Wedding Dress at AHR??
boscobel replied to Cole5worm's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Dude, I would wear mine to every family function I could if that wasn't weird. So I am DEF going to wear that baby one more time. -
I need ideas....
boscobel replied to Polly....Prince's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
I like turtles. It's different. I used a hibiscus flower and it was nice to have one thing to make everything I did feel united, since I used lots of different colors and stuff. -
They told me they didn't do receptions/parties on the beach due to safety reasons. I wouldn't be surprised if that information was wrong though, cuz I found a lot of misinformation with the contact that I had...

I will try to answer as best I can, I was just married there on May 17th... Quote: Originally Posted by though hello everyone, first off, thanks for the warm welcoming in the "newbie" forum. my beautiful fiance and i are getting married @ beaches boscobel on Jan 31, 2009. she is very worried about everything and i told her i would post to the forum since many of you have either experienced or are in the same shoes as us and can maybe help provide some answers. we will have a catholic wedding at a local church (our lady of fatima -- ochos rios), not the resort. here are her initial concerns: 1. which wedding moon package do others recommend? standard or private (more $$$) ? We had upgraded to the twilight package since we were getting married on the beach, so I would think since you are getting married at a church, an upgrade on the package isn't necessary. But be sure to read all the inclusions to be sure that you aren't missing something that you want. (Although, it might be better to pay for that 1 thing, rather then do a whole upgrade.) standard comes with a 30 minute reception for $300. for $25 extra per person, you get a 'private' reception and open bar (thought that was already included at the resort?) $50 extra per person, you get a private dinner reception. $75 extra per person, you get a 'private wedding reception' This is the upgrade that we did and I am SO glad I did. You can't make reservations at any of the restaurants and one night we had about 15 people for dinner. We had to wait well over an hour for that space to become available. Although, this had a lot to do with how full the resort is while you are there and what night you are getting married. We had about 25 people as well, and having the reception just made it feel more like a wedding reception to me. I am really glad that we paid the extra fees. is it worth it to pay the extra fees? can you just make a reservation at one of the restaurants for your party (there will be about 20-25 of us in all). 2. which photography package do you recommend? would it make more sense to have the resort provide it or hire a local come and do it? I am not a fan of the style of photography the resort uses - very posed shots. So we didn't do any photography upgrades. I wish I had brought my own photog, but I wouldn't advise upgrading thru the resort. I am sure there are some good photogs there, but the woman we had was actually the woman that walked up and down the beach during the day to take pictures of people in the ocean and then sell them to them. 3. did you purchase flowers through the resort? how were they? A 9 rose bouquet was included in the twilight package, as well as the bout for my husband. I had my bridesmaids carrying parasols instead of flowers. 4. is there a place at the resort for dancing in the evenings? Honestly, not really. There are a few bars: Appleton closes at 10 - we actually never went there, so I can't say about that, but it was realllllly small; Bayside Bar closes at 12 - we spent alot of time there, but it's the bar right by the pool, so not really condusive to dancing; The Disco closes at 2 - this is probably the best place to go to dance, but it is kinda nasty. It smells horrible in there and it was mostly the people closer to 18 in there. Then there is the Piano Bar which also closes at 2. I suppose you could dance in there if you wanted to, but it was more of a chill place to be. It was one of our favorite night places, cuz the bartenders do bar tricks and it isn't as packed at the Bayside, so you get more one on one interaction with them. You should go and check out Godfrey (if he's still there then) and also Marcelus. They were good at their tricks. 5. since this is a catholic wedding, how were other people's experiences with the travel to/from the church? flowers and music at the church? Sorry, can't offer any help here any information provided will be a tremendous help! thanks, troy Troy - if you do a search for Beaches Boscobel you should find other random information on here. I beleive I am the only one that has gotten married there on this forum, but there is one other bride that I know of that is getting married there in a few months. If you want any other documents that Beaches had provided me, PM me your email and I can send some stuff over. I tried to post everything though, so your best bet is to do a search for Boscobel. Good luck!

I just offically changed my name
boscobel replied to NYJen's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Yay! A big step done. I want to change mine so bad, and Matt keeps calling my answering machine to see if I changed it yet. But he misplaced the marriage certificate that the minister handed him like in the ceremony and we won't get another for like 10 weeks or some shit. I can't change naything until I do SSN and I can't do SSN w/o the marriage certificate! Ugh. So yay for you! Cuz I want mine done already. -
Some more pix from Carly's wedding :o)
boscobel replied to Jacqueline's topic in CONGRATS & Shout outs!!
Yay! I love seeing pics that I haven't seen yet of my shindig! Did you upload yours to the kodakgallery yet? I can help you if you need help... -
I like what Rachel said. My favorite TTD shots are always bride and groom in a surprising place. The water ones aren't my favorites usually. Except for Kelly and Everton's, cuz those were steamy. So depending on what style you want, I think you should use your dress.

Congrats, Mo! That's awesome! It will be great for brides to have a TA that actually got married at the resort as well.

Happy birthday, Alyssa! Any special plans this weekend?

Fun Chat Thread: What is the one thing you are glad you spent $$$ on?
boscobel replied to Alyssa's topic in Chit Chat Corner!
My dress. It was like 3x's the budget, but I absolutely loved everything about it. Once thing I wish I had done was hired a professional photographer for the wedding in JA. I didn't cuz I figured we are for the AHR and those photos would be enough. I thought that the guest in JA would get pictures and I wouldn't need the resort no-talent-photogs and couldn't justify spending twice on a professional photog. But now I wish I did. -
I am so excited to have a new neighbor! Such a cute house, and I am so happy for you guys! You totally deserve it!

Hey Alyssa, I checked the tags last night and the designer is "roulette". I never heard of them, but I bought it at Macy's in the winter, it was on clearance. I did a quick google for it, but didn't find it... Omg, I don't know what to say. I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you and your FI. Again, I am so sorry.

Damn, that stinks. So sorry it didn't work out. Damn those other partiers!

I got my shoes!
boscobel replied to JennyK's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I love those shoes! Great choice, Jenny! -
They sure are! (Now the fools are complaining that they have to were pajamas to the AHR instead of being happy they can be comfortable! Ok, maybe not all of them, just Matt's brother, and Matt's sister is complaining that she has to wear the dress while her husband gets to wear pajamas. I could punch them both, selfish jerks.) Now, how could I forget to include the starfish picture! He held up well, Jen had packaged it up real well when she sent it to me, so I kept it in that package for my travels and will probably send it to you the same way, since it seems to have worked out well! I have a reminder set to mail it to you, but I forgot to bring it to work yesterday or today, so I will def remember tomorrow. Here is the pictures...
