Thoughts on Circle Seating? *with a pic*
Matt Adcock replied to yamille's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I JUMP FOR JOY each and every time we have the chance to shoot one. Specifically, Cosmic Ceremonies or Mayan Ceremonies showcase this style of seating. Every guest can participate, makes for amazing backgrounds and simply, awesome photography with this kind of setup. Guests just HAVE fun at these weddings, I've never seen bigger smiles. big reactions everybody throws flowers as they first kiss... or bubbles, or blessed water droplets from doused by flowers... just unreal the emotional reactions and feeling that everybody has.. Offerings are an awesome part of the ceremony involvement. These cosmic ceremonies ask a permission from the 4 cardinal directions, North, South, East and West... ending with an offering of seeds and fruits to the ocean.. they are throwing apples and mangos at me, seriously thats the splashing you see here...big fun! hope you can choose a circular guest arrangement. Maria & Charlie are our HIGHLY Recommended Shamans! Ask your coordinator today, I think they charge $500 or $600 USD, depending on the location. -

just wanted to post another circular seating event we did at Al Cielo... http://delsolphotography.com/blog/content/galleries/?gal=403 and here is one from Ana y Jose Beach Club in Tulum, although they were seated normally at one point, then standing, then circular, all over the place with lots of movement and very very dramatic imagery from this cosmic / maya ceremony. We will pretty much advise all of our clients (unless for religious or cultural reasons) to avoid MID DAY weddings. Primary reason is its hot, really really hot, and secondarily its just the worst time of day for lighting people, harsh direct down highlights and shadows make for tough photo conditions. Plus, we charge per hour and bill hours consecutively so I'm not sure it would work out for most budgets NOR us because we will have to be in the hotel from 10am until 8 or 9pm shooting, we live 1.5 hours away driving to PDC.... That makes about a 12 or 13 hr day) Got a little about our thoughts on planning the perfect ceremony start time: http://delsolphotography.com/blog/index.php/seasonalguide.flo For sure, contact us if you would like our best advice... we know how to "see light" beyond belief and advise all of our clients who invest in our services about what would make their photo day look amazing based on a timeline. info @ delsolphotography.com is our email (obviously with no spaces.)

I wanted to finish by talking about the fact that it rained on us unexpectedly, just for a few minutes. These were fleeting seconds, but somehow we were able to make a few art snaps.. I really love this one... its running in action to get out of the madness, yet so fun Rain = Rain portrait... with the rain, everybody moved under the covered dance floor area which gave way for amazing toast and speeches... thanks amigos... I hope these photos help provide a visual!

I really enjoyed this reception location, first time shooting here. The height around the perimeter as well as the moat of water makes this place happen, along with lighting from the DJ. I'm pretty sure the DJ provided these towers covered with fabric, with LED lights on them... The draped fabric really worked... although I'm pretty sure one day these drapes will catch on fire Perhaps the DJ / fire guy could be hiding some more behind the white curtain Here is one with out the DJ guys Here is another view from above, the water makes it for me. Reception Ambiance detail. 30 second exposure too, see the clouds flying in the background? I really put this one in here to showcase layout of the floorplan. 2 second exposure on tripod. Love the reflections w/ this water at the reception site. A+

The amazing Javier Rojas playing guitar. I've worked with him probably 50 - 60 times, he is the real deal and an amazing character. Please give him a huge from del Sol. I'd say you got some serious SKY here! The mariachi's add an entire new layer of atmosphere here, I'd say a star choice for any wedding in this country. It never ever ever gets old for me! A few hand snacks from EPM. YUM. table setup Kinda just off the beach, candles have a greater chance of burning. Blue water + Warm glow. nice.

Gracias Amiga! Your family is amazing and is honestly one of the most inspirational things for me on your wedding day...nice people rock! It was our pleasure... I figured I would add a few of my favs because I really love how your setup showcases certain areas of the hotel, specifically pleasing to work at from a photographers perspective. This day had lots of sunshine and beautiful colors. It also had some clouds and some beautiful sunrays! Love the details at EPM The "SUN" decorations in the rooms really work for me, I mean I personally can not get enough of my SOL Deck chilling w/ the fam before the big I DO... view is wow. WOW views. I'd like to go on the record and officially say that the sunset light on the beach IS AMAZING and A del Sol PREFERRED site location vs EPM Gazebo. I've personally covered 3 weddings in their gazebos. Sol has had one as well as Vincent as well as Juan. All agree, its a confined space that has restrictions. its very pretty, but when you include the videographer and 2 photographers, its very possible that someone is standing in front the parents like the videographer was at one of my past events... If you have the choice and can handle sand, the beach is the way to roll, no doubt. Specifically, there is a water moat that wraps around the entire perimeter which totally constricts and or eliminates traffic into or out (unless you walk the isle) and that makes photography difficult. The guests are also seated with their backs to the ocean in this gazebo watching a ceremony. This one of the water surrounded gazebo from Abbye + Paul's Wedding on 7.17.10 IF your wedding group is less than 10 people, its not so bad... Please don't read into this that its impossible to make amazing photos in the Gazebo, as clearly you can see from watching the above slideshow its totally possible... we just have to be more intrusive i feel. SUN is shining I love this one, so mysterious and yet so simple. Beautiful bride! Perfect day on the beach! I wanted to include a closeup of the flowers...they seemed perfect. a few more images in another post....

I had to do a few back flips within their organization and asked for this to be better taken care of and within minutes, I had several emails from Palace apologizing for any problems. I think with most LARGE organizations, its a little bit about communication and sometimes there are breakdowns. What is a FACT on this planet is that we have reached out and made a union with these people and they are doing whatever they can to help us help our clients (or at least their emails say that) so over this spring, we shall see if they "show us the money" and keep the process going smoothly. Smooth Smooth Smooth planning, sounds awesome eh? We hope so! COOLIO< See U Nov & amiga!

did you see her boudior? http://delsolphotography.com/blog/post-949/Underwater-Boudoir-cenote-sexy-photos Sol Tamargo is a serious innovator in this industry. Boudior / Pinup style photography has been around a LONG time, and the last 5 years has really really taken off for lots of wedding professionals around the world. Many use nice hotel rooms and comfy accommodations in a studio or even in the clients home. Taking these kind of photos in the water and under the water is just insane. First, its 68 degrees year round and in many of these shoot locations, we are working in full shade IN a cave, but next to an opening. Its freezing after 10 minutes and most of these shoots are hours in and out and around and in and under.... wowser.

Seriously, this is an inside job because I have authorization by the directory of all palace hotels that our company is an authorized Vendor. Does that mean that they can say and or do anything they want to inside the hotel on your wedding day???? Sounds like this is a communication problem within Palace. We send them all of our clients contract numbers.. Here is our approach: Dear Matt, Thank you so much returning to the office to a flooded inbox. I sincerely apologize for my delayed response. There is an outside vendor fee that applies should a wedding couple hire a local photographer from Mexico, it isn’t a problem for your services to be contracted. We handle every case on a case by case basis when it comes to vendors. The following reasons are why we must contractually protect ourselves and why we include those clauses in our contracts. -First, couples in the past have hired outside vendors and when the vendor does not hold their part or the couple isn’t satisfied with their work we are brought into the legal dispute -Second, we’ve had previous cases where the company who is providing the services has not obtained the correct business documentation nor fulfilled hacienda regulations and Palace has been brought into question for not screening outside vendors properly. -Third, Palace Resorts is an all-inclusive property bounded by strict regulations every member of the team must purchase a day pass once the resort has screened the vendor. We already have a reputable relationship with you so it would be no problem to have you become one of the approved outside vendors. We are definitely willing to work with you and wanted to provide you with some reasoning as to why we have those clauses. If you can provide us with the names of the couples I can give the resort the green light to allow the exceptions without a problem. Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions or concerns. Kindest Regards, CAROLINA LOPEZ Corporate Director of Weddings & Honeymoons @palaceresorts.com Tel: 800.635.1836 ext Direct: 305.416.6554 Fax: 305.421.1608 www.palaceresorts.com www.leblancsparesort.com Seriously??? We have authorization. Matt

Sara is a cool gal... I agree though, she should be charging a deposit and or have a contract so you gal's can have a piece of mind when you do commission her. She recently did makeup for this bride....plus her gals. http://delsolphotography.com/blog/content/galleries/?gal=382

I just wanted to give a little advice here.. One word of caution when addding COLOR to your Chuppah's.... Usually, the color will act like a filter to the sun, and suddenly bride + groom become PINK, or GREEN or even BLUE. So, in your photos, your skin actually becomes those colors. Sound Crazy? Its very real, I'd say Pink has to be the biggest problem, just avoid too much color as it will damage your photos with skin tones that are just the same color! I'll try to find some photo examples... good luck
