Thanks girls--glad you liked the pics! Jayhawkbride-- we got married at the Sheraton Buganvilias in Puerto Vallarta. Loved that place! Our guests are already making plans to go back and stay there. I wrote a really loong wedding review that was in this forum, but I think has been moved out to the wedding reviews area (makes it more difficult to find....let me see if I can post the link here) if you are looking for some input on a location. I can't say enough good things about this place : ) Hope this link works: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t11734 If you want any other info, just let me know. Good luck! -
So mad at CasaMagna Marriott!!!!
hls140 replied to Yari's topic in Puerto Vallarta Accommodations & Site
Horrible!!!! I'm so sorry that they did this to you! I can't believe that they'd even admit their reasons for releasing a verbally (and supposedly contractually on the way) commitment to you. I'm sure they thought that they were going to get more money with more people, so I'd be sure to remind that location--and corporate-- that they are losing you as customers as well as any of us on here who sympathize with you!! Makes me sick that they would do that to you and I'm sorry : ( -

My vote is for doing it outdoors at the Sheraton--the Las Carretas garden is gorgeous and less than 25 yards from the water--that helps!!! Every tiny bead of sweat will be worth it : ) Plus, the breeze will totally pick up once the sun falls! -

Ladies--so nice to receive all of these wonderfully nice compliments after being away ---off the wedding circuit--for a while (although I guess I'm technically still on it since our AHR is in three weeks!). Thanks, girls--glad you enjoyed the pics : ) Judy, I was actually a November bride-- and it was hot enough for during the daytime to want to be in the pool the whole day (I did not, for one second, lay in a chair). But, I will say, when we got married--around 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 3 (so sunset was at 6:20-6:30), it wasn't as bad as I had feared. I believe it was about 87 degrees at that point. You know, the magic of getting married to the perfect person for you kind of makes you forget about any heat or sweat : ). If I had to do one thing differently, I'd go for a less formal dress---I mean, mine was silk taffeta, with the fluffy stuff underneath (can't think of what its called) and then another thick layer of something under that--I mean thick). It was heavy. If I had to do it all over again and only change one thing, I'd go with the Casablanca dress : ). Oh and use the oil blotting papers that I had more! But, in the end, the heat wasn't so bad and everything turned out like a dream!!! Jace, my husband, said he was hot, but.... he was out in the sun for at least an hour before I arrived helping with some last minute detail stuff, but nothing that he really minded (he said). And, when we were near the water, there was a breeze that felt cooling, so I'd say you and your FI will be fine!! Plus, not a single one of our guests or wedding party complained about the heat--only said it was the most beautiful wedding ever! And you'll hear that too : ) -
AHR question...
hls140 replied to hls140's topic in Destination Weddings in Puerto Vallarta & surrounding areas
That's great information....so, I'll just let things happen as they may and try to get my mother on the same page : ). Thanks for the encouragement girls, I'll definitely wear the dress then! -
I think its a great idea! We did one on Sunday and out of the 40 guests that we had, about 30 or so were able to come and really enjoyed it. It gave everyone one last time to be together as a group and time to revel about the night before's activities. We did ours at 11 a.m. so no one had to rush to get there : )

That sounds fun--I wish ours was going to be in the summer, because I love the thought of something outdoorsy and fun, but I didn't want to wait too long after our wedding to do it. I'm just struggling with the thought, I guess of it needing to be too much like a wedding--because we're 100% happy with our wedding in Mexico and I just want this to be like a party....but, my mom and I are having a difference of opinion here....surprise ; ) So, are you doing first dances, and announcements? How about seating arrangements--anything special to keep the wedding party together? Thanks for the help : )

AHR question...
hls140 replied to hls140's topic in Destination Weddings in Puerto Vallarta & surrounding areas
THanks for the suggestion to post in the other spot--just did, so I'm sure I'll get some more helpful info. Carly, thank you for the info on yours--your AHR sounds like it is going to be sooo nice!!! Unfortunately, I spent too much of our money (2/3 of the budget) on the Mexico wedding, because I was planning on having a low-key AHR.....but, my mom had some different ideas in mind... I was planning on wearing my dress for at least part of the time, but perhaps I'll just wear it the whole time--save me some time with looking for a different one... Thanks for all your input and have a great time in Jamaica and at your AHR!! -
Hi ladies, I just asked this over in one of the other sections and was directed here--would love to hear your opinions! We're planning for our AHR now and its coming up in Feb. and well, my mom is driving me crazy with questions and details, and so I'm looking for some info on what others have done to either answer her questions or calm her down... can someone point me in the right direction, or....give me details on how yours was--like-- Did you wear your dress the entire time/at all, etc? Did you have your wedding party dress a certain way, sit in a special place (like all together) Did you do any of the first dances (again) Did anyone make any toasts, or read any passages, etc.? Did you have a DJ, photographer, anything else? I was kind of thinking that it would just be a dinner for everyone with music and fun, but I'm finding out that my mom thinks it should be just as nice as our actual wedding....and she's really putting on the pressure. I'll appreciate any info and feedback that you can provide!!! Seriously, I'd love to hear the details from yours or what you are planning. Thanks!

AHR question...

Hi ladies, I'm not sure where to ask this, but since you've been so helpful in the past, I'll bring it here and you can redirect if needed! Is there a separate section on here to discuss the At Home Reception (AHR, or a reception that you have once you return for everyone who couldnt' make it). We're planning for ours now and its coming up in Feb. and well, my mom is driving me crazy with questions and details, and so I'm looking for some info on what others have done to either answer her questions or calm her down... can someone point me in the right direction, or....give me details on how yours was--like-- Did you wear your dress the entire time/at all, etc? Did you have your wedding party dress a certain way, sit in a special place (like all together) Did you do any of the first dances (again) Did anyone make any toasts, or read any passages, etc.? I was kind of thinking that it would just be a dinner for everyone with music and fun, but I'm finding out that my mom thinks it should be just as nice as our actual wedding....and she's really putting on the pressure. I'll appreciate any info, feedback, redirects to another place on here, that you can provide!!! Thanks! -

Your date is right around the corner, just noticed that! Best wishes for the wedding of your dreams--can't wait to see your photos. I'm sure everyone will have a wonderful time and you'll look beautiful! Safe travels : ) -
Hi there, we got married at the Sheraton Buganvilias in Puerto Vallarta, so it was through the hotel on the hotel property and the reception felt very private, and we had a father daughter dance--even had some fireworks (not planned, but went off in the background for someone else). It was very special and totally possible if you were to choose the sheraton (I loved it there and so did our guests) or a similar site where the hotel coordinator could provide details on the site, privacy, etc.

Post wedding brunch in PV?
hls140 replied to bethtamar's topic in Destination Weddings in Puerto Vallarta & surrounding areas
We had a thank you brunch at Mi Querencia restaurant right across from the main portion of the malecon. The food was excellent (many guests went back for dinner) and the view was beautiful (my brother in law commented that it was the best view he had ever had while eating) : ) and, best of all, the prices were amazing!! Almost all of the breakfast and brunch prices are $55 pesos per person, plus drinks. Seriously, it is such a great pick. If you need additional info, let me know and I'll go digging. I even have some photos if you'd like to see a glimpse..... -
Meals for vendors????
hls140 replied to alrager's topic in Destination Weddings in Puerto Vallarta & surrounding areas
I asked up front for their (photographer and WC--we didn't have a DJ and used our ipod) meal selections and provided non-alcoholic drinks. About the hotel WC, we counted her in, but she kindly refused and said she could just eat for free from the kitchen, so perhaps offer and see what they say?
