  2. Those are awesome pics! Can't wait to see more. And thank goodness everyone was safe -- and in good spirits!

If you want to throw something more modern/upbeat in look into Damian or Ziggy Marley, Sean Paul, Sizzla, Elephant Man, Beenie Man, even Matisyahu. I say buy some albums or download some songs to see what you like. I have tons of reggae and would be happy to send you some samples if you want to try before you buy ) I'm downloading from Limewire, b just typing in "reggae' so I don't really know what I'm getting. Thanks for the artist names. That will help a lot to narrow down searches and then weed through their songs!

That being said, if you want to try to appease her (which I don't think you should have to), I would check out some places in FL, perhaps the Keys? Daufuskie Island, off Hilton Head Island in SC is absolutely breathtaking, but it's not AI, although it is an island you get to by boat, which makes it cool. I think it's pretty pricey though. Hilton Head Resorts, Island Vacations & South Carolina Hotels - Daufuskie Island Resort & Spa We are spending the night there for NY Eve this year, and one night's about all we can afford... I just checked the rates for next May (although I know your date is 2009) and its like $189/night ... so actually not so bad after all. Definitely check out the website!

  11. You can ALWAYS post pics on here! We are PIC WHORES!!!! There are NEVER enough!!!!
  12. Looking for some good reggae tunes to add to our reception and cocktail hour playlists. We're going to play lots of reggae and older beach (shag) style music ... but I'm not up on the good reggae/beachy tunes.
  13. Can you do some sort of ceremony, even if its a vow renewal or symbolic ceremony when you return from Mexico (or even before you leave). I wouldn't change your and your FI dream wedding because of a stubborn FMIL. My Mom and FMIL gave us fits for marrying in the DR. They say there are so many beautiful beaches closer to home for family that we should have chosen from. We said, sorry, but hopefully people will still come (we're having two AHR's for those who cannot) ... and already we have more people booked before invites have even gone out than we ever thought would come total. So, believe it or not, your FMIL might come around once she realizes you are going to do it your way. :-)

As far as the type of paper to use….I’m not really sure I was going to do a test label and try cardstock or regular scrap booking paper. And I would try double sided tape (you can get a whole bunch at Sams club or Costco), if you use glue I think you would need something a little stronger than a glue stick, but not something that is going to be wet and create wrinkles on the paper. Awesome! Thanks a million for that link! Perfect!!!

  18. WELCOME! I'm getting married the day after you in Punta Cana, DR!
  19. I ordered ALL of the free stuff and got a bunch of stuff for marketing purposes for my wine business, and EVERYTHING is fabulous!! Shipping took a while, but no worries since it was the free stuff, who can complain about it taking longer. I found on one of my items, I did a poor job of spell-checking, so left out the 'n' in 'learn' but that's all my fault. I will definitely do business with them again!!!
  20. Beautiful, Edyta! I love your wedding hair the way it is up (I even saved some of the pics you've posted prior. Not sure if my hair would cooperate as well, but damn it's HOT!!!!
  21. I'm just catching up on this thread. GREAT IDEA!!! I totally want to do this! Affordable and unique! (I'm going to work on some cute sayings too add to this list as well)!! I'm also going to get some luggage locks ... I hadn't even thought about that but I know we'll want to lock things up and the safe won't be big enough.

I don't think there's a problem with being straightfoward. We just found out we have to finalize our ceremony/reception locales 3 months prior ... which means if people booklast minute and we choose the yacht reception, we may be over capacity .... so I say be firm but pleasant and make it known in no uncertain terms that this booking/RSVP'ing is a MUST.
  23. Here are some more pics the WC just sent me. I asked for shots of the dance floor for the beach reception. The dance floor is the raised wooden deck/platform. Should be fabulous for dancing as long as my guests aren't so drunk they fall off since it's raised (thank goodness they'd just be falling onto sand... lol). I'm liking the beach reception set-up (maybe minus the tents since it will be evening and not full-sun), but we're also thinking of a yacht reception. The resort says we need to finalize reception plans 3 months prior to our arrival. Ugh! Guess I'll have to really step-up the RSVP date so we know how many people are coming before we can finalize the reception locale.
  24. I want a jeweled starfish shoeclip to match a jeweled starfish for my hair, so mine will likely be a pin or haircomb that I convert into a shoe clip. So, if you find what you want, you can always DIY it into a shoe clip!
