I can't blame him though since he is from the area! However, he said he has always wanted to get married in the cenotes! You know, the underwater caves? At first I was pretty taken aback, but after seeing some of the pictures online it seems like a cool idea!! I saw Del Sol did a wedding there with some great photos, but I have found NOTHING online as to how to make this happen, or even where to have reception..blah, blah.... So anyone have any news or ideas? Even if you had your TTD session maybe you could provide some input...thanks!! Glad u liked... There is no "how to" book on this amiga... we scripted our own cosmic ceremony for the first we have ever done. This kind of thing hasn't been done before by others (at least not that we know and for sure, not published). We basically created the package, arranged all the details, made arrangements to RENT THE PROPERTY (this one is big, u just can't walk into a place like this and throw down with a ceremony) etc..The logistics involved are very very difficult and guests counts need to be very low. Not that this is a proprietary thing for del Sol because anybody can do anything they wish.... we just have experience in doing things that really challenge the ordinary and the cenote wedding HIT THE SPOT! My guess, nobody here will chime in "oh, here is my cenote wedding" because its just not being done regularly. In fact, in all of our career, we have only done 3 of them. The 4th is coming up in 1 week! Check out this cenote wedding:04.07.10 Matt + Alissa | Cenote Wedding + TTD | Photos by Matt Adcock + Sol Tamargo Followed by them doing a TTD just after the ceremony...a trip to the beach too with some ruins... Good luck. If you want to learn more, send an email to our studio manager Melissa info @ delsolphotography.com cheers, matt

bummer, we really liked that place. well, positive thing is...better to have your wedding far away from a "clothing optional" place..., if that kind of thing doesnt jive well with the moms and pops... I am confident that things happen for a reason and thanks to this awesome resource, BDWF will help you. I *MIGHT* recommend you hire a planner too, just to take some stress off. Good luck with everything.... mateo

Just wedding outfit required... its a physiological thing that I'm trying to work out..we get in a zone when we are shooting a the wedding couple, so we want this to be "as real feeling" as possible. The Gazebo Thread

It's obvious you put a lot of effort in your article(s) and swifting through your archives for examples... it's almost like we had our very own powerpoint presentation on forum spread Everyone is picking up a camera and traveling to do destination weddings with absolutely NO experience as a traveler, no legal visa, hardly enough backup equipment, NO insurance, No knowledge of the locations... wow, this rant could go on forever. I could write another book on Gazebos, just have no time to do it good luck planning mateo -

I fell in love with del Sol's work but they are definitely out of our price range after getting a quote.. I think you've probably posted before, but who are you all using? I remember Becks naming someone a while back. Has anyone else booked yet? At first I was thinking, wow, why spend the money to bring your own, but it's starting to seem more and more worth it. Assuming you pay for 3 nights stay and flights, that's only about $1000 for travel. I guess it would depend what they would charge for the weekend... I'm sorry we didnt fit your budget... What I can recommend to you is to keep the photography choice to someone who is in Mexico. There are SO many options at all different price points and you likely don't have to pay for travel! Key is, I use to live in Atlanta. I traveled everywhere to shoot. Travel is hard, taxing and expensive. We traveled in pairs of 2, so it would cost me about $2k to get to the riviera maya, 2-3 nights in an all inclusive hotel, plus transfers, etc... why not invest that into your photo package? Good luck with your efforts and sorry again we didnt fit the budget.. saludos, mateo

a few more of my favs.. I love the colors here, just as you guys were coming to the reception area.. Now, this was the first time I'd been to Aventura... LOVE the terrace location for small weddings. the view, uhh- mmmaa - zzzzinnng. This was your Lady Gaga kiss... in the background the song "Bad Romance" was playing... I'm totally addicted to Lady Gaga and her video.... so this was our Lady GAGA tribute shot Just an overview of what a few tables look like with guests.. this is a timed exposure, so lots of movement is shown here... Did I mention the view here just SUCKS... Who wants to stare at this? HA< jk.. love love love love this terrace for receptions! Finish off with some awesomesauce...big MOON (LA LUNA) in the background with the sky at dusk, sexy! Thanks for the chance to shoot here amiga, saludos, mateo

From the very start of the whole process Del Sol was a pleasure to work with. Melissa in the Del Sol office was fantastic she answered all of my questions to the tee and in a timely manner. And trust me I had maannnyyy questions! I made sure to put Matt & Rodrigo from Del Sol on my guest list and I purchased day passes for them ahead of time to avoid any problems with them getting in. Everything went smoothly. Matt & Rodrigo worked their butts off to get the best shots that day. They were like stealth ninjas, moving quickly to get the shots and half the time I didn't even notice them. My guests did comment on how amazing it was that they were willing to get down and dirty in the HOT heat to make sure they captured the moment. Matt & Rodrigo were awesome and made my husband and I feel really comfortable. I received my wedding slideshow in less than a month of getting married. And I can't wait to see all the rest of my pictures when my DVD arrives. I highly recommend Del Sol Photography they rocked my socks off! I plan on using them again, hmmm maybe 1 year underwater wedding anniversary photos?!?! Amiga, thank you so much for the kind words... We love our job and I was SO stoked to hear you talk about BDWF and that you had done EVERYTHING online and with the help of BDWF and other girls here. This place is an ultimate testimonial and we thank YOU! I wanted to post a few of my favs... a few of these, you havent seen yet. I love this one, dress hanging and the ocean is just calling my name. Are we blessed to have such awesome color here in our beautiful Riviera Maya? This one was a fun shot to take, I ran over to the carriage and shot the driver...layered in the background is Jackie and her dad! The silhouette wedding moment, awesome backdrop with awesome BLUE Caribbean. a shot that you havent seen yet, just a little creative framing Speechless, no words for the beautiful sunset. This one just sorta happened when we were walking over to another location where the light was just perfect... This one, you havent seen yet. There were 3 or 4 from this set that i just loved.... HIGH FASHION! wow. LOVE it! A little quick ring shot with sunset in background... more shots coming..

A few more from the reception setup.. These are great visuals of how things could be. here we walk you through their reception setup... Notice the globe details in the background... nice touch. Perhaps hanging a TAD low... Table setup looking back at Palapa of Seaside Grill A table setup...Obviously, its night time and the ocean would be in the background from this angle looking out of the Seaside Grill (pool foreground is nice layering touch for photos) This lounge setup is on the side of the reception area, kinda packed in. Luckily their group was kinda small, less than 25 people I think so this worked well! Dance floor setup.. I think each one of those tiles is 4x4 or 5x5, cant remember. Total space of 10x10ish, lets say. Again, i think the globes were hanging a tad too low, for the tall people they were bumping heads with them a little. Another scene setter back across the resort, just for a piece of mind to know what the night views look like ok, hope that helps with your visualization. More images from Matt & Margaret's TTD here SALUDOS, mateo

I hadn't so I thought that I would share them here also just in case I wasn't the only one. I know we all love being able to see new pics that give us a fresh perspective of what the weddings are actually like since many of us haven't had the opportunity to do a site visit. Looks like she had an amazing day and the shots that he took were beautiful! 05.15.10 Margaret + Matthew | Wedding at Dreams Riviera Cancun | Photos by Matt Adcock Melissa I wanted to post a few "scene setter" shots that help get a visual idea of what DRC looks like, especially through a del Sol Camera... The rooms are separated with a section of wooden louvers, panels that can be opened or shut. This provides a nice balance of foreground / background for getting ready shots! This is a completely CANDID moment. It just so happens that Margaret was looking at her flowers and the moment presented itself. The rooms have curtains draped over the beds, which gave us PERFECT shooting conditions, foreground to background... The main lobby positions itself perfectly for a silhouette backdrop, here the guys are waiting for the time to lead the guests to the wedding site, a short 2 minute walk away... This scene setter shows the setting sun against the forground of the Plapa thingie they use for ceremonies... DUSK Light...is so so so important for moody photographs. We usually encourage weddings to start around 1 hour to the scheduled sunset. Read more about del Sol Ceremony start times on our seasonal guide page... Cocktail hour, not sure the name of this spot but its right next to the beach, awesome!!! Cocktail hour decorated with a Pinata theme... Again, dusk light is SO crucial for this kind of look. This is one of my most favorite shots of the couple (matt and margaret).... WOW, shot right next to the cocktail hour setup on the beach. Beautiful light. I actually shot this on a tripod...wowser. La LUNA---love the moon in the background I'll post a few more in a new post since my limit is 10 or something like that...

The UW cave we took you guys to is a very very very technically challenging place to go. Its one of my favorite places of all time! I'm so glad you were able to do it with us. I LOVE these adventures and feel lucky to be able to take our clients to see these amazing places of wonder! Ok, here are a few of my personal favs... Can you say (we have finally made it to Never - Never Land).... love this one! This image technique is one that del Sol created using flare from reflected or direct light.... to me, its very very dreamy... SOL shot this one, love the half in and half out technique here! We were not alone...lots of little fishies..> Oh, they actually nibble at the dead skin on your toes THE WHOLE TIME.
