  1. Here's a link to the thread where everyone has posted their song lists. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/fo...ing-songs.html I'm using The Shrek 'Somewere Over the Rainbow' to walk down the aisle ... and either 'I'm A Believer' by Smashbox or Toby Mac's 'Made to Love You' to walk back with. When FI comes out and right before processional starts, the cue for everyone to sit and FI to get in place will be 'Ground Control to Major Tom.'
  2. NOTHING is right or wrong or necessary or not on your wedding day. It's whatever YOU and FI prefer. You could always have a wrist corsage made instead of a bouquet. Or, as previously mentioned, set it on the table or have Mom hold it (I bet she would be honored).
  3. Oops ... wrong thread though ... they should be in the Flowers, Decorations thread if a Moderator can move this... Also, they come in different colors as well.
  4. LOL. Good luck!!! We want to go to Tahiti or Fiji but figured we'd be a little cost conscious since we're spending so much on the wedding ... so we are just honeymooning in another area of the DR, to save on airfare, etc. We're saving the super-honeymoon destination for anniversary#1. But if you can swing it, go all out, sista!
  5. ABOVE $5.49 each or 6 for $32.94 BELOW $7.60 each or 3 for $19.92 silk gerber daisies - silk gerbera daisies

If you have a ton to do, me recommendation is not to do the fan shape and come up with something that has a template. That's probably the route I will need to take based on the number of guests. Is your template handy or a place I can find one similar?
  8. These are fuzzy since they are from my cell phone ... but hopefully you get the idea... Sorry they are ssoo small. Guess it doesn't really do us much good...
  9. Just looking at different paper cutters per NurseSarah's suggestion for my Program Fans and came across this craft link for wedding supplies. DIY heaven! ... with instructions included for some projects... Floral Designing Supplies for Your Wedding

I think that would really make it special for the gift giver! Just my two cents! What a simple, but PERFECT idea to truly let them know how much the gift is appreciated! And to let them know you put it to good use!!!
  11. Do you know anything about rotary cutters? Wonder if those do the round edges easier than regular scissors? (I'm new to the world of DIY, but am loving it!)

I brought it in to work to ask my gay friend if he thinks the box/bag looks fake. He was like "girl, hell no. That's awesome!"

We have a regular paper cutter at work, but do you use anything special for the round edges ... or just bring a lot of patience to the table with you that day?

The guests will send us checks in the mail and that is nice becase we don't have to wait for one big pay out. Does that make sense? Here is ours Stephanie Fricke and Chris Pelach on Honeyfund.com, the free honeymoon registry feel free to buy us stuff I really like that one too! PayPal does have fees assocaited with it ... (although they aren't 7%). My only thought was that they will know the money is being sent directly to the couple as opposed to feeling like they are actually "purchasing" the gift itself. I guess you could set up the PayPal account any way you want though. Now that's got me thinking I should do it that way... I guess it shouldn't matter either way ... but I have family who want to give gifts, but who I know wouldn't use the registry if they knew it was money instead of what they thought was an excursion or gift...

Here's her website: aylee. I used the same metallic crimson and metallic champagne paper that I've been using for everything else. For the front and back petal, I used Fiskars Texture Plates to emboss a filigree design. The wording is on the champagne petals. I opened the program in the opposite direction for the pics so the last names are covered... I also took inspiration from Rebecca and made Thank you tags for the white fans from Whiteaisle.com. I will put these at each place setting. I'm sure this has alrady come up ... but so many pages to try to read through ... so, how did you cut these? I will need to make several dozen, so not sure if I'm up for hand-cutting all of these pages. But I LOVE them! Suggestions?

  18. The funds are put into an account and you actually simply have that money direct deposited or a check sent to you for the amount (at your request) so you truthfully can use the money for whatever you want ... it doesn't actually purchase tickets for that event. Does that make sense?

IMO anyway, i'd much rather give the gift of swiming with the dolphins over some lame towels! Exactly! I added a bunch of custom options as well to ours. I also chose the option of having the 7% fee taken out of what funds are sent to us rather than having it added on to the gift givers charge. 7% really isn't very much to take out of whatever funds we build up through this. I did only sign up for things we actually want (I broke down a lot of the prices too so it's lots of affordable items rather than a bunch of high-proced things) and we will try to do evrything that is 'purchased' for us. (My sister got us "Horseback riding on the beach" which we will definitely do (although I think the resort offers it for free anyway...) :-)
  20. We signed up at Honeymoon Wishes - Honeymoon Registry where your wedding gift is a Romantic Honeymoon ... plus our TA started a separate account for us. Both are listed on our website, but we're not advertising the registries otherwise unless someone asks. My sister got something for us from the registry for my birthday and said it was simple and unique. It gives people the feeling like they are still buying you something tangible rather than just giving you money, even though in the end you get a check for whatever is purchased, so everyone is happy!
  21. I got mine for $0.01 each, plus $4.98 shipping. But mine have a black cord. The starfish is identical though.
  22. Always worth thinking about. I will say, though, I'm downplaying any of this for my guests until I send out our pre-departure newsletter, where I will list precautions. I don't think it's going to be a problem at all as long as people are careful ... but I have a lot of heavy drinkers, so their "stomach bugs" will most likely be self-induced. LOL. If not, hopefully the alcohol they drink will kill any virus. hehe. But in all seriousness, it is definitely something to be aware of ... but not dwell on. Watch, now I'll be the one vomiting, etc on our wedding day...
  23. Tom and I are paying for everything ourselves. He's giving me several $$K when he gets back from Iraq to add to our fund. So far I've been putting down deposits on my own. I'm happy that we've had enough people book that we get 2 free rooms at the resort thus far, which will help us offer at least a one night's stay to most of the bridal party. My parents are going to host/pay for our MD AHR ... but other than that ... we are doing everything on our own. I'm trying to cover most of the wedding myself and Tom is paying for the honeymoon portion. He's also paying off my car when he gets back and putting a down payment on a new one for me, so I figure I can try to cover most of the wedding.
