I am seriously terrified of birds, not kidding would go running screaming into traffic if one ever comes near me, so my worst gift was the bird feeder and 20 pound bag of bird seed my brother and sil gave me for my birthday. Wtf am I suppose to do with that invite the little birdies into my back yard for the joy of being freaked out daily, the other thing is I had 2 cats that were master hunters, what a great idea bringing their prey to them. My brother knew how scared I was of birds, so I have no idea what the intention was for the gift. It went into the basement to never see the light of day til I moved and then it saw the garbage.

I am sure your girls didn't know that they weren'y going to like them until they arrived, it is so hard when ordering on-line. I would stay away from on-line ordering at this point (what is they arrive and they hate them also or they don't fit) and take a day to go shopping and find the dress they will all be comfy in. All the girls are giving you American stores tp check out, in Canada I would try Fairweathers they have lot's of dresses, le Chateau is another good one, or how about a large dept store like The Bay. It is prom season so you should be able to find a pretty good selection this time of year. Good Luck, I bought my girls dresses at Guess, and Laura's. Good luck, try and look at this as a chance to hang out with your girls one last time before the weddding and do some shopping and have some lunch, could be fun.

I agree if she had said the resort photographer my answer would have been very different, but Claudia is wonderful, so it is a win/win situation:)

Ice Breaker Games for AHR?
dragonfly replied to jmhein's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
I will be socially retarded with you any day Karen, now theres a incentive to make people want to join us for our NY get together, hehehe -
We figured if people wanted to hang with us they would join us no matter what group we were with. I was so busy with my kids that some of my friends literally just followed me around, everyone else seemed to find one another and yes we had everyone mingelling with one another, it was great. I think what helped with our group is we had a couple of functions before we left on our trip that allowed everyone a chance to know each other. They also were all on the same plane together, we were already in the DR, and by the time they got off the bus at our resort they had all bonded with one another:) I suggest that you plan at least one excursion fro everyone to join in, and the afternoon volly game was a huge hit, some played, some didn't, and some cheered us on but at least it was a place that we all knew we would be at if you wanted to join in.

Ice Breaker Games for AHR?
dragonfly replied to jmhein's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
In all honesty I am not a big fan of games, I think a few drinks in everyone will relax and havee fun without the games. I am the wrong person to ask however, because I really hate being asked to play games, it makes me feel like I am at a kids party, jmho, I also find it awkward getting them organized. Now ask me about drinking games, and I will have a whole other opinion, hehehe:) -

Yeah Jason being a guy I am sure you have room for a towel, I need the room for all of the shoes I like to travel with, I just put my bright red patent stilettos on my chair and it helps me remember where my stuff is, lol. Oh and if you would slow down on your liquid intake then maybe you would have remembered where your stuff was

We did a couple of things as a large group, like all 40 of us went atv'ing, we had dinner a couple of times together, and we had daily vollyball games, but for the most part everyone did there own thing. Our resort was pretty contained and our rooms were all together so we met in the courtyard alot. We all set up our pool chairs together, if we saw people eating we would join them, and we met up with most of our friends in the evening, our mom's and their friends headed in for the nite. It was known where on the beach our group was, and at the end of the day most of us seemed to be at the pool bar.The lobby bar was always a place in the evening that we knew their would be a group, it all worked out pretty well and everyone had fun. We also posted stick it's on our doors to let people know where we were headed, they were a great idea.

I did my own makeup, I really wanted to look natural. I did bring two different shades of powder and makeup in case I got more tanned than I hoped to get.

Any time, happy birthday to your little princess:)

Sucks about the Skank:) I would give your fi a pass, I know I wouldn't go if it was me. Let him go and blow off steam with the guys and you go to the grad, you don't need(neither does fi) anymore drama before the wedding, jmho:)

Aww sweet, why should the guys miss out on all the fun, I will be interested to hear what kind of shower gifts are given to a man:)

Yeah my wedder planner had said the same thing. Yes plans will be finalized upon arrival, but I think you at least want to see the menu choices, flower choices (and price lists), location choices for ceremony/reception. I choice my reception venu months before, time of ceremony, especially if other brides are getting married on your day. You want to know your options for music and prices as well. Ask what their table arrangements are going to be like. so you can plan centre pieces, find out if they have candles, and do you like them, colour of lineans, there is so much to know before hand so that you can budget properly nad know what you need to bring down on you end. Come up with a list of questions and ask her to answer and follow through with the info on the details you are enquiring about. Good luck

Liquid Diets.....Anybody tried one?
dragonfly replied to twinkletoes's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
Here's my two cents worth, our bodies are created to do exactly what this cleanse is suppose to do for you. Nature gave us all of the right devises in order to keep our body cleansed of all the toxins. It's much smarter than we think. Our system comes with many safety nets and when it encounters such toxins, it acts to rid them from the body. It accomplishes this task through metabolization, through urination, through sweating, through vomiting, through induction of the Number Two factor, and even through exhalation (via the lungs). The intestines will empty themselves completely if you eat a high-fiber diet. I recently saw a report by a popular doctor (Dr. Mehmet Oz, from Oprah) who did such an experiment, with the premise “Does internal cleansing work?†They took a group of young women (after binging and partying) and separated them into 2 groups; one the cleansing group, the other, the eating “normally†group. Both groups were tested before and after the cleansing program. After the studying the data the researchers saw NO difference in the liver’s ability to clean and rid the body of toxins. Even the doctor was surprised by the results. When it comes to detoxing and cleansing, turns out, our bodies (namely our livers and kidneys) know what to do and how to do it, for what it's worth:) -
