  1. I just need you to send me your email address and I can send you all the attachments. You can PM it to me if you don't want to post it.. Leah
  2. The only thing I was disappointed by was the DJ - I just assumed they would announce our entrance, first dance, etc.. These things weren't really a big deal to me, but I would have planned something if I had known the DJ didn't speak! If you want someone to MC, either ask a guest to take the responsibility (we ended up having the best man do it), or plan on a non resort DJ.

I'm thinking about doing the same thing but with a sage green colour instead. Not too sure about the starfish though as they will take up a lot of luggage space. They would be nice to have though. My pics show the sage green (from Michaels) - the color is really pretty next to the ocean!

No, the margaritas weren't extra - we just asked if we could do anything in addition to champagne and she said sure, what do you want? We said margaritas and she suggested all the flavors.. The buffet was $55 per person over 20 people for the gold dinner.

  7. The shoes were fine to walk in - it was much harder to walk when I took them off because I kept stepping on my dress which was hemmed at the shoe length! I love the barefoot idea but I am 5'3" and Jeff is 6'2" so I wanted heals! We brought OOT bags but didn't trust the resort to handle them so gave them out ourselves.. (and my parents brought most of them down since we already had too much luggage).
  8. Sunbride - that's funny, our dresses are similar! I guess we have similar tastes and that's why I loved your "gazebo"!! I booked my spa appts about a month in advance just for piece of mind but we could have done it there. They automatically had us all scheduled at the same time with different stylists so it didn't take forever.. I wonder if Sandra and Landy are clear about the new rules since we are all hearing different things - they might be still ironing them out, and it's possible that they just didn't apply them to us since we reserved well before the new rules came out.. Also, you are right, with 42 guests, plus us, 2 photographers and the videographer we did pretty much take up the whole place!!
  9. Yeah, my dad would NOT be OK with that much for a photographer either!! Luckily, his contribution was a gift, and he didn't pay attention to how we spent it! We basically payed for the photographer ourselves though. Another thing I forgot to tell everyone was that Sandra let me exchange the included photo package for more video time - we ended up getting 4 or 5 hours of video (which they edited into 1 1/2 hours) so basically have the whole wedding!
  10. Thanks! I love the pics too.. We saved money in so many other ways and I'm so glad we decided to splurge on Vincent!! We were taking pictures during the cocktail hour but my family said it was great - per them - the Caribbean trio was really good background music that set the happy Mexican beach wedding mood, the drinks kept coming (we requested that they bring all different flavors of margaritas and they did that and more - they even recognized the father of the groom from previous nights and brought him cans of bud!!), the food was displayed on tables - they said it was a really nice display and everyone ate as soon as one person started, they said it was really tasty!
  11. Hi Everyone! Jeff and I are still planning on posting a real review but I had to write in to answer a few questions that have come up! First, Sunbride, we stole your gazebo decoration idea - we saw it right before we left and loved it, and I sent my mom and sister out to buy green Tulle! We brought Sandra the picture that we printed from your wedding and left it with her.. looks like you may have started a new tradition!! We weren't planning to ask for the flowers in the walkway because we thought it might be too much trouble/ extra money, but Sandra said, Oh, and we can do the flowers like this too, to match your bouquets!! So, I was really pleased, it was beautiful, and no extra hassle! Here's our first set of prefessional photos: There's a couple of good ones of the gazebo and the El Patio setup. del Sol Photography associate photographer Vincent We did the buffet dinner - we had 42 guests and had to get it preapproved (Sandra emailed someone) since we were under 50 - we didn't want everyone to have one set menu. It wasn't a problem but it didn't seem like something they routinely did, and I think it would have been much more difficult if our group wasn't so close to 50. The food was wonderful - actually probably the best quality overall of the whole week! We reserved El Patio through Sandra months before the wedding - she sends a form after you finalize the date and then again 1 month before the wedding - you should definitely do that - with 2-3 weddings per day you definitely might not get what you want if you wait till the week you're down there. That being said, I really don't think any of the options are bad. We had the cocktail hour on the beach, so thought it would be easier for everyone to be off the sand for dinner, plus we were closer to the bar/ bathrooms.. El Patio was closed as a private event for us. A few people asked and I don't know why we didn't have to pay the $750 and music wasn't a problem - each of you should pin Sandra or Landy down on that before finalizing the plans.. I think it probably is most dependent on the size of your group. OK, I think that answers most of the questions I've received, but feel free to ask more! Leah
  12. Hi! We had our reception on El Patio 2 weeks ago (4/19/0 and it was beautiful. I was really happy with the location because it was private, they made it up beautifully, and I thought it was better for us not to be in the sand - also much better access to bathrooms! For our group (45 people) we were planning to pay the extra $750 to make it "private" if that was what it took to have a DJ (after reading the new music rule here). However, when we got there Sandra said "of course it is private for your group, and there is no problem with music." We had the ultimate package and a bigger group, so maybe that is why, but I was very pleased not to have to add that $750! PM me for a couple good pics of El Patio - I don't have the right version to edit/ compress/ post yet! Leah
  13. Hey all! We are off to Dreams Tulum this Monday!!! Our wedding is April 19th! We thought we'd share some of our hard work before we go. See attached for STD, First letter, Wedding Brochure, and Welcome letter. PM me if you would like editable copies...we couldn't upload the real one's because they were too big. Thanks for all of your help!!! Wish us luck and plenty of sun! Leah STD.pdf STD Letter.pdf Wedding Brochure Final.pdf Final Letter.pdf
  14. Hi All, We went directly through the resort and definitely would not do that again. The rate we got (for April 19th, 200 is $140 per person per night, $180 for the next level room. The prices seemed good, so we went with it (as opposed to the travel agent thing) - however - it has been so frustrating dealing with the resort - they lose things, confuse names, take weeks to respond, never answer all our questions, tell our guests that they can't find their reservation, and despite me asking 400 times, have still not confirmed what type of room they have reserved for us!!! We have 45 people going, and I had to send 2-3 emails per reservation to make sure they had everything right (and I'm still not that sure!!). So I would strongly suggest that everyone goes through a travel agent. I'm so ready to be done with all this planning and be laying on the beach with a fruity beverage! Oh - and for someone who asked - the cheapest option for a dinner is to do it at the World Cafe restaurant - it is a buffet restaurant and they will section off an area for your group for no extra charge - we are doing that for our welcome dinner the night before the wedding. Hope this helps!! 18 days to go!! Leah
  15. I had the same issue with setting the date. It was very frustrating as I thought it should be pretty simple! But every email only 1/2 answered my questions.. I ended up calling and spoke with Landy. She pulled out the book and figured out that my original date had a wedding at the time I wanted, and we were able to switch it. Then I emailed her and Sandra and asked them to send me a confirmation of time and date (which they did) before sending out my save the dates..
  16. Hope everything was perfect - definitely send us details - I'll be there 4/19/08 for mine! Leah
  17. Hi there! I'm just searching the site because I have this same question.. have you found anything out between EDR and Seaside?? We are debating on maybe doing one of those for the honeymoon (wedding at Dreams Tulum). Let me know if you have any info! Thanks, Leah

They quoted us more than this??! How did you get the group rate? Thanks! Leah
  19. Thanks, we are checking those out.. Do you know the difference between El Dorado Royale and El Dorado Seaside? The pictures both look really nice..
  20. Hi all, We are getting married April 19th at Dreams Tulum, and are thinking about honeymoon options -- we want to leave Dreams and check out somewhere new without flying. Thought you might have some good ideas! We are thinking-- Maybe somewhere smaller, more secluded, no kids, must have swimmable beach, romantic!! Let me know your thoughts! Leah
  21. Hi again everyone.. So, I decided on Dreams Tulum, and asked Sandra to reserve the date-- we asked for April 12th 2008 or April 19th 2008.. So, she took forever to get back to me, and never answered whether there were already other weddings on those days or not.. and said the 12th was fine but only at 3P. I'm trying to figure out if 3P is their normal evening ceremony time, if this is because there's a wedding after that (in which case I'd rather just switch dates!!), or if there's some other reason. Of course, I wrote back to her, but she takes so long to answer, and then usually only half answers my questions anyway!! Do any of you know - what times are the weddings usually done? Were you given options? Do any of you already have one of those dates reserved?? Thanks! Leah
  22. Hey, Can all you Dreams Tulum people tell me what made you pick it?? I love the pictures, but have any of you been down there? Have you heard about problems with the ride from/to airport?? What sort of rates are they giving your guests (I've been waiting for a reply from their sales dept) - have you found it more/ less/ same as other AIs in the area? How much flexibility is there in their packages? For example, can you choose some entrees from the silver menu and some from the gold? Do they have more than one wedding per day? Sorry, a lot of questions I know, but we don't think we'll have time to get down there before reserving, and it makes me nervous not to have all the answers! Thanks!! Leah

    Riviera Maya

Thanks all!! We are probably going the AI route and definitely want a nice beach that has snorkeling and scuba nearby. Kid friendly is a must. Thanks for the tip about the hurricane damage, we'll have to steer clear of the sand bags!! Price...not sure. We want our guests to be able to stay at the resort and are thinking around $200 per person per night would be acceptable. Thanks again! Leah & Jeff
