  1. I'm glad you guys got away. The lake house looks awesome! I love that kind of stuff! I bet it was nice for some one on one time to get your heads straight. It's what we all need sometimes!

And he loves the one I picked out for him. yay!

Thanks for reminding me! I know they do have tents (well, tents w/o sides) but not sure if they cost extra. I'll check on that too!!! Thanks!!!
  6. Oh yeah -- very nice! What's the link to that dress? It might be a Rehearsal Dinner dress for me!
  7. Here are taxi rates between Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) and the different resorts in Punta Cana. Posted here as well, (Punta Cana Airport ( PUJ ) Taxi Rates - Page 5 - DR1 Dominican Republic Forums) but thought I'd cut and paste for easier viewing. Good info to know. We are going to take a taxi instead of the shuttle for three reasons: 1) the shuttle (although included in the package price) stops at various resorts along the way, making the trip longer than necessary 2) the shuttle travels via the by-pass, so you miss seeing any of the REAL DR 3) it's been recommended to take the taxi and have your driver stop at a local bar for a local beer and a "mingle" with the real DR people. We really want to do that as well (my concern is if our luggage will be safe in the taxi during this time)... FROM PUJ: to the Cabeza de toro area with it's hotels *Catalonia *Oasis *Allegro *Natura Park $25.- for up to 5 passengers, + $5.- each extra person to the closer bavao area with the hotels *barcelo bavaro beach resort *IFA Village *Melia resort *paradisus palma real *barcelo dominican beach *barcelo dominican cana *carabela beach resort&casino *palladium resort *occidental grand flamenco *princess hotels *paradisus punta cana *ocean blue *lti resort $25.- for up to 5 passengers, $5.- for additional passengers farer bavaro area with the hotels *iberostar resort *riu resort *bahia principe resort *majestic *gran paradise *barcelo punta cana $30.- for up to 5 passengers plus $5.- per extra person Uvero Alto area with it's hotels *Sunscape the Beach *Sivory *Sirenis *Secrets $60.- for up to 5 persons plus $10.- per additional person for the Sunscape The Beach at the same rate the transportation can be arranged with the hotel(contact Sunscape Mike on this Bord), so the driver awaits you at the airport with a sign with your name on it. all rates are daytime rates, after 10PM it is common that rates go up a $10.- for the closer areas and a additional $20.- for the Uvero Alto area. please make always your rate clear with the driver prior to departure

  9. I sent out the invites in late October asking for a November 30 RSVP, b/c I didn't want to send them during the holidays. I do think they can/will get lost in the shuffle. We've had about 25% response so far, and with 168 invites, that's not too bad so far. I think as long as you realize you ARE going to be doing a lot of your own legwork after the New Year to get answers from people, then you'll be fine. Our final count is due January 15 as well (for an April 19 wedding) ... so this way anyone we see / talk to over the holidays -- we can ask about their RSVP if they haven't sent it back to us by then. Do you have a hefty guest list?
  10. Are you guys using Discountmugs - Coffee Mugs, Travel Mugs, Water Bottles, Promotional Pens, Glassware, Commemorative Plates, Tiles & Promotional Items Someone paid $4.99 each? That seems really high to me. We're paying $2.79 with free shipping for ours (plus the flat $45.00 set-up fee).
  11. I'm so jealous! I want long lashes -- but everywhere around here it is ssoo expensive!!!
  12. I love it! How beautiful! And it fits you perfect already! WOW!!!
  13. My TA has a co-worker who is going to our resort on vacation starting on Saturday for a week. So, she has scheduled an appointment with my WC and is going to do a site visit for me and answer any questions that I have. This is what I've asked so far... Can you help me think of anything else? 1-They have a new Gazebo that we want to use for the ceremony. I'm wondering if it will be really windy at that Gazebo location at 3pm? If it is, we'd rather do the ceremony in the gardens off the lobby. 2-If the Gazebo IS a good choice -- which bar is closest to the Gazebo, so I can direct guests to that bar for the post-ceremony/pre-reception cocktails while we finish up or pictures. 3-We were also hoping to do a beach reception from 5-8pm (but my Mom is concerned it will be too windy as well. So, I'm just trying to get a feel for how bad the wind is and if the sand blows too in the afternoon/evenings and if she would recommend a beach reception or a reception in another location.) If she thinks the beach reception WOULD be too windy - what does she suggest as a good alternative (we want to have a buffet dinner and then cocktails/dancing). 4-We are having a rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding for 22 people, and I'd like to know which restaurant she recommends for a "casual elegance" type of atmosphere. 5-We are having informal cocktail receptions each evening to welcome the new guests as they arrive. We planned on using the Lobby Bar for this -- but I wonder if there are other bars that aren't so far away from everything else that might be a better option? I need to put these locations in our Welcome Letter that I send out to guests ahead of time -- so it's not something we can decide upon arrival. 6-Will the guest rooms all be in the same building/general area? Is it possible to ensure the rooms are close together, or is there a building she suggests we request that is in a good location? And, how close will our room (in Royal Service) be to the regular guest rooms? 7-Can we pay the balance of our wedding/reception costs with a credit card -- or should we bring Travelers Checks?

So I will have PLENTY of pics and info before your 2009 wedding!
  15. I am a slacker b/c I've had my gift all ready to mail out -- but haven't done it yet! Ugh! I'm off work Wednesday so hopefully it will go out then -0- before the post office lines get too long!!!
  16. We have it in Tom's new car and it is the BEST thing ever. It's a chick who guides you through the route, turn by turn and tells you to when to get ready to turn, and then when to turn and onto what road you are turning. I don't have it in my car, but once I get a new car, I will not buy a vehicle without the GPS.

  18. BUMPING THIS for PPC brides (I know there are a few new ones since I first started this thread!) Let me know if there are any questions that you want answered about the resort -- as I am giving my TA a detailed list of things to check for me when she is at the resort in December.
  19. I went and got sized for this ring today and I am ssoo glad I did before FH ordered it. It's a full size larger than my regular ring size ... b/c it's a 6mm band. It's on here that I read about the size differences, I believe, b/c otherwise I never would have even thought about it, but so glad I did. Now, we've got to get FH resized b/c his band is 6mm also.
  20. I wish I had a pic of mine with the model, but it's last season from David's Bridal so I guess they don't have it online anywhere (it wasn't even online last year when I first bought it). boo....
  21. Very cute. I'm sticking with the Tiffany knock'off's on eBay b/c w/ shipping they are like $5 each. I've been wearing one for a few months now and it's not tarnishing so it is real silver -- and that's all that matters to me!
