  1. Hi SoonToBe, the resort did charge us through the florist for the leaves. I can't remember how much they charged, but I don't think it was very much. They didn't charge us to bring the photo centrepieces, but you should confirm everything you want to bring beforehand with the coordinator, to make sure that they will let you do it. I didn't know that they are enforcing the no outside photographers rule... they almost tried to enforce that with us, but they never mentioned it until after we had already booked everything, so they let us go through with it. Maybe now they state it more clearly on their website.. at the time it wasn't mentioned anywhere... Good luck!
  2. Hi Britt, we got them at a flea-market type store in Chinatown, I think they were like $2-$5 and then we wrapped Raffia around the handle, and attached the little card... hope that helps Patrick
  3. Hey, the Nightlife is pretty good, nowhere near what youd expect in Cancun, or Playa DelCarmen, or even any of the big resorts.. but we also didnt want to have our wedding with a bunch of wasted 17 yr olds running about! We pretty much made the nightlife there.. there were 20 of us, and maybe 12 of us were late 20's early 30's, the rest parents/aunts etc... Everybody there are couples either honeymooning, or there for a quiet time, we had drinking contests, and made quite the scene, Im sure people were like who are THESE people? but it was great, we made friends with couples, and invited them to drinking contests etc. During the first day there we all got so drunk and rowdy they had to ask us to leave the swim up bar, and go to the main pool.. but all kinds of other guests joined us and we were throwing around a football and just being loud.. It was all in good fun though, and like I said, your guests will probably make the scene down there! There was another wedding party there, getting married the day after us, they were maybe 2-3 yrsolder than our crew, but we really didnt see them around that much at night.. dont know why.. good luck! Edit - I finally got through all the pics. It's rare that I watch an entire slideshow all the way through. Beautiful!!! I love the picture candle holder idea - how did you do that? What a great touch. The whole thing looked absolutely magical. Congratulations A lot of people are asking us about the picture frame centre peices... We bought cheap picture frames from IKEA, and primed/painted them white.. (you can probablynbuy white frames, but we bought like 60 frames, so it can get expensive!) Then we hinged them together with fabric tape (make sure you use a good adhessive.. the moisture/heat down there made some of them come unglued). Only use 2 hinges, that way you can pack them flat... we pretty much needed a whole extra carry-on to ship them all down though... down send them through checked luggage, they'd get destoyed! We just printed B&W photos on vellum.. make sure your printer can print on vellum, we had issues getting the right settings, but in the end it worked! good luck!

It was even on sale.. we wanted something linen maybe, but that suit was better! it wasn't too hot or anything
  6. We are posting this to talk about our experience, and to tell anyone who is curious about hiring a photographer in the Mayan Riviera, or Curious about what resort to choose. We were married on April 18,2007, and it was better than we could have ever expected.. We had a wedding party of 23, and we stayed at the El Dorado seaside Suites. We spent a long time researching resorts, and it was a tough choice! We finally settled on the El Dorado Seaside resorts because it is a smaller resort (-200 rooms), it got great reviews, and it was actually a LOT cheaper than any of the other nice ones we researched (Riu, Secrets, Dreams). Let us just say that NO pictures you will find online will do this resort justice! It is VERY beautiful, very quiet, and the staff are amazing. EVERYOBDY says hi to you with a genuine smile on their face. Even gardeners, cooks, security, cleaners etc... You can tell when people are just saying hello to be polite, and this was not the case here.. The staff were so friendly and professional. The food was out of this world! there are 4 a la carte 5 star restaurants, and the food was SO amazing there we don’t even know where to begin! We could not find any photos of any weddings, or any feedback about weddings, so we didn’t really know what to expect. The wedding Co-ordinator, Vanya, was so friendly and accommodating, she made the whole experience stress-free (it was a little stressful before we got there, not having seen the location, where other things are, privacy etc...). There weren’t hundreds of people all walking around gawking at our wedding, and being a couple-oriented, adult resort, it was nice and quiet most of the time. Photographer - when it came to selecting Sol Tamargo, we pretty much made up our mind as soon as we saw her website. We looked at about 5 different Mayan Riviera photographers, and her work blew everyone else away! Here are the photos from our wedding Sol Tamargo Photography Wedding Photojournalism She is a bit more money than some other photographers, but considering that these are photos that we will have and cherish for the rest of our lives, and that her work is so artistic and professional, it wasn’t a tough decision! Considering we also saved about $15,000 minimum by going away, it was an amazing deal. Sol and her assistant Vincent were so amazing, they fired off 400+ shots in 5 hrs, and almost every shot we got was so amazing.. All of our friends and relatives could not believe how amazing her work is! We would strongly recommend both Sol, and the El Dorado Seaside to anyone who wants to get married in the Mayan Riviera! Feel free to email us if you have ANY questions!
