  1. Ahhhh! I was just reading someone elses thread about STD's and just about everyone's responses were to send the STD's as early as possible (about 1 year ahead) and then a few months ahead, follow with the formal invitation. Now I am freaking out, cuz I thought the STD would function as the invitation for the DW part of it and the invitation would be for the reception at home! [panic attack] What do you all think?! Do I need to send STD and invitations for the DW and then another invite for the reception
  2. I agree with everyone else - the earlier the better. I just ordered my STD's yesterday and will be sending them as soon as I get them for my May 2008 wedding next year.
  3. off the subject - love your bulldog! I have one also, her name is Sugar and she turns 7 tomorrow :-) I decided that the people that were "maybes" are going to stay off the Jamaica list. I can revisit the reception later and possibly add them there. We don't even know if we are going to have an outside reception (which could accomodate more), or keep it indoors, since it will be June and HOT. I just ordered my STD's and am so excited! Every little step makes it feel more real. And btw, you totally made sense.
  4. I know, it makes it to hard! I agree with your thoughts, but I wanted to be sure, cuz my sister seems so sure that people would want to be included where they could. But I think I'd end up feeling bad if people came to Jamaica, but then weren't invited to the reception! Ugh. Thanks though for your thoughts!

Well, I haven't ordered them yet (having issues with how many to order, I just started a different thread on that one...), but I saw them at a bridal show they had at Doylestown Country Club a few months ago, it was the Paper Unicorn in Doylestown who had them. But then I found them online at Wedding Invitations, Birth Announcements, Party Invitations  eInvite, so I just need to find out who's are less expensive and place my order! Can't wait!:-)
  6. Hello all, I am having a dilema with my guest list. I am from a pretty large Irish family, but my fiance is from an even larger Italian family and our list, cut to the bar minimum is still at 250! We were planning on sending STD's to everyone and letting anyone who wants to come to Jamaica come. We ended up having to cut about 30 of our friends that we would really rather not cut, but due to the family sizes, it was unavoidable. My issue is this - can i invite everyone to the destination and not to the reception that will be held when we come home? I am getting mixed opinions from everyone. I would think that if they are invited to one, they should be invited to the other. But my sis (MOH) had a different point of view - everyone knows how hard it is to get everyone included in the wedding, and if I can include them in the destination, I should. Thoughts?
  7. Yeah, I am really excited to have found them. I love color so I am happy they are so bright! I looked into trying to make them myself, but damned if I could find pretty orange paper anywhere!
  8. Here is a pic of my STD's. My colors are orange, pink and blue. And finding the right color orange is hard! So I saw this a few months ago and haven't seen anything else that comes close to the shades that I want.
  9. Wow, that is PERFECT for a Vegas themed wedding! Totally flashy.
  10. Def #2. Number 1 is nice and all, but nothing special about it. The second one, you look amazing. Who is the designer? I might have to track it down!!

We ended up having to move the wedding back a few months, which I didn't really want to do, but it was necessary. Still having drama (my parents are saying they can't go), but I can't get caught up in everyone else! I am very excited to have booked it and have an official date. I am ordering the STD this week and I can't wait until they are mailed. I hope all is well with you. I haven't been on the board in like 2 weeks, I don't know how I stayed away, but i've just been busy! So it looks like I have alot of catching up to do.
  12. I agree, I think you still should send them. Even if you KNOW they can't make it. Some people like to keep them as a keepsakes, especially if you hand make them...
  13. Wow, Heidi, I am sorry to hear such drama. I have similar things going on, so I feel your pain. My mom is now telling me (after months of talking about this is what I want), that her and my dad can't afford to come. I got really pissed at first, because she tried to make it about my brother, but in the end, I had to realize that this IS about me and Matt getting married, and of course I would like the people important to me there. But it came down to would I be happy having a traditional wedding? I don't mean to talk about myself, I am just trying to show that you are not alone. I agree with most of what I read here - you could follow up your STD with a phone call to each individual and explain the need to book by a certain date to get those rates. Mostly everyone has traveled before, so I am sure they would understand. The thing I don't understand though is why is this so hard for us? When planning a destination wedding, you SHOULD be able to lock in a rate! Maybe in the future, TA's will have new procedures mapped out for this. Anyway, so sorry to hear you are experiencing such drama. I wish I had better advice!
  14. YAY! I got it! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
  15. hmmmm, fonts folder. sounds familiar, gonna have to mess around and figure it out. Thanks so much though, cuz it is perfect!
  16. Ok, so I must be broken down for the week or something, cuz I cannot figure out how to get this into Word! The font is great and I downloaded it, but can't get it to show as an option in Word. Those paper sites are GREAT! I bookmarked them all to do some research - perhaps I could flip the invitation and have the orange on the back and the blue on top if I can't find orange metallic... And the wheels start spinning :-)
  17. Oh, also, I am a bit helpless when it comes to computer art. I have no idea how I would get the image there! If I found the right supplies, I do have a friend who is an artist...

I would def be interested, and I even looked around, but was unable to find cardstock. The orange has a metallic tinge to it and the blue is not the color it appears on the computer. Know any good craft supply stores? All I have is Michael's and AC Moore, and they are ok, but sometimes just don't have the selection...

  20. I think you should get it. I fell in love with a $3,500 Lazaro, but I knew that was over the top, but now the one that I found (haven't purchased it yet, but pretty sure I will) is only $1,200 and I felt like that was a steal. I am also not a very sentimental person, so I will probably be selling it when I am done...
  21. And since I just mentioned my sister's two dogs, might as well post a picture for all those photo whores on the site. Ella is the english bulldog or "Chuckie" cuz she is the cutest thing ever, but turns into a monster sometimes and attacts everyone. Abby is the Boston and she always thinks Ella is just playing when attacking her. I also included a pic from a few Christmas's ago when we tried to get all the family dogs together. The order in the pic is: Abby, Sugar, Lucy (in the back), Sonny (in front of Lucy) and Pennebelle. This was pre-Ella. [Pics are too big and i dont know how to alter them, so here is a Word doc]

  23. Here is my baby, Sugar. aka - Sug, Wigglebutt, Stinkerbear, Sugarbear, etc.

Thank you both, I will def do a search for budget. I just need a guideline. For instance, I priced out the invitations that I love and they are like $1,000 for all the pieces. I thought that was too much, but my mom said that sounds about right. Oh well, guess i will figure it out when I decide what means the most to me and what I want to spend the money on!
