  1. Tracy - I just watched the entire slideshow. AMAZING! First, those are great pics for non-pro pics. Second, your resort looks unbelievably phenomenal. Third, your wedding looked sensational - as did you and Rich! LOVE the first dance pics!!!! Can't wait to see the your PRO pics after all these awesome non pros! DREAMY!!!
  2. I LOVE the back cover and the first page! Awesomely done!!!! Looks like great quality too. I did mine on www.printing1.co.uk. How many pages was yours and what did it cost if you don't mind me asking. I paid about $170 for mine, with shipping included.
  3. Remember, you can bring your own decorations. I would not rely on the resort to make your DW look the way you want. I brought shells and plates and candles and vases for our centerpieces ... set one up w/ sand in our room to show the WC, and then they made sure each centerpiece looked perfect. Then, we packed up the shells, plates, candles, vases, etc and took it home to use for our AHR. It will also likely be cheaper to bring fabric for chair sahses. They overcharge for EVERYTHING ... so a little pre-planning will go a long way.
  4. Wow - I just went to the PPR website to look at prices for next March. They have REALLY gone up on their prices since our wedding in April 2008.
  5. Not sure why there is a lack of contact with them lately .. but there are several gals on here who have used them. Make sure to search the Dominican REpublic area for several threads on Photosouvenir.
  6. Jenn, you may want to scan in and post a copy of the price list if possible. Otherwise now and a year from now you will have people PM'ing you to send it, lol. PS - we didn't do any wedding activities at Jellyfish, but walked there for dinner 2x while on our honeymoon. Absolutely FANTASTIC! I highly recommend it!
  7. $4000 per couple plus spending money sounds like a lot to me. Our honeymoon, for 8-days at PPR was WAY less than that - and we stayed in Royal Service. Is this a rack rate from online or a special rate through a travel agent? If its not a TA rate, I would recommend looking into one. We saved a LOT of money that way and got some freebies thrown in. We got married at Paradisus Punta Cana and while some guests stayed for a week, most stayed 4-nights (although they wish they had stayed more) and it was more like $379pp for 3 nights, plus $179pp per night extra, plus airfare. There isn't much need for spending money, other than tipping and souvenirs. Everything else should be included.. I am very interested to see where your $4000 per person is coming from. It's a little outlandish for Punta Cana - which is overall a very affordable place to go for DW's. And if you are in eastern Canada - I know most airfares are exceptionally reasonable...
  8. That is a great option! My parents would have preferred an English ceremony. We just did a Symbolic Ceremony with the translation and it was great for us, though. Sounds like Pastor York is great, though!
  9. Oh, and to add .... Our AHR was at my DH's bar/restaurant (we closed the upstairs bar and rooftop deck to the public from 2-6pm) - so no cost for the location. Live acoustic music - $300 Wine - I am a wine distributor, so I bought different wines (at cost) which saved $$. Spent $200ish. Beer - We bought cases so we wouldn't run through the bar-stock ... but tapped into the bar stock before 6pm ... so probably $900 in beer. Liquor - cash bar Food - Low Country Boil - I think we ended up paying about $400 for that, b/c we paid actual cost, but it may have been more. Cake - My Mom and I and some friends all made cupcakes and I made candy starfish molds and had a cupcake tower, so minimal cost for that. $35?? Decorations - I bought colored burlap to match some placemats and tablecloths that I got at Tuesday Morning and we re-used our DW centerpieces, with shells, sand and candles as decoration, along with our bouquets. We had over 100 people.
  10. I haven't read through this whole thread ... but my suggestion would be to keep it casual and ask guests to "bring a dish." Others have done that and it worked great. Most AHR's are informal and casual anyway, so a potluck isn't unusual. Just a thought.
  11. Ah, yes, they start to add up fast! And, yes, BDW is most definitely addicted! You can tell from seeing so many already-married DW brides who are still active (like myself!!)
  12. We wanted a DW and hoped as many people as possible could come - but knew the majority would not be able to make it. We had 40 people at our DW. At out AHR, we had over 100. We had it on the rooftop deck of DH's restaurant/bar ... and it was casual. Beer, wine and low-country boil ... plus my Mom and girlfriends helped me make cupcakes and we had a cupcake tower. That was it. I bought decorations that we could re-use and kept the cost to about $2K probably, total. The joy of having a DW and/or AHR is that it is what you make it - and that can mean simple or extravagant.
  13. These are GREAT! I especially love how that hot pink POPS on you! So many awesome pics to choose from! Good luck narrowing it down, lol!!
  14. Those pics are great! I love the uniqueness that your photographer puts into her work. It has that darkly sexy, almost goth feel and its awesome! You should be sssooo happy with them! Your DH is going to go NUTS!
  15. Welcome Melissa! You will find so much help and ideas on this forum! The DR section and DIY section were my two godsends during the planning process! Let us know if you have questions! CONGRATS!!!!
  16. I am still amazed that your Dad would forgo walking you down the aisle to keep the peace with his wife - and that your stepmom would not INSIST that he be there to walk his daughter down the aisle. But, as you said, the dynamics of a blended family are different, I suppose. I will continue to follow this thread and pray that a tangible solution that allows for the true wedding of your dreams!!! xoxo
  17. Your day is almost here and I know it is going to be amazing!! Punta Cana is ssoo gorgeous!!!
  18. We honeymooned at PPR (married at PPC) and the same wedding packages were available at both. I am pretty sure that any beach receptions need to be buffet - so if that is a definite MUST for you, then I don't think PPR will work. The place is beautiful and exceptionally luxurious, though!!!!
  19. GREAT pics! Who was your photog? I think you should be VERY pleased with those pics! And I see nothing wrong with the 'gracias' pic. LOVE the water pics and the last one especially. Very creative!
  20. Then buy it at the duty-free shop at the airport. Also - as I mentioned, PPR has a HUGE mall within walking distance that will have what you need ... and the local vendors literally a short walk down the beach from PPR will let you haggle for pricing. It is a MUCH better idea to get it once you are there. You will have more hassle with customs than you will getting what you need once you arrive. Guaranteed.
  21. Too cute! I was wondering how that turned out! Thanks for sharing!!!
