The Gazebo Thread
Matt Adcock replied to AngieEH's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
Just wanted to add, Sol posted this about the JW Marriott Gazebo... good advice here. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/3921/jw-marriott-wedding-slideshow-and-sol-tamargo-photographer-tips -
Its channel 235 (Direct TV guide here) I talked to Trish yesterday, she said that we are featured in the show. Sol is seen shooting the wedding and there is a good shot of me at the end doing the TTD. She also mentions our studio name as well. She said the highlight is our Underwater HD video of the TTD as well as the TTD shots... Awesome! MUST WATCH. PS. There is something cooking in the kitchen of the "del Sol TV" land.... update coming one of these days...

Amazing Fun Experience only scratches the surface of what these kind of ceremonies can offer Glad u like...good luck talking to the FI about this. If you need help, send him our way, we are happy to give him some motivational advice...we are pretty good at that. Saludos! matt -
I wanted to post details from our honeymoon amigos... We went in August, 2008.... I wrote all this info and just never posted it. SO, if you want to follow along with our amazing adventure, watch the videos and read about the locations we visited. FOR a photo slideshow, check this out: Here are a few photos http://delsolphotography.com/blog/content/galleries/?gal=46 Ok, here is my take on Costa Rica. We traveled there in the first few weeks of August, considered HIGH SEASON FOR RAIN. First, we made video documentary of our entire experience, so you can follow along with how amazing what we saw was all about We were there for 16 days and covered quite a bit of the country, but there are TONS of places we didnt get to visit, but those that we did get to see...totally awesome. We flew Delta one way from Atlanta GA to San Jose. We stayed one night there before the adventure began. There is a small airport where we puddle jumped on a 30 or 45 minute flight south to the Osa Peninsula. We stayed here for 4 nights and extended our stay for 2 more nights, being blown away by a place that National Geographic labels "one of the most biological diverse / intense locations on the planet" We went on both tours to the Corcovado park.... The video documents ALL of it. Mind blowing WOW! http://www.aguiladeosainn.com/tours/corcovado/index.html We also went to Cano Island: http://www.aguiladeosainn.com/tours/cano_island/index.html We enjoyed the island for a quick lunch, and feeding the millions of hermit crabs... we snorkeled for a short time, sol got stung by jelly fish...so we got on the boat and did LOTS AND LOTS of whale watching....awesome. not sure about the seasons for whales, they were mating in August when were there. We also did the canopy tour at http://www.aguiladeosainn.com/tours/canopy/index.html. This was ok...the canopy tour is over 2 parts of the forest. The primary (old jungle) and the secondary (jungle thats been replanted... This tour was okish....just something fun to do in one afternoon. We also kyaked up a little river near the INN... saw alligators, lots of wildlife, and other amazing sites. The LOUD LOUD howler monkies will BLOW your mind, just unbelievable. My video shows all the wildlife we saw just everywhere... mindblowing wowser! Here is our video from Corcovado: For the 2nd part of our trip, we took the boat up the River Sierpe (serpent) on the way out of corcovado (there are 2 ways in and out, explained in this link) http://www.aguiladeosainn.com/directions/index.html We went back to San Jose and stayed there for another night where we met up with a photographer friend of ours for an afternoon. Then, the next day, found a taxi / private transportation to take us from San Jose to Arenal (the town of La Fortuna). Arenal is the super active Volcano in Costa Rica. The private taxi was about 3-5 hours but we stopped in La Paz waterfall gardens along the way. I think we paid $150-200ish for this taxi. It was a passenger van type bus that could have had 5 or 6 people, but we were the only 2 in the van. This was SUPER nice to be chauffeured. LOVED the LaPaz water gardens. We spent about 2 hours at the gardens...this place is friggen WOW... My video shows it all. Its like an animal sanctuary because they have lots of rescued animals there, and a major butterfly terrarium as well as an awesome path with MAJOR huge waterfalls. I was super nervous about our camera gear, computers, and other stuff left in the car...but it was all safe while we made our 1-2 hour visit tour of the gardens. Then we took off for the rest of the drive to the town of La Fortuna. Sol doesnt want to recommend the hotel we stayed at in LaFortuna....so your own your own if you want to go there. She somehow remembers this place, so its her recommendation: http://www.arenallodge.com/navegadores/rooms.html The tours we did there were all arranged through http://www.desafiocostarica.com/ We did the Rio Celeste, highlighted in our video... Well, I think seeing that is worth a million words...just unbelievable. The tour is hardly requested by tourists because the ride is 1.5 hrs away, but the scenery there is SO worth going. We lucked out and had a personal driver and 2 guides. One who even narrated on our video around the "Arbol de la Paz" (tree of peace). The 2nd guide was a training guide...They spoke english. We also took the Lost Canyon repelling tour which was friggen WOW!: http://www.desafiocostarica.com/index.php?lang=en&opt=tour&id=21&cat=f#top2 Watch this video of Arenal and Rio Celeste: We left Arenal on this transfer: http://www.desafiocostarica.com/index.php?lang=en&opt=transportation&id=10&cat=f#top2 YOu can see the lake in my video plus the busted dirt road with the man on the wagon, pigs on the road...totally beautiful scenery. The taxi took us to Monteverde. We recommend BOTH zip line tours in Monteverde...also the cloud forest reserve: http://www.monteverdeinfo.com/monteverde.htm We stayed at http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g951347-d1010604-Reviews-Mariposa_Bed_Breakfast-Monteverde_Province_of_Puntarenas.html. We got the suite seen in the photo on trip advisor. We left the rain forest and headed to the north west coast and went to Flamingo Beach and Tamarindo Costa Rica. We really planned going here to leave out of the regional airport Libera. We had no plans here and drove around until we found a place to stay.... we experienced LOTS of rain on our trip, just about the entire trip....Mostly in the afternoon though. When we got the the LIbera area, this was the only place we rented a car. I probably enjoyed this part of our trip the least...although the sailboat charter we setup was pretty fun Video seen here: Enjoy

Thoughts on Circle Seating? *with a pic*
Matt Adcock replied to yamille's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I wanted to provide a more visual example of the circle setup. This photo came from Paul and Rachel's wedding in Tulum. The orange fabric represents a chuppah. Guests play musical insturments and are really a big part of the ceremony. Here the groom waits inside the circle for the bride (Rachel), escorted by her mother. There are people very close to her, just opening up a gap for the two of them to walk through. Wide angle shot, showing the blessing of one of the 4 cardinal directions. Guests standing observing. Here is Tal and Terence at Maroma Spa and resort... Without guests. The circle is clearly outlined with maracas. Each guests is encouraged to make noise and celebrate when the couple goes to each of the 4 cardinal directions. Guests arriving, maracas line the circle. Vertical shot... before the Bride and Groom arrive. Tal and Terence entering. To the left, you can see the bride about to enter the circle. The two people facing the opposite way were her mom and dad. They turn and greeted them when they first arrived in the circle. Guests celebrate, couple is blessed with smoke from Copal. More guests celebrating as they enter the circle and do a lap around the entire circle... Awesome photo moments! totally awesome expressions from the guests as they complete the circle. Thats actually Fred Savage from the Wonder Years in the sunglasses celebrating Tal and Terence's big lap around the circle. First kiss, blessed with water from best man and made of honor...standing guests look on. Terence's mom stands front and center with big emotion.... Ok, hope that helps visualize standing More Tal and Terence stuff here: http://delsolphotography.com/blog/content/galleries/?gal=298 -

HOLA... Yep, sure thing. They entered the circle and the guests just let them pass...almost magical. (watch the slideshow if you have a second... http://delsolphotography.com/blog/content/galleries/?gal=298 The Cosmic ceremony focuses on the outer circle as a power circle of energy. Its one of the most amazing wedding experiences I have ever had. I've seen 500+ weddings personally in my life... I've been to 5 or so Cosmic Ceremonies and the amount of energy involved is mindblowing... Here is another one we did in Tulum on the public beach... Same Cosmic Shamans.. http://www.delsolphotography.com/weddings/paul&rachel/ -

Wanted to add the shot with all those folks, for a visual aid. Usually, Cosmic ceremonies and Mayan Ceremonies will have this kind of setup. I really really really DIG the cosmic circle setup... I know the original post said "sitting"... Standing in a circle is fun too! -
Thanks yall The shoot was fun but let me tell you, dealing with Lawyers and TV networks and all that who-ha-bla bla.... not so much fun. I think we will stick to shooting snaps I wonder if any of you actually watch Clean House? We appreciate the comments. If anybody happens to catch the show, chime in and let us know how it goes! Cheers! mateo PS Check out more images here Del Sol Photography Blog - Trish Suhr + Dave McCoul | Trash the dress | Photos by del Sol photography

The ceremony is REAL... paper is just paper... make it what you want to make it and be sure to get good photos to remember it by... We did the SAME EXACT THING. To me, our ceremony was amazing. KEWL Wedding... I wanted to chime in and add a few of my favorites. Well, Ceiba is just eye candy. I love the layout of this resort. I love love love the balconies on the master suites, just a "master wow" of a view. Thank you so much Lori for the awesome testimonial! I wanted to post a few of my favorites and I'm sure there are a few you havent seen yet... Sol and I have different tastes sometimes.. I don't believe you have seen this bouquet shot, I just liked the vertical orientation... Here is a of the amazing balcony from the master suite, with the plunge pool... wow! Gazebo Ceremony setup at Ceiba... A wonderful (my favorite) ceremony candid of two people who are obviously very in love!!! Ok, maybe this one is (MY FAV FAV) candid expressions a subtle moment that we captured...love love love this one! First kiss with guests looking on, sometimes I prefer this angle, to see the reactions of your loved ones (everybody has a camera these days The pier at Ceiba just offers WAY WAY more dynamic shooting options. Wow, this sky is so so sweet! We are almost always able to shoot the sunset from the Pier here... awesome shot. I don't think sol shared this one in the slideshow... i really dig the sun peeking through! a few more in another post...

Call it "Beach Casual" BUT, we see white shirts, linens, and very light colors or off whites are LOTS AND LOTS of weddings. I can promise you one thing, I will not ever attend a beach wedding without white. If you put your guests in the sun, what do you expect them to do, fry? Anything reflective just jives...afterall, beach weddings are not conventional and far away from the church or formal ballroom, so live a little, let your skin breath a little and whiten things up Tal and Terence's wedding was one of my all time favs... I love many of my gigs, they just had some seriously jamming energy! Here is a blog post from their wedding where I featured a few of my favs and some photo commentary.
