  1. I guess I'm surprised that people are getting so much sh*t for their DWs. Maybe because we only invited 24 people or maybe because we are having a AHR, or maybe because we are "older" (and they are just happy we are finally marrying), we haven't heard anything negative. Everyone is excited about the wedding, the place and about having a vacation. I've never heard of so many people that didn't appreciate a good vacation, what is the world coming to? Now about the AHR, the question of me having a shower, and the idea of us wanting cash for our presents, I am getting grief about those left and right. It makes me happy that I'm not planning a wedding for 150+ people to attend.
  2. This thread makes me so nervous too, just reading all your stories is making my stomach flutter, my throat close and my eyes get teary. I'm getting close now so I think it's all starting to hit me, and I've been very emotional the last week or so. I just hope I don't cry, or I hope I don't cry a lot a little teary eye would be fine. I just don't want to ball. I'll have to remember to try to cry the night before, get it out of my system. then I'll be fine.
  3. Ohh, lovely. We almost picked this place for our honeymoon. We didn't but we are planning to go there sometime for a sailing vacation, and I'm psyched because it's beautiful!
  4. Thanks Shelley those look great, and thanks to everyone else. I'm going to play with my logo to see if I can make the actual logo b/w which Kustom Koozies requires, but I'll also contact them and see if they can work with what I have. You guys, as usual, rock!
  5. Hi all, So those of you who did koozies as part of your OOT bag/gift...where did you order your koozies from and were you able to use a logo you did (or that you got from aylee or some other logo place)? I'd like to order from Kustom Koozies, but I'm not sure I'm going to be able to adjust my aylee logo to meet their art specs. Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!
  6. Check out Thread too, they have tons of styles and fabrics and colors and prices: THREAD - Chiffon Duchess
  7. Just did a quick search on Flickr: Flickr: Search My search for caneel+wedding only turned up photos from one set.
  8. Jason beat me but I would second Vieques, and I would also say check out TripAdvisor.com to get reviews and even candid pics of places, that how we pick almost every hotel we stay in.
  9. Yeah, I'd like to see a pic because I'm picturing a dress with straps or a halter and in my mind if the straps or halter is too long it might make it too low, but that could be taken up. I could be way off base though so if I am just ignore me.
  10. They sometimes do trunk shows at the beginning of a season as well to showcase a designers new dresses, and usually they feature styles/dresses that the store doesn't usually carry. I got my dress at a Ramona Keveza trunk show and was able to get them to basically make me a dress because I picked separates and RK put them together into one dress for me. Hmm, I should probably post a pic of it now that I have some of me in it. Oh, I almost forgot to say that I think a sample sale would be the better price, but then again you have to take into account the wear and tear a sample dress goes through. I did get a discount at the trunk show though, maybe 15-20%, can't remember exactly how much now.
  11. I've only stayed in Sonoma, so no lodging recommendations. However, I do totally have some winery recommendations. Frog's Leap: I simply cannot say enough about this winery. You have to make a reservation for the tasting room, but even if you don't do that it's worth the trip. We basically brought a lunch with us and when stopped in they gave a glass of wine and told us to enjoy the grounds and to take any fruit/veggies (not grapes though ) we wanted. I was totally impressed with their garden/pond/orchard, and they were super nice and the wine is good as well so it's win, win, win. I also think hitting some the champagne places right off the bat is a nice way to start. Gloria Ferrer and Domaine Carneros are really close to each other and I LOVE Schramsberg which is actually in St. Helena (north of Napa I think)-but I've never been to Schramsberg so can't really speak to the tasting/tour experience. If you do make it to Sonoma I very much recommend eating at the Girl and the Fig: fantastic place, food, and people.
  12. I'm actually doing mine before the wedding, so I'm not using my wedding dress, but a stand in which I'll probably use to do another TTD session in Austin once we get back. I went back and forth about maybe using my real dress, but ultimately because of the timing I can't do it.
  13. We're not doing a traditional cake for the actual wedding (we're just ordering dinner/dessert from the restaurant's regular menu), but for our AHR we are doing a regular reception with 2 cakes. We picked lemon with raspberries and buttercream frosting (sooooo good) and fat chocolate with raspberries and fudge frosting (yummmmm).
  14. I was actually wondering where this thread was myself so I'll add on... Congrats Drea and Erik, hope you guys enjoy(ed) every second of it!
  15. I'm bumming right now. I've been killing myself (ok not the last 2 weeks, but the whole last month before that) by doing that run 3x's, walk 2x's, pilates 3-4x's and I lost are you ready....4 lbs. I kind of lost a size, but not really because some stuff still seems to fit the same and other stuff actually fits when before it was a little tight. *sigh* I guess I'm wondering for those of you how have lost 20+ lbs by incorporating a lot of exercise and changing your eating habits (but not really dieting) if you had a lag before you saw serious results? Thanks!
  16. Hmm, I tried on #2 and the color washed me out even though I look good in gray/silver, so I would say try it on again with some people you trust to tell you the truth to check the color on you. But if it's good? I so go for #2-I was so sad it didn't look good on me.
  17. We chose the British Virgin Islands because we went there together last year for a vacation and we lived on a small sailboat for 5 days in September (which is rather warm and buggy). But after that trip I was absolutely sure that we had staying power and that I really wanted to marry him. Plus the BVI is beautiful, not overly developed and is a sailing mecca which we both love. The other great things were that even though it is another country they use the US dollar for their currency, English is the official language-so low threshold for those that aren't used to international travel. We found this great, small hotel with a world renowned restaurant so that clinched it, and we can do some island hopping for our honeymoon since we're already in the Caribbean.
  18. Anny, I am dying to know where you got the vases for your centerpieces. I want something very similar and cannot find them anywhere. Gracias! Your wedding looks like it was amazing, everything and everyone is beautiful, hope you enjoyed every second of it!
  19. Kash, I totally get it now. I really never thought of the samples being stretched out since most of them were so not my size to begin with.
  20. I like that dress, and from my own trying own experience can say that the asymetrical ruching (ok so can't spell today) is very flattering, makes your waist look teeny tiny. Good luck and have fun!
  21. Great list Kash, one thing I disagree with is getting exactly the right size. It's not as simple as that for some of us. If you are not a sample size and you end up liking and having to order a gown then the chances are pretty good it will need to be altered, wedding dress sizing (J Crew excluded) is not regular clothes sizing. If you are in between sizes (my issue) then err on the side of caution and order the larger size. It's much better to make it smaller than bigger, and DO take the alteration cost into consideration. Also, go to at least one full-service bridal salon, make an appointment, give them your budget and then let them pick some stuff for you and try it on even if you think you'll hate it. You might be surprised. Most of all you should enjoy the process as much as possible so even if you end up getting something unconventional you at least experienced the whole deal.
  22. I kinda agree with Tara here. You shouldn't feel obligated to turn everything inside out to include her, I doubt she expects it, and your wedding should be fun and not stressful. On the other hand if you really want her in the wedding party, I think your best course of action is to do the following: Tell all the bride's maids they can have their pick of dress in this color range (like all blues, all bright colors, etc.) and price range (if you're paying), but any style. Then the ones that really like the old dress can still wear it and if you get at least one other maid and your old friend to get different dresses it should be fine. Hope that helps!
  23. I'm looking, but you might want to go ahead and post a "Want It Now" on Ebay: eBay – Want It Now
  24. Congratulations! You look amazing and the colors are so pretty. I have to say my fave is the tequila pic of you.
  25. Wow Jessalyn, your dress looks amazing in the photos (I thought it was silk because it looks very similar to mine) that's actually what sparked this post.
