  1. I don't have a vanity plate, but my brother got me a custom made license plate frame for Christmas a couple of years ago. It says "Follow Me To WAFFLE HOUSE" in the yellow block lettering. When I moved to SC, I fell in love with Waffle House and would go to 2 different ones regularly, and everyone on every shift knew me by face (since I was on TV back then) and name -- and they had my food on the grill as soon as they saw my car pull in. It was too funny. FH and I still go there a lot and they still know me -- and I still have the license plate frame on my car, b/c it's so darn funny. I see people in my rear view mirror laughing at stop lights when they read it.
  2. Nothing wtong with flip flops IMHO. FH would be wearing flip-flops (he changing into them for the reception) except he's wearing his Military dress blues for the ceremony so he has to wear his regular dress shoes. Barefoot is fine too. I say whatever he is most comfortable in. Closed toe shoes in the sand, with or without socks, will be a bear. We're getting married in the gardens.
  3. Here are some clips from articles I found online: Tipping customs vary from country to country. It is advisable to inquire about tipping with the international tourism board representing the country you'll be traveling in. Simply ask for information about tipping customs and social expectations. You will also want to discuss gratuities with your travel agent or planner. Some travel packages include gratuities in the total cost, some leave that to the guests, and some even discourage tipping (usually because they have built it into the total package price) Be sure to discuss this with your travel planner. This is from: Destination Wedding http://honeymoons.about.com/b/2007/07/10/tips-on-tipping.htm http://www.lovetripper.com/mailbox/tipping-all-inclusives.html This link lists some Jamaica resorts that have a strict "no-tipping policy."
  4. We plan on tipping the WC and reception staff -- but not the minister, since it's a non-legal and they already charge $400. We are also bringing sacks of $1 & $2 bills to tip the maids, bartenders and anyone else who is deserving throughout the week (in the DR, it seems $1 goes a long way towards good service and general appreciation). We are also bringing extra Travel Mugs and trinkets to give as tips. Do we also tip our photog (I'm bringing mine and paying $4000)? Anyone I'm forgetting? Our TA -- does she get a tip or gift or something?
  5. Thanks for bumping! I forgot as well -- I'm sending it now!
  6. Yea, just the charm. They are small -- perfect too, I think for a bracelet or anklet -- depending on the size. I got a whole lot of bronze colored starfish charms off eBay a while back -- like 50 for $5. They are great. I'm going to add them on a piece on brown cord to each OOT bag with the name tag.
  7. lol -- I just bought a bunch of different types of starfish at the beach this weekend. When I got home and started to package them up in tissue paper so they don't break -- phew! Talk about stinky!
  8. Found these really reasonably priced Starfish Charms -- FYI Starfish charms
  9. WELCOME! You will become as addicted to this forum as the rest of us, no doubt!
  10. I don't care for the long -- but I like all the others (and voted for shaved -- sorry Heidi!)
  11. It looks AWESOME!!!!! I wish we had more pics of us together to make our guest book y -- but we don't have a whole lot of pics. boo.

There is a dueling piano bar in Wilmington too -- so I'm starting to lean that direction. FH and I are going to Carolina Beach this weekend to visit my uncle, so maybe we'll check out that bar and see what it's like -- as well as the other happening spots. When I go, I always stay on Carolina Beach cos I love it so much -- but this time we'll venture out so I can get an idea of what places we could go if we do have the b-party there!
  13. I've heard some not great stuff about STB ... but don't know anything aboput it now that its Dreams. I know STB was a marriage machine resort, with several per day.

We figure to start "trying" by this time next year. I go for my OBGYN checkup next week, so I'm going to talk to her about it then!
  15. LOL -- you have time to get it cleaned and from the sounds of it, they clean up really well. And you will still fit in it!!!!! :-)
  16. Thanks Ladies!!! It's definitely nice when they make more of an effort! We are lucky, because I LOVE his family and he gets along with mine great too! So, in that sense -- we are blessed. Now if I could just get my folks to visit US more often, but their grandsons are up closer to them so I guess until we start making babies, the trips they make to see us will be fewnd far between. lol.
  17. Have you looked at Paradisus Punta Cana? That's where we decided on and Laikin, the WC is easy to work with. We are honeymooning at the Palma Real b/c it was just too expensive to ask people to come there for the actual wedding. PPC seems exceptionally nice (recommended by by TA) and so far I've been very pleased with the response to my questions, etc. We have more than 50 people coming, and are getting a lot of free perks as a result of the number of booked rooms.
  18. Definitely send them. I'm sure they still want to feel a part of the guest list -- and know that you'd love to have them there, even though you understand the circumstances!

Make it a weekend you will always remember! The price difference between Folly Beach and the other two would be in accomodations. We have places to stay in the same resort on Folly, but will have to rent a place otherwise. BUT, I don't really want to have to split everyone up for sleeping quarters -- especially since most will be traveling and won't know the people who are opening up their beach homes to us.
  20. Tom's parents live at the beach -- about 4 hours from us, in SC. My parents live at the beach -- about 9 hours from us, in MD. We have spent holidays and weekends and whenevers with his family ssoo often since we have been together -- and they come visit us often too. 4 hours isn't far to keep in touch that way. Tom has been up to visit/meet my family once and my family has come down to visit us once. The distance is just far enough that it makes seeing each other difficult -- and it's not cheap either to fly or drive. So, this year ... we have a free weekend (unexpected coming up starting tomorrow), so I suggested driving 4 hours to see my uncle, who lives at the beach in NC. He loves my uncle and that beach, so he agreed quickly. YEAH!!! We were planning to fly to NYC for Thanksgiving b/c he wants me to meet his extended family and hasn't been back to his hometown in several years -- but he is traveling for work that week and doesn't fly back in until the night before Thanksgiving. So, he suggested we drive up to be with MY family for Thanksgiving. I couldn't BELIEVE it -- because it's always about how his family is closer -- but he said he knows I haven't seen my family as much as I want to and he thinks it's important. (Yeah! A breakthrough!!!) Then, a military friend of his is getting married close to where my folks live the weekend before Christmas, so we're going BACK up to visit and staying a few extra days to celebrate an early Christmas (again, shocking!) Shocking, especially when his Mom acts all hurt that we aren't spending Thanksgiving with them. Ugh. We've already seen his folks 4 times since August!! Anyway, just venting a bit -- but a good vent. I'm so happy we can make the trips to see my family a few more times before the wedding!! Yippee!!!
