How do you tell/ask MOH to step down
dragonfly replied to amanda&gabe2008's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Planning a wedding is stressfull but I do think it is too soon to plan showers, bachelorette partys, these are also not always a given, it is just a nice perk. Instead of waiting for her to offer her help, you should try asking her over for drinks and ask her if she would mind helping you out with your std's. Then when it is time for the next thing on your list a couple of months down the road ask for her help once again. A list can be overwhelming, just ask her one thing at a time, then it won't seem as your being too demanding on her. I do agree with Nabubbah, a wedding is about you, and you can not expect anyone else to want to plan your wedding. I too am planning a wedding, welcome reception, and a farewell dinner for 45 people in DR, a ahr, a before we go barbq, and I still have my family to take care of. My girls are my MOH's, so no help there LOL. I had to know that it was going ot be work, and if any help comes your way great, and if not oh well. It will be stressful, you will get through it (so the girls keep telling me) but it is certainly not worth losing friendships over. Kelly~ -

I got great personlized cups from discountmugs.com I was able to order 45 mugs for $4.89 per mug (the more you buy the cheaper they are). The screen charge was $39.99. The mugs are really nice, I got clear plastic with a stainless steel inside that you can see through the plastic I had it personlized with a claddagh symbol and Friendship, Love and Loyalty written above the claddagh, and underneath the symbol we had Dominican Rebublic. The customer service has been great, and the delivery dates are quick, and the selection is huge. Just a little tip, we decided not to put our names on the cups so that after the wedding people would still want to use the cups, I just couldn't see people wanting to take their mugs to work with Everton & Kelly written on them, and after all they are a gift for them, this is why we came up with a symbol everybody would like but the bar tenders would still recognize our wedding guests by their cups. I have yet found another exercise that makes me feel so great. I am trying weight training (not liking it, so boring & time consuming), I need to bulk up a bit, running can sometimes give you that skinny runner look, and Everton (being a black man) likes a woman with a little more booty unlike my skinny white ass. Need suggestions: how to remember his father
dragonfly replied to SusanK's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
This is a very important part of the ceremony to me, my father passed away last August of Cancer also. Evertons younger sister also passed away suddenly the year before that, so it is important to us to honour these important people in our lives. We are saying a irish blessing and at the end of it we are having our mothers ring a tiny bell to remember them, I also like the idea of the empty chairs, maybe we will place the bells on the chairs. I will also be wearing a locket with my fathers picture in it. I am sorry for all of you who have lost your loved ones, I know how difficult it is. Kelly~ -
OOHHHH a topic i know tons about!!!!! I have a beautiful large dragonfly that I designed (it's black and very tribal looking) on my back between my shoulder blades. I also have just below my rib cage on my side (where your hip curves) the symbol for venus(women) and a beautiful large guardian angel, sitting with her arms around her legs and head bowed ( Kenda designed this one). I also have on my the left of my back (hip area) two small dragonflys with the concellations of scorpio, tauraus and capricorn (my childrens concellations) all around them, The last one I have is a four leaf clover just in the dip of my hip bone (all of my brothers and sisters got this when my dad died, I also got the guardian angel and one of my dragonflys for the same reason) I love my tattoos they all have very special meaning for me. I do have alot, but they can all be covered up when I need to go into beaver cleaver mom mode, hehehe, like that ever happens LOL. So want to talk piercings now!!!! (just kidding) Kelly~

I was ordering my sand dollars, and it was so expensive with shipping, that I have change my mind. I can't find any Canadian sites, and I have looked!! Being Canadian has cost an arm and a leg with shipping, my cups were a fortune in shipping. I have my best friend in the states so I have sent some things to her but I don't want to overburden her with stuff to have to remember for MY WEDDING. Good luck Courtney, but I think you are just going to have to accept the shipping costs, or give up as I did!!!! Kelly~

silly question...........
dragonfly replied to cessyboston's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I would say women first, but I don't know if this is a fair place to get your answer!!!!LOL Funny now that I'm thinking about it I always sign my name last when I' m signing a card with me, Everton and all of our children. oooh I bet a therapist would have a field day with that one, it's kind of how life works out. You start off your marriage your name first, then your hubby and kids come along, and before you know it your last on the list of names, everyone else always comes first!!!! Kelly~ -

I see that you are my neighbour, I live in Oshawa, it is so nice to have another Canadian girl from my neck of the woods. I got my bags at the dollar store!!! They are great mesh beach bags, I bought blue, and green ones. I haven't figured out how to post pics yet, I am not computer friendly!!!! My bags turned out great! I am about to go for a run in about 5 minutes, it is 5:25am here in ontario, I have to try and get my run in before the kids wake for school, and Liam wakes to start his very busy day!!! Kelly~

My best friend lives in Iowa, so I keep having things shipped to her, she is going to have more to bring to the DR for my wedding then I will. LOL So you like the shell idea better then sand dollar alone Kelly~
-
Thanks Courtney it is the second site on your list. Now I am wondering do you like this idea for place cards, or is it tackey? Would it be better to just do the sand dollar alone, without the shell holder, and just lay it flat above the place setting? I have also ordered these cool irish claddagh coins and touch stones with words on them. Am I better of arranging the grouping of the three things, then laying them flat with peoples names on the sand dollar. My centre pieces are tons of pillar candles of various heights, in muted golds, burnt orange and browns (all mixed together in one candle). I am going for a very natural simple effect, that is why I am questioning the sea shell. I want the sand dollars, because I am going to put my guests names on the front (and use them a the place card)and ask them to write a message on the back (who ever idea this was, I love it). I am wa overthinking things and driving myself crazy, so help me girls figure this one out. Kelly~

Wow that was fast, thanks girls!!!! Kelly~

Courtney A few days ago you posted a bunch of different sites for sand dollars and star fish, I am trying got locate one of them and I can't! I am looking for the site that sells the sand dollars and these shells that you place the sand dollar in it so the sand dollar stands up, I want to do this as my place cards. Do you think you could take the time to help me find the site I am looking for, I am pretty darn sure it was one you posted. It would be greatly appreciated, and would help me cross something off my list. Thanks, Kelly~

Post your OOT Bag Photos!
dragonfly replied to LCBride2007's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I pretty much finished my oot bags today, all 40 of them, yeahh!!! I lucked out and found these great beach mesh bags at the dollar store. I got them in this great blue colour, and the other is a green colour. The colours are very beachy and compliment each other. I put in every bag, 18oz stainless steal personalized insulated travel mug, a beach motif travel candle, (the ones from Michaels that someone posted in another thread), pina coloda or Margarita's hand cream, bath salts, squisshy stress ball, coco butter lip balm, playing cards, travel first aid kit, water guns, and spanish phrases. As well as all of that I added to the 6 teen girls bags pens and notebooks. I added to all of our single friends bags condoms! I did seperate childrens bags, for the 6 little ones, travel magna doodles, water balls, mini fish aquarium, squishy stress balls, water guns, lip balm, toy dogs for the girls, and sizzling magnets(?) for the boys, crayons and colouring books, and a couple of simple craft projects. For the older kids, Squisshy stress balls, magnets, playing cards, water guns, soduko books, note books, pens, lip balm, water discs, and underwater disposable cameras. I put the 6 little ones gifts in tote bags, Nemo for the boys, and pooh for the little girls. The only problem I am having is I would like to add something to the mens bags, but I don't know what, any ideas? Kelly~ -
