If they really want Sandals / flip flops, its probably going to work out perfectly... I have noticed a lot of weddings with pretty formal / nice looking clothing and when it gets to the shoes + beachwear for weddings, every rule on the planet gets broken.. We actually have fun with breaking rules... Seen lots of white / natural color sandals here, let em run with it Good luck! -
Trash the Dress....yes or no???
Matt Adcock replied to sojahseh81's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
WE VOTE YES! Trash the dress is amazing... We have a few images posted on this link, probably thousands actually http://delsolphotography.com/blog/index.php/category/5/Trash-The-Dress Here are a few underwater shots to bend your imagination a little and I really LOVE this one: hope you love... more on the blog -
Here are a few more of my personal favs of the portraits and setup.. I LOVE THIS candid shot of you two exiting the ceremony.. LOVE this creative reflection / movement shot, super unique! These globes together makes a nice line of light and background for our compositions. Background lighting, very moody and sexy. A little lighting love from our team! GREAT detail to finish... more from the slideshow here: http://lalunaphotographers.com/blog/gallery/melissa/weddings/courtney-justin/ Thanks again for trusting our vision Amiga!

La Luna just ended up shooting TONS of weddings, way too much work for the team to handle actually, the demand was so high that we raised the price some... Thank you SO Much for citing that there was a HUGE DIFFERENCE between La Luna and what the resort studio was doing. Most of that comes in many different layers, from Melissa's customer service all the way to the editors and the time put into post production making these snaps blazingly amazing. Love the reflection shot of the dress! you have a LUCKY MAN! So simple and so beautiful at the same time, DT ceremony site is AWESOME. can you say PRIVATE. QUE GUAPO, you man dresses so well! Love this suit. I love that your bridesmaids walked the isle with the sun setting, so beautiful! Nice snap. Love the DT coordination staff Anabel Sanchez rocking the house setting the final details.

Here are a few more photos of guys I really love this idea, a personalized hanky with it as part of the outfit NICE personalized touch. LOVE The blue / white penstripe w/ pink accents and ties. This one is actually Chelsea's husband, Eric. Chelsea is a BDWF vendor specializing in barefoot jewelry. I love these shirts, very very easy to wear, lightweight and comfortable. Can you say PATTERNS???? This groom's shirt matched the bridesmaids dresses closely with a nice green contrast on the groomsmen. More shoes coming soon... i like these kicks though! DARK outfits, contrast with the groom wearing white... Its pretty hot in the Riviera Maya, black is a hot hot color ) -

I wanted to post some informal / guests / guys just being GUYS at weddings, with a little emphasis on what they are wearing... hope this helps with some VISUAL examples on beach wear for men on the BIG DAY. A few key points*** 1. Love the HAT as the additional accessory! Keeps the harsh sun out of the eyes and makes for fun photos... guys love to RELAX, roll up pants, take shoes OFF and enjoy a cerveza! 2. Guys like pockets too, always in need of a handy place to store a cold one. 3. For most recent "What guys wear" be sure to just check out the blog where we put lots of recent updates How hard is it to IRON? Can they even do it? Remember this while packing and or choosing cloths. I love the VEST addition for the groom, UN-TUCKED works so well too for the groomsmen as a transition away from the slightly more formal groom look here, hats a BONUS. Flowers, they are ALWAYS given to men and somehow, they end up by themselves (or helping each others) attaching their flower. Our recommendation is to only have a flower if it will go on a jacket lapel, otherwise the boutineer won't hold its form so well on the bare shirt try... Here is another thing to remember, Jackets look SO nice, but they guys SWEAT wearing them.... This is a candid shot as the bride arrives at the isle, but you can see one of his guys is taking batch and using a towel to wipe his sweat. Basically its always hot here, 75+ usually, sometimes being in the shade is nicer and sometimes next to the ocean breeze is amazing.... guys always take jackets off at the reception. A nice embroidered hanky towel gift for them might be a cool idea Big contrast here, guys wearing light and un-tucked and groom in Navy darker colors... King of kings, ok... I like these accessories and the RED tie rocks on the off white suit. With the Crown and Robe, ummm... BIG PERSONALITY. This one is nice for a color contrast... darker tie, white shirt. Great look after peeling off the jacket.... remember the rolled up look for the pants if your going to take a stroll, get splashed by a wave, wife, whatever a few more coming soon -
Blog post here: http://www.delsolphotography.com/blog/post-976/Lisa-Reed-Ana-y-Jose-Tulum-Photos-by-Matt-Adcock Some Ana Y Jose Reception magic from del Sol Photography: This is a potential setup for the primary guest entrance...simple design and great execution! Nice table detail setup from head table (ocean is behind us) looking at the reception setup for 90+ guests I love this last photo, its a special shot I took on my tripod, 108 second time exposure.... wow! Imagine this one 40x60 on your wall?

I wanted to post a few more photographs of inspiration for TULUM... really, we love it! The vibe of tulum is something one must actually FEEL in person before being able to truly understand or visualize it virtually. Ana Y Jose event posted on the del Sol blog: http://www.delsolphotography.com/blog/post-976/Lisa-Reed-Ana-y-Jose-Tulum-Photos-by-Matt-Adcock I must admit that having a mayan or cosmic ceremony RULES, just so many more moments, people interacting, laughs, and PURE FUN.... Take a risk on this one Just a little kiss of light for their recessional exit...their kiss is pretty HOT too I'll post a few more of the reception setup in a new post More on the blog.

Here is where 2 photographers who have seen HUNDREDS of resorts stay when we take vacations from our life in paradise: http://delsolphotography.com/blog/post-485/Hotel-Esencia-ultimate-indulgence Sounds crazy, but we live in playa del carmen and sometimes, we just need to experience private private beaches, hotel Esencia and Xpu-Ha beach is unreal. Corona actually rents the hotel for photo shoots and filming commercials. here are more photos and a video montage: Or next door to Esencia, and totally different in terms of a feel, is Al Cielo. http://delsolphotography.com/blog/post-221/Al-Cielo-Hotel-vimeo-video-HD You may want to think about Tulum too, there is along long list of amazing places Good luck, matt

not rude, its just not what we want to see... we create from the inside, recreating anything for a photojournalist who shoots off the cuff is not going to help us... We once had a bride who made a book of images she liked, but she never once showed us them, until the shoot day. As she said, these aren't for my photographer to "mimic or copy" the shots, for HER to figure out how to pose. But seriously, handing over a list of shots or exact photo examples for me to replicate is NOT my idea of "help". I want to be free and shoot from my heart, I'm happy to do variations on a theme, but I don't want to be cliche just because the world has cliche ideas. your mileage may vary... good luck! matt

Hola Ginny, This original idea for a wiki is actually contains more slideshows and links to all the resorts in this region, as well as links back to many of them who wrote reviews here on BDWF. We think this resource ROCKS, hopefully you do too. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/wiki/del-sol-photography-slideshows-riviera-maya welcome to mexico!

Thanks everybody for the kind words, really its touching to hear this. One thing is for sure, we must try to work LESS in the future because we are shooting so so much right now. The numbers are unbelievable actually, so this challenge of being unique is tough... mostly, its the family emotion and little surprises that appear out of nowhere . thanks for noticing a few more of my favorites here: http://www.delsolphotography.com/blog/post-963/Amber-Stefan-Al-Cielo-Photos-by-Matt-Adcock

NEWS FLASH. If you hired a outside photographer at Moon Palace, please dismiss your "with the package" photographer for the wedding day... Its a conflict of interest to have that many photographers on the property and your photos will have backgrounds with wedding photographers from the hotel. We had 5 guests yesterday at Moon Palace. We provide 2 photographers. Moon palace 1 video + 1 photo. Wow, 4 photo / video crew is just overboard. Don't let that happen to you I just love this quote: Thats what I"M TALKING ABOUT... love the optimism. We once shot a wedding where the client used the farmers almanac to choose the driest day of the year.... RAINED hard on their wedding day... I think that was April 17th or somewhere around there. Being a pretty tropical climate, storms come and go and we have had very unpredictable conditions in the Riviera Maya... It just rained for 2 days, prior to that 4 -5 month drought. seriously, no rain at all during that long time mostly all year long. June - November are suppose to be the months with the most rain, who knows. just know u can't control anything. if it rains, enjoy it thorough your photos

Hola Megan! Thanks for posting here and for the kind words WOW! NOT using a travel agent lands one with a killer deal at Le Reve hotel as well as a credit with del Sol or La luna... http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/73510/del-sol-photography-la-luna-photography-hotel-lereve-bdwf-promotion There are LOTS of advantages with using TA's, there is no question. Many TA's on this forum actually specialize in certain areas, this is a HUGE resource... I think it also says quite a bit about Tammy's agency...she runs / owns this forum...she has the deals! In some cases though, you may be better off negotiating terms on your own, depending what kind of deals can be found and all will be different in high and low seasons... Also, some TA's have absolutely NO idea about the location you are getting married in, so think about that... what can they really do? There are TONS of solutions with and without... happy hunting
