I also think that's sweet for you to be concerned about her feelings and last minute plans. If you are her MOH, I would think you are close enough to her to let her know you have to be out of town the weekend prior, so ask what you can do before/after those few days to make sure she is as stress-free as possible and that everything you need to help her do is accomplished.

Punta Cana, Cap Cana and Puerta Plata all have great options in the DR. Are you looking for an all-inclusive or a la carte resort/hotel?

LF - Beachy Ring Bearer Pillow
foxytv replied to Married_In_Maui's topic in Buy / Sell / Trade Archives
Here is a link to items I used for my wedding. I have already sold my ring bearer shells, but they are easy to make (my Mom made these) and worked beautifully (shells, ribbon and a hot glue gun). The pics are in the second post of this thread. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t23651 -
I went shopping with my Mom the first time - and brought a friend the second time. If you have one person who's opinion you trust - then one person is all that you need. My best advice would be to try on dresses that might not be a style that you envision. I had my mind set on a couple styles that I LOVED ... however, after trying numerous dresses on in thos estyles, I found nothing that was flattering on me, much to my dismay. However, my Mom brought over a few dresses that were NOT what I envisioned at all ... but I tried them on anyway - and THAT was the style that flattered my body type AND made me feel like a beautiful bride. None of those dresses are anything Iwould have chosen to try on if it hadn't been for my Mom. So, keep an open mind and try on EVERYTHING! Good Luck! Can't wait to see your top picks!

Wedding in in 7 weeks! FI forgot to renew his Passport!
foxytv replied to BBtoB's topic in Just venting or funnies
I waited until the last minute myself (WTF was I thinking?!) but the expedite option worked wonders. They even told me it should be fine to do it w/o expediting - but peace of mind was worth the extra money. Just make sure he gets down there TODAY! -

discountmugs.com warning!
foxytv replied to michelle6114's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Yep, I had the SAME issue with my mugs - the logo they printed was so small it looked ridiculous. But, they redid mine at no charge and so I had two sets of mugs to give out. I would not have recommended them after my experience even though they did make it right. All of the logos came off of anyone's mugs who used them in the pool... -

We walked to a local bar (Steve's Corner Bar - I have a thread about that on here as well). I woldn't walk at night, but there are little markets and shops so durin the day is fine. Paradisus includes a golf course - off-site that they will shuttle you to. Just book your tee times in advance. The only cost is the mandatory cart fee. The greens fees are included through the resort. We hired a photorapher and brought them with us. We did not use the resort photographers. Quote: Originally Posted by uspoiledme OMG! We had our rehearsal dinner at Marino (buffett by day ... but a la carte seafood restaurant by night). We did not privatize the rehearsal dinner, so there was no additional charge. She did send us menu options which we had to choose in advance b/c we had so many people. We had an area sectioned off for us, but the rest of the restaurant was still open to other guests. We had 2 long tables that sat 20-people each. Our set-menu included a shrimp casserole appetizer, lobster entree and assorted desserts. We had a few non-seafood eaters, and they accomodated theri requests for other entrees upon arrival at the dinner. Quote: Originally Posted by tania809 Thanks Tami! I was always intrigued by the Paradisus since I visited the one in Puerto Rico. All of our guests stayed at our resort. There was a 3-night minimum. A few guests stayed for just the 3 nights, but most stayed longer. We did not use the Trio. I made playlists on my iPod and burned them onto separate CD's ... and gave them to our wedding coordinator along with instructions on when to play which CD and it worked out beautifully. My BM dresses are from Bari Jay. They are available in numerous colors. We ordered them from an online site that had lower prices than bridal shops. Quote: Originally Posted by thiarazapata Hey Tami! I do not have my invoice - but we did not use any of the wedding packages. We did everything a la carte ... and brought our own decorations and centerpieces. That kept our ceremony and reception costs to a minimum. And allowed us to add our own personal touches. I hope that answers everyone's questions!

We flew US Air and were not offered an upgrade at check-in, so DH paid the $100/ea to have us upgraded. We were not first to board so there was no place to hang my dress, but I laid it on the top in a compartment after everyone put in their luggage and it traveled beautifully. Turns out, our only other guests on that flight were also in First Class and we were in the same row as them, opposite aisle, so it worked out perfect! And the extra $100/ea to upgrade was worth it - although free would have certainly been better, lol.

Oh that really is the worst. Have you contacted the photog about sendin another disc and re-ordering the BD album? That might be what you have to do. My BD album was "mis-placed" en route from our DW resort to our honeymoon resort. Luckily, my photog still had the album saved, so I paid for a reorder at a discounted price. Just a thought so you know that there is a way to salvage the situation. Good Luck! xoxo

Kind of "disappointed and offended" by FMIL's response

PS - Don't "ask" if you can bring wedding pics and show them if appropriate. Just BRING the wedding pics and show them!!!! :-) -
Kind of "disappointed and offended" by FMIL's response
foxytv replied to Vikki's topic in Just venting or funnies
Vikki - Honestly, I don't think you should have asked your FMIL to throw an AHR for you. Instead, I would have asked for a list of names (unless you already have that from the DW invitations) and made plans for an AHR on my own. DH should know of places to have it (heck, at the park is fine if you want it to be informal - make it a potluck). I think I would have been taken aback if someone 'asked' me to have a party for them. Now, I know your reasoning is to get to know the family, not to get gifts, but I do think that maybe you went about it the wrong way. Although, I can imagine how difficult it must be to figire out what the 'right way' is when you are getting push-back from FMIL. I hope my response isn't hurtful, but you asked, so I wanted to give you my honest opinion. Good Luck! It sounds like you are trying everything you can to form a bond with his family. Hopefully they will let down their guard soon and let you in. xoxo -

Ah, then I did read it wrong - that's what I get for skimming too quickly. $4000 per COUPLE sounds much more in line with what I would expect. We paid something like $3400 for Royal Service at PPR for 8 nights last April ... so with increases I suppose $4000 sounds right. Hopefully, guests realize they can choose the length of their stay ... and can reduce their costs by staying for fewer nights. Our STD's and website quoted prices for guests based on 3-nights (the shortest possible stay) with how much per night it would be to extend their stay. That gave them options to decide on their budget. We had quite a variety of 3, 4, 5 and some 7 night stays for our guests - although everyone who did 3 nights regretted not staying longer...
