  1. Here's mine, I love this picture of us, it is from our legal ceremony and it captured exactly the feeling of the moment where we make legal what has always been true in our hearts:) My avatar is Kenda's contribution to my valentine signature also, don't you love it!
  2. Since I have not read the other posts I am sorry if I am repeating what has already been said. You must check with the resort. We were only allowed real rose petals so not to litter the beach. The rose petals were only like $10.00 abg and we had tons.
  3. Try this, pick a new recipe out of a really great cookbook, and then have fun. Once a month I try to find a recipe that we have never had before and we make it. We have had some really great meals this way. I love salmon for a romantic meal. It is light and you don't feel heavy and full because who wants to feel bloated if the idea of the night is romance
  4. Dominican Republic in August, you bet your ass they used them:) The men actually used them more then the girls, so splurge and buy 10 more.I bought mine in China Town in Toronto, do you have anything like that where you live, because they were so cheap.
  5. I love the first one. The lace and sash are so pretty. Which one did you choose?
  6. Jenn you are the picture of true happiness. What a beautiful wedding and the place you chose was so perfect. Thank you for sharing your pictures they are wonderful. Kelly~
  7. My experience is money usually will always get you what you want. Tell them you don't want the cheesy heart arch, I opted out of the pillars offered by our hotel I felt simple was better. As for the length of the ceremony tell the hotel you are adding a few of your own personal touches to the ceremony and that should add some time to the length of your wedding. Relax you can have the wedding of your dreams you just need to stay firm and make it clear to the wc at the hotel what your wishes are. Good luck.

Also, when we landed in Jamaica anyone who had been to DR in the preceding 6 months (and some other countries) were detained at the airport by immigration officials because of health concerns. Not to scare you, but IMO I would give yourself the best shot at staying healthy because it is a small burden compared to the alternative. Our rep at the hotel told us that the hotel had a filtration system just not to drink the water but washing, and brushing was fine. I think alot of the resorts in the dr have their own filtration system's in place.
  9. I found my boys , age5/12 at the Gap (you could look online at gap kids) You could also look at old navy, H&M, or Mexx for kids. I don't know if you can see the boys shirt in the picture below but they looked great on both of them. They were white with a blue pinstripe and an very subtle embroidered(sp) flower on the side and across the back in the same blue, perfect for a beach wedding. Good luck finding what you want.
  10. We brushed our teeth and washed our cups with the tap water, it was no big deal to us and I have a weak stomach. The kids even brushed their teeth and were fine. Just don't drink the water, I am sure it would be fine to wash your cups with, that's jmho
  11. The only thing I would keep in mind is what your planinng on using the bottles for, if it is water great. If however it is alcohol I would think the bottles would not be as easy as the cups for the bartenders to make your drinks in, or to pour the drinks from another cup into. Cleaning them will also be more difficult. Just a couple of things to think about. My guests used their cups all of the time, and I do mean all the time, they were never without them.
  12. Thanks for my laugh of the day, I am just picturing a bunch of kilts blowing in the wind, and a bunch of lily white asses in all there glory saluting your guests, . Could make for some interesting wedding pictures:) I say let his groomsmen talk him out of it, hehe, I can't imagine the idea will be their ideal beach attire, I can't really picture barefeet and kilts, and the alternative, knee socks will make for some interesting tans, LOL!
  13. Jaime that is so nice, your grandparents were a great looking couple. I really wanted to wear my grandmothers veil when I was first married but was sad to learn all of her wedding attire was burned in a fire.
  14. I didn't have arches and I thought it looked beautiful. The water was the only backdrop I needed. Here are some pictures of the ceremony site.
  15. We had a beautiful church ceremony ( our very wonderful friend who is a minister married us) with our children hours before leaving for the DR. It was really beautiful and special but it in no way took away from our ceremony in the DR. We also told no one about this ceremony. My siggy picture is actually during this ceremony.
  16. Welcome you will find ton's of help here:)
  17. Welcome and don't put a label on your dress, you can wear whatever you want, we all did:) Stop googling and go out and try on dresses you won't really know what you like until you do this. So many of us on here started off thinking we liked one thing and ended up loving something completely different, ask any of our 2 dress (or more) bride girls. Good luck, and Belize sounds wonderful. Kelly~
  18. I at some point wore all of the above:) flip flops to the ceremony site, barefeet on the beach, and some great heals for my reception!
  19. All I can tell you is my whole group 40+ all did this and had the best day. We even brought the little ones so it was perfect for all ages. Ours included ATV"s, horseback riding and swimming in some great caves. We bargained (as you do with everything in the DR) to get a great price. We booked ours on the beach in front of the hotel, the hotel excursion was a lot more money.Oh yeah wear old clothes you will never get the mud out of your shirts:)
  20. I visited a few jewelers who we had heard had good reputations, and we ended up choosing the one that showed me the most beautiful loose diamonds that I could choose myself for my ring. Te problem I was having was my e-ring has a very high quality diamond on a very thin band, and all the wedding bands that were thin enough had really awful quality diamonds. Choosing my own diamonds gave me the sparkle my e-ring deserved:)
  21. My cups of course were the most used item, my actual oot bag was used by everyone, it was a mesh beach bag. We also could spot the bag on the lounge chairs and we would know that it was someone from our group. Some did play cards, and the first aid kit came in handy. I did lotion and bath salts and I don't think it was a must. We also had stick it's and a pen and they were well used everyone left little note's on everyone's door, like at the beach, or gone to lunch, it allowed us to track each other down since our resort was quite large. Hope this helps. Oh yeah lot's of people used the fragrant travel candle in their room so I would say this was a good item.
  22. Could you call her and tell her how much you wanted to spend time with her? Maybe she just really doesn't understand how much this means to you. If she still doesn't come, I think you have to let it go, fighting with her is not going to make you feel better, it will just add drama that you don't need. Maybe plan a seperate sisters nite out later on to make up for the missed lunch. Remember our weddings are OUR most important committment, not everyone elses, and sometimes it suck's for us, but not worth lost relationships
  23. Do what ever you want, I had my 5 year old son Liam and I still didn't use him as a ring bearer, lost rings in the sand ahhh I don't think so! Liam carried a bucket full of rose petals, yes he wanted to be our flower boy, so our flower boy he was. Everton just carried our rings himself. Good luck
