I really like this one:ThinkGeek :: Gorillapod Its a really cool tripod that you can attach anywhere. I don't know how I like all the gift ideas. Canned food? I also like the idea of sending pictures on a CD or DVD. I always do this after weddings. If people attending my wedding will send me all the pictures they took on a CD, that would be my favorite gift. I've never seen/heard of that GORILLAPAD ... but it looks AWESOME! I'm totally giving that as gifts now.. (and want one of my own). Here's a gift I have always given at weddings before now. Authentic Model's Weather Glass Barometer (Wall)-WB01 with FREE Cloud/Hurricane Tracking Chart My parents got one years ago and I loved it, so I bought one and it's ALWAYS a conversation piece when people come over for the first time. It's a baraometer you hang on the wall that forecasts the weather. I always make a nice hang tag to go along with it that explains what the water level means, and a little saying like "To make sure you remember that even if things look stormy, it's the sunny days that count. "

My aunt told me once that my Mom is the oly BM from her wedding who she even talks to anymore. I can imagine, because 5 years ago, the "best friends forever"who I planned on havng as BM's are nowhere to be found.

Okay, so I'm a week late, but I joined the Y after work today. Tomorrow at 1pm I go for my Wellness Assessment / Test and to get back on an exercise program. I'm a little bummed b/c they told me the military price was no initiation fee and $19/month for both of us ... but tonight they said $60/month. I still signed up though!!! The pounds are starting to creep back up (well, more than creep) and I hate for all the work I did this past winter to not even be noticeable when Tom gets home. So I figure the way my schedule is ... can fit in 7 workouts before he flies back in ... and if I do enough cardio ... hopefully it will help, at least a little bit! Plus, I went to the store last night and bought fruit and healthy sandwich stuff (I ually eat ssoo bad .... pasta, cream sauce, etc etc)...
  14. Very cute. I like the color. The hilites make it very shiny! Sweet...

My closest cousin told me she was going until the week before the wedding when she still hadn't booked then couldn't afford it . . . yeah stupid because what would have been $700 over 8 months is now $1200 due tomorrow . . . I still haven't talked to her. My mom says she's embarassed but you know what? We're all adults and people need to be honest. I would never agree to be in a DW if I knew I couldn't swing it. It hurts, I know, but it won't ruin your day AT ALL, trust me, you won't miss them when you see your man waiting for you!! Amen to that! It's true, you shouldn't agree to something so important to people if you aren't sure you can follow through (unexpected happenings not withstanding, of course).
  16. Oh, Shelley .... I am SO sorry to hear about this. It is heartbreaking, I know. How long have your friends known about the wedding? When I asked my girls, I told them I couldn't pay fr them to go and if they couldn't swing it that I woud totally understand, but to let me know then rather than later. Had the girls who have backed out put down their deposits yet or anything? All I can say is to realize that your wedng is more important to you than it is to anyone else ... and you do have to take it on the chin, as much as that totally sucks. Just know that your wedding is still going to be perfect because you will be there will those who ARE able to share in your day, and more importantly with the man you love. Hopefully, your girls who are backing out will make an extra effort to make your festivities before your wedding even more special.

  18. Check out Easilites. they come in totally funky colors. Your hairstylist can match them too. Just Google "Easilites" b/c there are tons of great prices for them on different sites. Easilites Clip In Hair Extensions
  19. Thanks for starting this thread. I am going to use starfish A LOT in my wedding too! Just got a necklace and some cute dangle earrings that I've worn and gotten lots of compliments on so looks like I'm even getting in to the 'starfish' mode long before wedding day rolls around! lol.
  20. Anyone able to pass along any of the Pictage promo codes or email discounts? I am signed up with Pictage but have never received any and want to get some BD prints before my time expires.
  21. I use the extensions with the glue, and keep them in for a few days. My hair is fine and the clip-ins don't stay in for me. But I have a girlfriend who uses them all the time and they work great for her. I wish I could use them. Hopefully they'll come out with some that clip tighter so I can use them. Much easier than the glue -- and less permanent! They do just clip in ... you puch the small comb through your hair near the scalp, then pop it closed. Make sure you get real human hair though. the synthetic is HORRIBLE! How to use clip in human hair extensions.

He even tried a few on, but then didn't want to spend the money. So, I'm thinking of picking one out and having it engraved. It's great to have a family heirloom so to speak, but I thought it might be nice to start are only family heirloom as well. I'm so happy to hear your FI will be home soon. Like Ann said, I can't imagine, but at the same time, my FI is a cop and works second shift so sometimes we go days with nothing more than a groggy kiss when he gets home and I'm asleep and when he's asleep and I leave for work. Plus, he doesn't get holidays off, so I go to Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc. and other family functions alone for the most . Others wonder how I can stand it, but you just adapt and make your time together really count. Anyway, glad he's coming home safe and sound! Yes, you do just have to learn to adapt ... and find the right person who understands the idiosyncracies of those kind of jobs. I know that sucks for you about him always working on the holidays. I missed so many holidays with family when I was a news reporter. Not fun. He's lucky to have you and that you understand!
  23. Happy birthday JILL!!! Thanks so much for a great job on my BD shots and I hope your move to GA went smooth! Have a FABULOUS day!!!

Basically, pepole can call in to her and put down money towards our trip and then she will let us know how much it is. So, with any luck, we'll get enough $$ through that (or our Honeymoon Wishes - Honeymoon Registry where your wedding gift is a Romantic Honeymoon account) that any money we save can all go towards actual wedding stuff and not our rooms. If we end up with more than enough to cover our trip ... she'll cut us a check for the remainder to put towrds whatever we want. And she's keeping a list so we know who contributes in order to send "thank you cards."
  25. I know!!! He's been gone since June 18, 2006. I can't believe it's been 14 months!!! We talk on the phone a few times a week and email daily .... but it's going to be weird having him home and getting used to each other again. We know it's going to be like 'dating' all over again. Nothing planned right away but in September or October we're going to go to South Beach for a long weekend, I think. That's where he's been talking about anyway. My boss is giving me plenty of time off (probably I'll take it as long weekends) ... and do some short trips to the beach, visit family, etc etc. I am just so excited, but also anxious, and even a little nervous.... But I can't wait!!
