Sorry about your ering. That's terrible. But beautiful alternative. Thanks. I know, it totally sucks, but luckily he hadn't spent a lot on the center stone (we were going to upgrade it after the wedding) so its really just the setting that was stolen (although it was a custom Tacori, so it wasn't cheap). If I still had my ering, I would definitely get a different ring that would fit well with it, but since I don't anymore -- I don't feel so bad about abandoning the ering tradition.

I've copied most of them into Word and am cross-referencing when I download music to make sure I have a wide variety. Then we'll put our playlists together closer to our DW.

I guess we are doomed to have plenty of our own drunk guests at our wedding after that. Luckily, we were very well behaved during the ceremony and reception. I only drank water.

  8. Have you guys talked about when you'll get the ring? You can always get a stand-in CZ ring. That's what I'm wearing since mne was stolen -- and NO ONE knows the difference unless I've told them (well, besides, Tom and I, who hate it, but it is what it is). I got my fake one on Sterling Silver Jewelry, CZ Jewelry, Celebrity Imitation Jewelry, and Cubic Zirconia Jewelry from Emitations for $60 and it is awesome.
  9. OK. Let's see if I can post this. Not that I even should be since it's me and Tom -- and you ladies will either die laughing or die of embarrassment for us (well, me really, I was the drunk one). Anyway, this was a wedding at a winery in GA this past Saturday. Tom and I went to Helen GA for Oktoberfest on Friday night, spent the night, and then went to 5 wineries in GA before the wedding (great idea at the time, bad idea when I saw this video). Our friend was the videographer and we were just messing around -- but still. He took the audio off before sending it to me (but basically I'm screaming "woo-hoo" and then, "we are sssoooo happy for you" in my sexy, slurry drunk voice). Enjoy... 11. One piece of advice from a wedding I just went to this past weekend -- don't COMPLETELY change your hairstyle/look for the wedding. The bride is very much a natural beauty (little makeup, natural hair that's pretty short and has wavy curls). She had it done with tons of really tight curls and lots of make-up and it just didn't LOOK like her, or look natural at all.
  12. Reggie, that's so sweet of you to say! This forum has become an unbelieveably important part of my life since I found it and I think my FI thinks of it the same way you did. But it is truly amazing!
  13. I persoanlly haven't seen any "Greek Goddess" hairstyles that I like but you look fabulous in that dress. I might even consider wearing it down in the back and partial updo in the front with a flower. That dress is beautiful and it looks WAY better on you than it does on the model pic.

  15. Wow ... this is crazy about the Michael guy. I hope we don't get any grief for bringing our own photog -- but she is also a guest at the resort -- so hopefully it won't be an issue. We're getting married in the DR -- but anything like this makes me wonder.
  16. I don't know how I haven't checked out this thread before now but it rocks.
  17. I'm not getting married in the DR, but the rates will be different for everyone unless they are getting married in the same timeframe as you. I thought we picked the low-rate time for our resort in the DR, but turns out its Passover, so our rates are higher than we would have liked.

I just know he is a little more harsh with his Mom than I want to be about these things -- but I guess he knows how to handle her better than I do.

It would be one thing if they were contributing, but they are on his retirement pension and their PT jobs, so while I don't expect them to contribute, I also don't expect it to be a dog and pony show for her to show off her son and FDIL, you know? ugh.. NOw we are going to be footing the bill for people we have never met. I hope TOm will be able to get her to stop inviting people for your sake. Oh, geez Brittney. That sucks too! You still have time, but do you think she'll ante up? How many people did she add to the list? Are you having to pay for everything ahead of time? We don't actually pay for the ceremony and reception costs until we get to the resort -- and the reception we will pay for after the fact, so at least we have that leeway in case her guests do decide to come. Don't you think it's pretty ballsy though to accept an invitation to the wedding of someone you don't know, even if it is your friends son/daughter? I guess the older generations might not look at it that way and see it more of an honor to be invited?
  21. Our invitations are in the process of being delivered (some have arrived, some are still on the way). FMIL called today to say she was talking with some of her friends who received their invites -- and other friends overheard (other friends who WE don't even know and have never met) so she wanted to double check the date/time of our AHR to let them know. aaarrrggghhh!!!! The AHR is going to be at Tom's bar/restaurant ... but we still have to PAY for it (pay the staff and for the food/alcohol) ... and we really don't want more of FMIL's friends being invited since we've never even MET most of them. There are several of FIL's friends who we have met, hung out with, gotten to know, and gladly put on our guest list. But there are probably a dozen or so others that FMIL just insisted be invited to both the DW and AHR. I added them back a long time ago, and it's not a huge deal, since we doubt the ones we don't know will actually come -- but if she keeps pushing for her friends to attend our AHR -- I am going to SCREAM. We just do not want people we have never met to be a part of our reception. I already decided to tell her that it is "invitations only" but that if she wants to have a party in their city for us after the fact, that they are totally able to do that. Tom says he'll just tell her flat-out to stop inviting people -- that's fine with me too b/c that's the right answer ... I just don't feel comfortable doing it (if it was my Mom, I would). Anyway, really just needed to vent. Tom is out of town on business so I can't bitch to him.
  22. They are Boudoir Photos. Most of the time, we give them to our FH on our wedding night -- as their wedding gift -- in the form of a book/album that the photog designs for you as part of the package. if you search for "boudoir" you will find several links if "BD" doesn't work for you. I had never heard of it before joining BDW, but I had them done a few months ago --although never even considered shots as sexy as some of these ladies have done recently. They are all certainly amazing!! Just make sure you use a reputable photog and not one who does the sleazy, trashy shots. You'll know who they are if you search for Boudoir Photographers and see the sites. (Jill, I might have to call you for an ultra-sexy Anniversary BD shoot down the road!!!)
