  1. Thanks, I really hate these pics of it, they don't do it (or me ) justice. I am getting excited I started getting nervous sweat when I tried it on yesterday because it's so close!
  2. Yeah, I'll try craigslist and ebay I guess. I got the JCrew dress off ebay for $60, so I could sell it and get something else if I get my stuff together.
  3. It is very see through w/o being wet. I need to get a different bra, and when I get that this weekend I'll post a pic with me in it. I can't use my real dress because we actually have to do the TTD before the wedding because we won't have time to do it the day after. I really wanted to do one TTD in the BVI-since I can't pass up the opportunity to get ocean shots-and then maybe one later here in Austin where I might use my real dress. I agree though that real dress would probably hold up better, so I may keep looking.
  4. Had my final (hopefully) fitting yesterday and got a better pic of the bodice of my dress (didn't have time to snap a full length one-but maybe when I pick it up in 3 weeks). So again, the quality is pretty bad since it was my phone camera and it's hard to take a good pic of yourself, but you get the idea. And here's a full pic (from first fitting):
  5. So I got my TTD and it happens to be the same one that Denise [DEE1978] had for her pics (J Crew Joanna linen dress) because that's what I could find cheap and that fit what I was looking for. Here's a pic: So I'm working with a photog who is known for his underwater shots and I really want to do a bunch of underwater TTD stuff, but I'm getting nervous that the dress will not hold up, or will be WAY too see through. I've purchased some underthings that help with the see through-ness, but I'm still worried that the dress may not look great underwater on me since it might be a bit clingy. Anyone use a similar type dress for their TTD or see pics of one? Denise's pics look great so maybe it's all about staging? Ideas, experiences and reassurances are welcome.

  7. I have been exercising and watching what I eat (not so much what I drink though ) all summer, but I'm right there with the 2 month brides...I'm way above my goal weight still. I joined a half marathon class so I'm really running and I'm trying to do pilates a few times a week as well. Now of course all this last minute ramping up is making me worried about the dress. I really like the running class thing though because you have people to buddy with, a coach and you're paying for it so I at least feel more like I HAVE to go and do my best on the runs/workouts. I would totally do some kind of cardio based class: swimming, tennis, rowing, whatever you are slightly interested in.
  8. Oh yeah, Coco de Mer: Coco de Mer - Erotic Emporium definitely not work appropriate
  9. Since we are paying for the wedding ourselves (he's paying for the majority of it) we decided we wouldn't get each other gifts, our bands would be our gifts to each other. Then he told me he'd been thinking about having earrings made for me (which he is not doing but that makes me think he might still surprise me with something). I feel if anything I should get him something since he is paying for most of the wedding and my band is more expensive. I would love to do b-pics because I know he'd love that, but I'm not sure I'm going to have the $, time or body for it before the actual wedding. Decisions.
  10. that is totally what I though she was doing, because hell I've been there, but I didn't want to say anything in case she was really trying to dry water on your dress or something.
  11. I second AP and the department store thing. They actually have some cute stuff at Macy's. I would say for the dept stores it's better to go in person. Here are some other (admittedly high end) faves: Spoylt Silk Storm, Exclusive Designer Lingerie and there's one more I have bookmarked at home, but can't think of the name-so I'll add it later. oh, and more of a mix: figleaves.com - Bras, Panties, Swimsuits, and Full Figure Lingerie
  12. Congrats Tammy, enjoy every single second of being a mom!
  13. Just a head's up to you brides in the Austin/San Antonio area that Serendipity Bridal (Austin) is having their fall sample sale right now (Sept 10-29th). I ordered my dress through Serendipity and have been very pleased with their service and niceness. Their website: Texas Bridal Shop Austin Texas Bridal Shop Bridal Shop In Texas Bridal Shop In Austin Texas
  14. Oh, I wanted to mention that if you are looking for reviews on makeup/skin care I totally recommend Makeup Alley. They have tons of product reviews by just regular people and so sometimes you can get idea if something might be worth trying at least.
  15. So I have sensitive/oily/breakout prone skin that's also not as young as it used to be (sun spots, a little scaring, some terrible dark circles and laugh lines). I have been hunting for the right makeup since I got engaged (Feb), and I've tried everything (not really it just feels like it). I'm actually allergic to Bare Minerals (the Bismuth Oxychloride I believe) and get a terrible reaction around my mouth/chin area when I wear it in the sun. But Everyday Minerals (no bismuth oxychloride) drys my skin out terrible and also give me a reaction in that area. Clinique is also too harsh/drying for my skin (yes I really do have oily skin). And most everything else has perfume in it (which I start itching if I just smell the make up). But I went to Nordstrom Labor Day weekend and had a Shiseido makeup session and I have to say I'm loving their foundation. I had their The Makeup Dual Balancing Foundation (SPF 17) for the session and I used that last week with no problems and then this weekend I went back for a sample of their Ultimate Sun Protection Liquid Foundation (SPF 34 or 55) and I've got that on today and I LOVE it even more than the regular foundation (no sunscreen smell!!!). I thought their stuff might be too scented for me (the foundation doesn't really have a smell but some of their other products do), but I have had no problems and my skin feels so good for a change, no rash, no acne, redness is fading. Anyway... Uh, so yeah I'm in love with Shiseido.
  16. So beautiful on you, it's definitely "the one". You look fantastic and happy in it! Yay!
  17. I'm having an AHR, I'll try to post some numbers for both the wedding and reception later today. I would definitely say it's been fairly easy to keep to our 10K budget for the wedding, the AHR we wanted to also do for 10K, but that's turning out not to be as realistic.
  18. I was you 6-7 months ago. I adore my flip-flops and jeans, and I did not want the dress to be a big expensive deal. I was going to do a simple summer dress in white, and I ordered a cotton dress from J Crew, but it was WAY too see-through and didn't look that great on me and then my mom and sis (and even FH) said I should do the dress trying on thing just to do it-to have the complete experience so I wouldn't later feel like I missed something. So I did, I dreaded it because I am definitely not a sample size, but the sales ladies (I actually only had one who really helped me with dresses and "attended" to me) were all perfectly nice to me, and surprise, surprise I ended up falling in love with something totally traditional, and I'll still be wearing my flip-flops with it. When you do go just have fun with it and trust yourself to know what you want, and don't worry about it too much in the meantime.
  19. I'm doing placecards in little flip-flop frames (which I guess are favors), and I'm also doing a modified OOT (just koozie, itinerary, sailing "ticket").
  20. I know how you feel, as the lone British Virgin Islands bride, but everyone's right you can still get tons of great advice and ideas from everyone. I'm hoping to add a lot of BVI info to the boards as well to help out any brides after me, because if there's more info and help there might be more interest. The other option is to do what the Jamaican brides have done and recruit!
  21. I have a veil and a handband thing, not really a tiara, with pearls. Since my hair is only chin length I'll probably keep it down and wear the headband and veil.
  22. Yay, so it is a good thing (I figured it was since you had the ticker, but was wee bit nervous)!
  23. And see I knew I worded that badly, yet I posted it anyway just to mess with everyone.
