Seating & meals for Vendors?
dragonfly replied to BRENDASTAR's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I am wondering the same thing, and what about if all your vendors are supplied by the resort? Do they just want to do their job and go home? Kelly~ -

How often are resort photographers good?? Does any one know?? I have seen resort pics and I am not loving them (probably because I have been watching slideshows of some of the best on this forum, I have high expectations now) I wonder how open photographers are to suggestions on what you want. I am worried, if my pics aren't good we really think we might head to Mexico, next year for a belated honeymoon, bring our wedding clothes and book Sol or Juan to take some tash the dress pics, does that soung crazy?? Kelly~

I love #3, it has a great over all resort feel, which might be nice since you originally wanted a destination wedding, but having said that I absolutely loved the greenhouse reception our friends had at #2. It was different and romantic and didn't have that run of the mill wedding feel, you know what I mean. I think you couldn't go wrong with either of these venues. Kelly~ Oh yeah you might want to consider the bug issue, how will the mosquittos be at all of these venues, June in Ontario, prime mosquitto time. Find out if any of the venues spray for them Also keep that in mind when planning your service, no sunset ceremonies, or you will be the buffet(lol) -
Wedding in Cabo - Budget questions

Bradley, what beautiful photos. Kelly~ -
I am going to be honest, not really crazy about them. Flowers scream romance, and what is a wedding without flowers. The balls might be pretty hanging, but a bride needs flowers. HeHe can you imagine tossing that bouquet, you could take out your bridal party.

Ocho Rios wedding idea...need opinions
dragonfly replied to MaureenM618's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
My best friend is actually, staying at the same resort, and also getting married at the Ruins. I can't wait to go it looks so pretty. We are going May/2008. We are going to the wedding but are actually going to stay somewhere else. We are going to take this oppurtunity to have a belated honeymoon, in Jamaica. Our wedding is going to be 2 weeks in Punta Cana with 5 kids, not much of a honeymoon. When is your wedding going to be? Kelly~ -
Wear a veil, not to many occasions call for a veil, you will feel very bridal. The one you chose is so beautiful, it reminds me of something my grandmother may have worn. I wasn't going to wear a veil, but my daughter talked me into it, it is beautiful. I am going to wear it at the back kind of under a messy bun, with flowers in the bun, I think it will look pretty and beachy at the same time. My veil has a satin edging and falls mid way down the back of my strapples gown. Kelly~

Do you have a moh or bm, you could ask them to send out the invite, it is always easier to ask for money on someone elses behalf, just another idea.

I'm probably one of the few that has actually been to 2 of your venues. #1 I am curious about where your service would be, I really like the view of the water, and if there is a wrap around deck then that would be beautiful. I have never been there so I can't really offer opinions on it. #2 I have been here for a wedding it was beautiful, I love the greenhouse it is so pretty. , is there a back up plan, if it rains, for the ceremony #3 My favourite place. It is a place I have vacationed at alot over the years. If you want a resort feel this is the place. The water is beautiful, scenery breathtaking, and your friends and family could book to stay there, which would be nice. You could also stay there, it is so romantic in the evening, sitting out on your porch. If you stay here have a massage, the best massage I have ever had. And the spa area is in the middle of the woods, oh so peaceful. Well I guess you know my vote is. Kelly~ -

Vote for your destination!
dragonfly replied to TammyWright's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
We chose Dominican Republic because it was not Jamaica (my husbands family is from Jamaica and they wanted to go somewhere else), we also would have had alot of FH relatives that we didn't really know, expect to be invited. Cost also came into play, DR was cheaper then most places (we are paying for 8 people). The beaches are breathtaking in Punta Cana, and the resort we chose is newer, and accessible, my daughter is sick and needs a wheelchair. Kely~ -

How to thank bridal shower hostesses?
dragonfly replied to SarahMc's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I was raised to bring a hostess gift to whatever function you attend, regardless if it is for you or not. Wine, candle, candy, flowers are always safe bets. Since the function is for you a nice thank you card should come after the event, people want to know that you thought of them later on, it is easy to thank someone during the function, but some thought and effort has to go into to do it later on. Pre-Marital Counselling
dragonfly replied to ~Melissa~'s topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
We will not be doing councelling now, but having said that we have done it on numerous occasions throughout our many years together. When we first moved in together we fought about the children alot, our roles were blurred, blending families was difficult so we sought an impartial view, it helped. We went again after our baby was born, again very stressful finding our place and learning how to be parents to the same child, we also had our childrens issues over their new sibling, which added stress to us. We then sought councelling 2 years after my daughter fell ill, she had been sick for so long and we forgot to focus on each other all we took care of was the kids, not each other, we needed to figure out how to understand each other, and learn how to reconnect while dealing with issues that were not going to go away. We then once again did a little mini session (I didn't want to go Everton made me) when my dad suddenly passed away (I was not easy to live with) Marriage is tough, and when faced with the little (or big) bumps along the way I think it is good to seek help, I didn't the first time around in my first marriage, this marriage is going to last and I will do the work it takes to make sure it does. Take the councelling it sets you up for a successful marriage. Kelly~ -
Welcome, Are your wedding plans all going smoothly? Love to hear about them. Kelly~

Opinions Needed: Door Hangers
dragonfly replied to RAENJAY's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I think the tag should be used else where. The door hangers are cute, I also don't think you need the ribbon on the bottom, but for me the more simple something is the better. Question though, is it safe to hang your names on the doorknobs in a foreign country, I am such a safety freak, that my mind always goes to these places. Kelly~ -
Hi welcome, go with Bermuda, we don't have alot of brides here with that as their destination, so it could be interestng for us!hahaha Kelly~

I would seat your parents close to you and then the wedding party with their dates. Remember it is a more intimate venue then most home weddings, therefore I think dates should be with each other. Nothing more romantic then a wedding, and with romance in the air you want to be seated next to the object of your affection.Kelly~

The Final Dress! (Finally!)
dragonfly replied to laura b's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Aaahhhh thank you, I think I might have to change my pic, He seems to be distracting to people(lol), but I love having him staring at me when I am posting. I have 4 others just as cute, but he's the baby, would you like to borrow him while I take a vacation (lol). Don't let his sweet looks fool you. don't you see the mischief in his eyes? Kelly~
