Mi Casa has a great atmosphere, and is always lively. There's always "that table" having a great time, with a few too many margs...which is exactly why we chose it. The food is fantastic and the atmosphere and colors are even better! Check out their website to see the colors & decor. I also took some pics I can attach on Tuesday of the space we are renting to help with an idea.
  7. I've got an olive-based skin tone, but it looks good on all tones. It's very easy to use, and you can use more if needed, or just go light. I really love it, and it's perfect for the summertime! I use Tarte's Blushing Bride also, but in the summer it's too heavy.
  8. Just a little FYI, I have Lemon Aid and I love it! I use it on my eyelids (not under eye) and especially on the weekends when I don't want to wear full makeup, but I want a little "oomph" Love it! I also love Benetint, it's the best for cheeks and lips, but very natural and just a great little "pinched cheek" color. Ok, off topic, sorry!
  9. Welcome Amber! Let us know how we can help! There is so much information on this website, I just love it!

    Hello

Welcome Leann! Can't wait to hear all about your wedding!
  11. Welcome Morgan! Don't worry about finding a place - it'll happen! We changed our minds at least 10 times that I can think of, all different types of locations: Santa Fe, NM, Cabo, Anguilla (Cap Juluca), Las Vegas, back to Santa Fe, British Virgin Islands, back to Anguilla, Fort Worth (to make it easy!) and finally back to Cabo! I wish I would have found this site a long time ago, so you're already in a good position to just read and gather ideas. I'm in Fort Worth...so I know how you feel about Texas! My FI hates the weather (b/c he's from Albuquerque!) Welcome!
  12. Yes, I think they checked my card when we walked in...but I don't remember them checking when I purchased anything. I'm sure they have a "day pass" or something like that you could purchase (assuming it doesn't add too much to the total purchase price to justify bringing it all to the resort!)
  13. Tammy, just FYI, if you're going to La Europea, they're closed on Sundays! But I'm sure Costco is open!

Although it would be equally pretty when you enter the reception, or as Courtney said, during the first dance. Personally, I would order more. People like sparklers. And some people will light theirs a little early. . .and it will burn out. . .and they'll want another one etc. Although that probably depends on what the burn time is on yours. I know there are some that burn longer...but most burn out fairly fast. I would say at least 1 per person - you may end up with a few extras but I think the more the better...and that way everyone can have their own. :-) Also, you'll want to maybe test one and see how difficult they are to light. One wedding I went to, the sparklers were super hard to light for some reason...so the guests only had like 1/3 of them lit when the bride and groom were walking out...they were already in their limo by the time the majority of them were lit! I would reccomend either long matches (which worked fine at my wedding) or have a few people with those big, long lighters...like you would use to light the grill or the fireplace. Those work really well too. And just for fun. . .pictures! Here are a couple of the sparklers from my wedding. I love the contrast of the sparklers and the night. They look wonderful! Just wanted to add that!
  15. Lisa, those are fabulous! What a great idea...think I'll have to order some...!
  16. Most resorts will charge corkage fees for any alcohol brought in and not provided by the hotel. Sometimes it's cheaper, so make sure and do the full math before making a decision. Costco is great, they have a great selection at very reasonable prices. And yes, your card will work there too! Another store I checked out after reading a thread about it is La Europea. It's sort of a specialty store, they carry all kinds of alcohol (very good prices), lots of little bottles for OOT bags, and gourmet snacks. We had a great time just perusing the aisles when we were in Cabo last. Here's the blip about it that I copied from an earlier thread: La Europea Supermarket LA EUROPEA MEXICO S.A. DE C.V. Whether you go at the beginning of your trip or the end, La Europea is, I'm fairly certain, the best place to go with the least expensive high-end wines and spirits and, to my knowledge, the ONLY place you can go in Cabo for $1 six-packs of Corona or Pacifico (depends on the day or maybe year). There are at least 6 world class tequilas there--from 1942 to Herradura to Don Julio to Jose Cuervo 1800 Anejo or the private reserve. All are priced at nearly 60% of what you'll pay in the US so bring room in your suitcase (lord knows you can't bring liquids in the airplane...). They also have a great selection of pate's, tapenades and other upscale yuppie snacky stuff we love. La Europea is located about a mile east of the Home Depot (yup, one here, too) on the north side of the corridor highway. I think it's closed Sundays
  17. Just another reason to love Target anymore! I love that place!
  18. One of our favorite things to do is have a wine & cheese night. We don't make dinner at all, instead, we head to a gourmet grocery store and load up on olives, cheese, crackers/break and wine. We come home, make a huge spread and watch something stupid on TV like Cops or 48 Hours Mystery! It sounds lame but it's great that something as easy as changing up routine can make an evening enjoyable. Plus, we love each other's company, so we could do nothing at all and still have a blast.
  19. Great topic! I think tipping is completely discretionary, and completely dependent upon the type of service received. For example, at the Fiesta Americana, there is a service charge added to banquets and also to rooms...that gets distributed to everyone from housekeeping to food prep, so I'm not going to tip specific waiters, etc. I'm sure some of it goes to the house too. However, I am going to tip my Event Coordinator, the musicians for sure (and feed them, they are vital to the event) and probably my photog. So I think it just comes down to who you think really made the event extra-special...did they put in extra effort, or were they just doing thier job?!
  20. Jonathan, I think it all boils down to the type of exposure you are looking for. Personally, I think it would be an excellent business decision. I spend more time looking at that magazine than any other. Other magazines tend to mesh together in my mind for some reason, but when I read GO, the detail is phenomenal and the quality of the ads & articles are top notch. I say go for it, and if you do, let us know so I can find your ad!
  21. I LOVE Grace Ormonde...I get giddy just thinking about it! I use it for ideas, locations, decor, themes, dreaming, etc. I also use the vendor ads for ideas - for example, the photography ads I use to analyze certain pictures I might like to have, or lighting, the way something is shot, etc. So I would absolutley say go for it...it would be excellent exposure in my opinion. Plus the book is just so pretty!
  22. La Golondrina is great, but I prefer El Faro Viejo. Golondrina is the tourist version of the trailer park idea, and El Farro Veijo is the original! It's a great atmosphere!
  23. Ok, just my two cents here. First, I would absolutely avoid the tanning beds...for obvious health reasons and for skincare issues. Exposure to sunlight can mess with your skin's balance, meaning the sun does wonderful things in the short term, like clear up skin, etc, but eventually your skin will start producing more oil to compensate for the dryness. I would be concerned that my face would freak out and break out after a month or so! I suggest using Jergens Natural Glow moisturizer. It's a lotion with subtle tanner that takes a while to actually become apparent. It's the most natural looking tanner I have ever used, and my friends & I all use it and swear by it. It gives you a healthy looking tan, not orange at all. They make three levels (Light, Medium, Dark) so you can apply with confidence knowing you're not going to overdo it initially. I had a friend use it for a few weeks before her wedding and she was perfectly sun-kissed, just healthy looking. Plus, it's cheaper than a tanning membership! The catch is you have to be diligent about using it, since it is such a small dose, you have to use it regularly (like once a day for four days). As for teeth, I use Go Smile, although it's pricier than any of the strips, I like the convenience of just brushing it on and forgetting about it. No need to wait for the strips to finish, and none of that uncomfortableness that happens when I use the strips. Just my thoughts!
