  1. I showed our WC how I wanted the centerpieces to look and she took care of everything. They looked better than I even envisioned. Your WC should take care of everything, but I had some relatives on standby just in case it wasn't done...
  2. Your fiance's SIL asked about being a BM? That is RIDICULOUS to me unless you guys were close - but actually ASKING if you are going to be a BM is ssoo tacky to begin with, IMHO. I would absolutely NOT have her in the wedding just to "not hurt her feelings." You will likely regret it ... especially if you don't think she is someone you want standing up for you. Even if you guys do get along ok, it's about who YOU want to be a part of your day in that special way - not if they think they should be entitled to be a part of it.
  3. I think both dresses are beautiful - so either will be a perfect choice. My preference dictates #1 ... but #2 is also awesome. You can't make a wrong decision...
  4. Yes, the WC at the resort will take care of that. That is why you have to check with the resort to see which dates are avaiable. It's not the resorts decision - there is typically only 1 officiant available to perform the ceremonies - and he travels to all the Punta Cana resorts ... so your resort will give you dates based on when the officiant is available at your resort.
  5. Beautiful teaser pics!!!! Looks like the spa really WAS a blessing in disguise!
  6. Any decision yet LaBre? I think that is VERY selfish of your MIL to take away your dream wedding location. But be that as it may - you have plenty of other options. Just make sure you pic your 'runner-up' location based on what you and FI want and not what your MIL wants. I want to slap her.
  7. Pricing is usually available for the resorts 12 months in advance, so you shouldn't have a problem getting resort pricing at this time for a Spring 2010 wedding. Airfares came out a bit later for us, but once we knew the resort pricing, we were comfortable reserving our date.
  8. We have a friend who is a Notary and she did the paperwork for us before we left. April 13 was significant for us, but that date wasn't available for our DW, so we did our legal paperwork on that day - but still had our friend submit the paperwork on our DW day of April 19 so that is the date on file with the courthouse. We did the legal stuff ahead of time for a few reasons - one being that the paperwork from the DR takes up to 6-months to receieve back in the US ... yet we only have 30-days from our wedding date to change insurance, etc. Also, we felt it better to do ahead of time rather than after just in case anything happened while we were traveling. Morbid, perhaps, but you really never know...
  9. Oh they are BEAUTIFUL pics!!!! You guys look ssoo happy!!!
  10. Congrats and WELCOME! I am a Punta Cana bride and know you will have a beautiful DW! Be sure to read through the threads in the DR section. You will find a lot of info there!
  11. Great pics! I love the gazebo on the beach. It looks like it was a dreamy day for your beautiful wedding!! CONGRATS!
  12. Sorry Alyssa ... I had just gone to find that link to add for her as well! Siggy Help & testing - Best Destination Wedding Forum
  13. go to Graphical Tickers and Trackers: Weight Loss, Trying To Conceive, Pregnancy... to design it and then you will use the code to insert it into your signature, which you can find under User CP in the top left hand corner of the BDW site.
  14. Chanti - I am just TTC right now - not preggers yet - but I started doing Boot Camp 2x a week back in February and am still doing it. This way, I now have a regular routine that I can keep up with once I do become pregnant. You basically just can't start a rigorous exercise program AFTER becoming pregnant. You should be good to go with all that you are already doing! As for names : we have names for 2 boys and 2 girls already picked out. Boys: Thomas Harry B. Jr. (DH's name, although I hate the middle name of Harry .... oh well, I won't win that argument) Mac William B. (Mom's maiden name is McClosky and everyone called her Dad Mr. Mac ... and my Dad's name is William) Girls: Michaela Diane B. (Mom's name is Michael, so just adding an "a" ... pronounced like Mikayla ... and MIL's name is Diane) Reese Donnelly B. (just lvoe the name Reese and DH's aunt and uncle's last name is Donnelly) I wanted to name a girl Jade Michael, but DH says it saounds like a stripper name. He sucks, cos I still love that name.
  15. I got that small one at Michael's as well and it is SMALL. Really only good for using as a border desin or something like that. I haven't seen any bigger ones, though, I am sorry to say. How are doing - recovering after surgery? xoxo
  16. Hi ladies! I have gained so much weight since starting Clomid (I am on my fourth cycle of it) that I am up to 175 lbs. I was 135 lbs. at our wedding last year!!!! I wore an 8 at our wedding and now I am in a 14 pants (but its hard to find long inseams) and I have bought a lot of maternity tops since they fit loose and cover my curves. I am working diligently to try to lose this weight - but I think Clomid allows your body to have a mind of its own, regardless of how much one works out...
  17. I didn't quit until after our wedding. Actually I haven't smoked now since September '08. I took Chantix and it worked like a CHARM!!!! I had a few set-backs early on, but I have lost any and all cravings for cigarettes since then! I highly recommend Chantix!!!

    Question

I gathered up all kinds of Caribbean mags at AAA and then we narrowed things down from there based on what we liked and didn't like at different resorts or in different areas. We chose the DR and couldn't be happier with our decision. I haven't been to Cabo, but I know it ROCKS too!!! Being from NY, you will likely get some great flight prices to Punta Cana if you decide to go to DR. Best of luck and HAPPY PLANNING!
  19. I am just now seeing this thread. Since our wedding, I am wishing my sister would get engaged so I can help plan hers - but I know I will be bummed if she doesn't use some of my DIY ideas from on here, lol. Now, I am obsessed with TTC ... so that is all-consuming. We also are trying to move to a bigger house - so it's been crazy having to always have the house spotless and never know when we'll have to evacuate the premises for a showing on a moments notice. But, we finally got an offer .. so now we are praying it goes through! I love staying up to date with all my BDW friends ... and I love looking at planning threads and pics from new DW brides! I also love being able to offer advice and opinions in the Dominican Republic threads. I took some time off from BDW after starting TTC - just because TTC took up all of my free time (lol, obsessing on the Fertility Friend website, etc) ... but now I am trying to chill out and love having gotten active again on BDW!!! Love all my BDW peeps!!!
  20. I didn't have to put down a deposit for our PPC wedding.... My advice to you would be to email her again (and call again) and list your top 3 wedding dates so she will know upon reading your email/getting your voice mail what your preferences are. Then, she will be able to put you down for whichever date is available w/o having to go back and forth over dates. Also ask her to confirm which date she has booked you for. You may also want to list the time preferences so you don't get your preferred date but a 10am wedding if you want a 4pm wedding, y'know? GOOD LUCK!!!!
  21. Have you searched through the DR threads yet to see what's already been posted? Our photogs stayed at that resort (its right next to PPC) ...
  22. I was SHOCKED - very happily so - that Kris won. I love both of them. Adam is super-talented, but more polished b/c he has more experience in front of crowds. Kris is a true, down to earth guy who has a passion and excels at it! I am positive that they will both be HUGE successes ... but am ssoo glad that Kris won it in the end!!!!
