  1. Oh I certainly don't think I'm the cutest, but I did love taking them. Well, maybe not taking them, but the end result after weeding out the bad ones. I just made my photo book this morning and I'm so excited to have it to chronicle the journey. My photog says she usually suggests women get them taken in the 7th or 8th month b/c by then you have a pronounced baby bump, but you still look mostly like yourself. Like any 3rd tri swelling hasn't started yet and your face look mostly the same. So given your circumstances, I would def look into it but just do them early! I was in my 29-30th week, I think.
  2. Wow, Nicole, what a roller coaster! I'm so glad that you are pregnant and healthy so far, though I know that doesn't relieve the stress and worry that go along with it. I never heard of a heart-shaped uterus, does that mean anything will be different for delivery? Like will you need a c-section? I'm glad you decided to share your story b/c I'm sure it will bring someone some peace in the future to hear what you've been through and to see where you are now. On a more fun note, are you finding out the sex? You're about the right time for that...
  3. I don't know if I could. I'm not against it in it's theory, but I don't know. I think it would be hard to call him Ryan every day. I think the connection might be too close. Then again, it took me awhile to be ok with using Ryan as the middle name, so who knows how I'll feel in 2 months. If we went the irish route, it couldn't be anything TOO crazy. I just got into my jammies and was going to start researching more "traditional" names to see if I can make a list. One name that I've always loved that's traditional is James, but I really prefer it for a girl. And I hate any nn for it, so I haven't mentioned it to Matt b/c he's all about nn's. Ok, off to start a brand new search from scratch!
  4. His dad's name is Antonio and we didn't really want to start the whole naming after tradition. I know that using the middle name Ryan goes completely against that, but I feel like that's different. I feel such a connection between losing Ryan and getting pregnant... I even started to think about maybe going for an Irish name. I mean, I think I have the last name for a super cool italian first name, but if he wants something more traditional, maybe we can get away from the really ethnic names, but maybe I can bring in my irishness somehow?? Honestly, I've been so busy this weekend that I literally haven't put any more thought into it then what I've typed out here so far, but I'm trying to kinda start over with a fresh new open mind.
  5. Oh my lord. This baby naming stuff is for the birds! We had our 2nd 3d ultrasound yesterday and my dad asked how we were doing on names. So I told him we had it narrowed down to two: Santino and Marcello. And Matt says "So it's really between those two? We can't still talk about it??" I said, "of course we can still talk about it, nothing is set in stone!" That was pretty much the end of that convo b/c it wasn't the time or place. Then we were out to dinner last night so I asked him to expand on it, like was he asking that b/c he had other suggestions or didn't love these two options? He comes out of no where and says he wants a more traditional name but he knows that won't happen since I like ethnic names so he never suggests them. So I asked him for some of his more traditional suggestions and he has none! He says "anything normal". Ummmm, that doesn't help. Any ideas for something he would consider traditional and I would consider unique enough to use? I'm thinking maybe we might drop the Italian connection? Dude, I really have no idea. I mean, I can't believe that I'm halfway through my 8th month and he decides to throw this curveball. Why couldn't he have said this earlier!!!

  7. I think an extra 38 lbs around the belly def sounds like no joke! I've gained just under 15 so far and I'd say that 95% of that is just my midsection (it's hard to tell, but I don't think anything else has gotten bigger) and I already feel the pressure on my pelvis and back!
  8. Bumping! We have a few social groups and would love more members/activity. Also, if you have any requests for groups, you can post here and hopefully it'll be a good match for a moderator to start! Or you can PM a mod directly if you would prefer.

  13. Has anyone had any pregnancy issues / health concerns / scares during pregnancy? I've shared my prior pregnancy stories in the loss thread, but I don't think I've talked about my scare(s) for this one. If it's not already a given, this thread can get to be TMI, so read at your own risk. I don't like to filter too much and I like to share as truly as something happened, so...read at your own risk! Obviously, given my history, I was super nervous about this pregnancy and I remember in the very beginning, maybe about 9 weeks? I had the day off of work and my sister and I were getting a pedicure and I used the bathroom before we left and there was blood. Not a lot like period blood, but it was def red blood which is considered the more dangerous kind (then brown). Luckily I was right down the road from my RE's office (RE = reproductive endocrinologist) and I called crying and they had me come right in. They were able to see that all was well with the pregnancy and that the bleeding was a result of the sac growing and it hit a blood vessel (or something). So the blood was just a temporary thing and all was well, but scary as hell!!! I think I bled for about 3 days? But always light and fresh blood. I've had other complaints throughout the pregnancy, but so far nothing that's made me completely miserable. I'll list them. lower back ache - ever since my first surgery, I've had back problems and this pain hasn't let up yet this time insomnia - if you read the other threads, you know that I had a bad year last year and was already going through a lot. I was able to take sleeping pills to help with that but once I got pregnant, I had to stop taking them and I've only had a rare good nights sleep since. I take melatonin to help me sleep and I also tried a Bach flower essence remedy called "rescue sleep" and I think that helped me as well. I also have my husband sleep in the guest room sometimes so that I have less disruptions. pee, pee and more pee - I've always had a small bladder, but man, I wasn't ready for this! Most nights I pee at least every 2 hours and some nights once per hour. It's more often during the day too. pelvic pressure - this is a more recent development and maybe it will sound weird, but the way I verbalized it to my mom was "I feel like my vagina is falling out". The pressure is crazy and it's always worst when I first stand up and walk and as I move around it gets better. upper back pain - this is also a fairly new development and I'm assuming it has to do with the changes in the way that I walk/stand/sit b/c of the extra weight in my midsection. It's not terrible, but it's def there. So far, I think that's all I have to share and like I said earlier, none of these "complaints" are really complaints, they are just observations about what's going on with my body. Ok, maybe the lack of sleep is a real complaint.
  14. I've created a few threads in this group to get some interaction going, but it seems to be a slow starter. Is there anything else that you would like to see or discuss in here? I'm pretty sure that any member has access to start a thread, but if you don't want to be the started but would like to see a topic discussed, feel free to PM me and ask me to start something for you. I'd love to get this group to be more interactive, so I'd love to hear any suggestions!
  15. Minor update: After we did the top 5 lists, we did another top 5 of our combined lists and then saw which ones overlapped on each of our lists. Then we each chose our favorite from that list and are supposed to be considering each others top choice. So far, it's going pretty well, we both have a top name and we both like the others top choice, so hopefully we can stop fighting about it! My fave: Santino Matt's fave: Marcello (mar-chel-o) I have a problem with each of them though. First, I was a fan of Marcello as a full name, but not ok with any of the nicknames that we were thinking about, and we both agreed that we didn't like Marc. (nicknames that we thought of and didn't like: Marc, Marco, Marcus, March, Cello, Lo) So I was having some problems with this b/c I knew that I would want to have something I could call him for short and I felt really bad b/c I wasn't able to really like the name that Matt picked. Until yesterday, someone suggested "Marlo" as the nickname and I love it! Now I am totally ok with Marcello being an option. The problem with Santino is that Matt wants to calls him Sonny for short but Sonny is my dads dogs name. And my dads dog is like his favorite thing in the world. I think Matt's just trying to be difficult by saying that and using it as an excuse not to chose "my" name b/c why would he even want to call his son the same name as a living family pet? Or even a deceased family pet? But I'm not getting too worried about that right now b/c I think if we decide on Santino, when he's holding his son, he's not going to want to call him Sonny b/c it's too closely related to the dog. That's where we are now! Any updates from you Casey?

  17. Congrats and welcome to the forum! I've seen pics of Moon Palace and it looks so gorgeous, great choice!
  18. Congrats and welcome to the forum! I've never been to the Riu, so can't vouch for their photograher skills, but I will say that I got married at Beaches and thought that the photog would be fine. I wanted to save some money and hassle of hiring an outside photographer and it's my biggest regret. We didn't even buy any, that's how bad they were. And we thought we would have plenty from the guests that were there, and pictures just weren't anyone elses priority. So I would def look into it. I know girs that got married at the Riu in JA back when I got married and they hired an outside photog, but I don't recall how they went about it. Maybe by having them listed as a guest? Good luck with your planning!

  21. I know mine are only a week old, but I am so glad I did them too. I remember kinda thinking "no way in hell!" about boudoir and being on here and seeing everyone's really grew on me and I've never regretted it since. That had opened my eyes to how important pictures really are and I know that I will always be glad to have memorialized my pregnancy and by a professional! Matt tried to talk me out of it (of course) and I was insistent. He kept saying things like, we have pics of you pregnant! But I hide from the camera so much that there are literally only a few pictures from Christmas day and I'm generally in the background and my pregnancy isn't the main event. I'm so so so happy I did them. And YES! Please share yours!
  22. Did you or do you plan on taking maternity photos? I'm the kind of person that hides when I see a camera come out so what I've learned is that if I plan to do a session with a photographer who I trust to make me look good, then I really don't need to worry about the fact that I hide from the camera the rest of the time! We had our maternity photos done on Sunday and so far I'm loving what she has shared with us. Here are a few teasers that were shared with me so far: Danielle Durie Design
