GONE. Plus, I've gotta keep it off 'til the April wedding. arrgghh!! I am going to be out of town most of this week -- and am focused on getting back on track ... so regular gym workouts begin next Monday -- along with a personal trainer.
  16. I'll chk my playlist when I get home. I've got a couple on there!!
  17. Can't wait to hear all about Cabo -- and congrats on the legal aspect! Did the nerves go away after it was over? :-) I know I'll be nervous for both parts as well!!
  18. I've got one (my very own tramp stamp). It's a flower in bright neon colors. Hard to explain but it resembles a hibiscus flower or even poinsettia in style, but very colorful. I'll search for the picture of it and post. Hurt like $%^#. Love it but will never get another.
  19. Let me know if you do! It's going to be a few months before I buy the guys shirts ... so if you get them, I'd love to know the quality. They are pretty sharp, and I think the guys would all be happy to wear them!~
