I am wearing my Mom's pearls with my dress, but the necklace is broken, so I have a baggie full of loose pearls. They are a champagne color in graduated sizes, and I want to have it restrung as a choker-style necklace. Has anyone had pearls restrung before? I presume I just got to any jewelry storeand ask to have it done?

We have a friend who is a Notary who is going to sign our legal paperwork with us a few days before we leave and she will submit it all at the courthouse for us. It's not costing us anything other than the regular marriage license fee b/c we are not having any type of ceremony before we go.

My Mom went with me to try on dresses the first time ... but we didn't really find THE DRESS. Even so, she never gave me any compliments, just would say what DIDN'T look good about the dress (or me). I was very saddened by this since my Mom and I are very close and I thought it would really be a bonding experience. It was anything but. She just kept telling me how I need to lose weight in my underarm area so it "looks better in a strapless gown". Nice, huh? I sat her down a few months ago and told her how it upset me ... especially since recently she has given me plenty of negative comments about how I look ... and nothing positive. She said she didn't realize that she was doing that. I guess she really is turning in to her mother... lol.

The ones I've had recommended to me the most are the "Flattering Me" brand. Upscale bridal stores carry them and they are also online. I am pretty sure you will be able to get them in Punta Cana. Have you emailed your WC? She should be able to let you know for sure. or if you have a pic of what you want, send that to her, which will likely make things easier.

I stayed away from anytime in Hurricane Season just to avoid stress overload ... but I think November shouldn't be too risky!!

Wow ... that is so friggin' RUDE! Honestly, I would have taken my dress to another shop for the alterations if I was treated like that. I got my dress at Davids Bridal and am not a very big fan of that company ... so already got an estimate for alterations at another more high-end shop ... and what David's was going to charge me almost $200 will be udner $100 at this other shop. So, if there's any time to do so, I'd go somewhere where the employees have a little more class.

We sent STD's to 165 people, but have since removed a few from the list and added a few as well. So when our invites go out in a few weeks, we should be sending about 175 formal invites. So far .. we have had 46 people put down deposits and get the booking process started. We anticipate about 60-65 when all is said and done.

Jill, Everything looks ssoo awesome! Hard to believe you're just 1 month away!!! I am so afraid I won't be ready by my 1 month mark!! A few ?? for you .... How many guests are coming? How much do you estimate that you spent per OOT bag (bag and contents) per person with everything you included? Can you include the link to the eBay seller with the picture frames? probably can't afford them for all the guests, but I think they'll be great for the bridal party and parents!

Hi Melissa and WELCOME!!! You've come to the right place!! I would suggest that you contact a travel agent (TA) and have her run some numbers for you with regard to resort pricing and airfare (she can run rates from a couple places you'll have most guests coming from to get an idea of cost). If you like that place in Mexico ... go for it! You might also ask the TA about other locales similar to the palce in Mexico you liked. We are getting married in the DR at one resort, and moving to a more exclusive resort for our honeymoon ... so how much time you spend with your guests, or if you move to another resort for your HM, is totally up to you.
