Tammy HOST - PLEASE DO NOT READ this thread!
Jessica replied to SASSYGIRL's topic in Forum News & Updates
aww. haha, that's a super cute idea! -
i agree, wait until it arrives and try it on first before you get disappointed. $70 is super cheap!!! so it's not a big waste if it turns out to be something you didn't want and you can always resell it. The only thing I would be concerned about is the actual quality (loose thread, material, etc) which you can investigate when it arrives. i also paid $70 on ebay for my dress and was way hapy with it. it was abridal store sample so it had some missing buttons, but other than that it was awesome and if i decide to trash it, i won't feel guilty! was the seller based in china? i ask because when searching for wedding dresses on ebay, there were lots of great ones, but they were all in china, and despite the decent feedback, i was still sketchy because most of the feedback were from the same people with low feedback and in china as well. let us know how it turns out!

Pick a BM Bag..I'm too indecisive
Jessica replied to SusanK's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
i like both, but i think i would be more like to actually use #2. i think the shape and the larger amount of fabric make it more versatile to me. -

Although, instead of wearing one dress for the wedding and one for the reception, I'm wearing the formal dress for the wedding day and the less formal dress for the "trash the dress" session the day after. Although, if my formal dress gets waaayyyy too hot, I might bust out the informal one during the reception! that's an awesome idea sarah! if i was doing a day after session i'd do that as well!

Thanks for the feedback girls. And yes, TVT, that makes sense. Actually, thanks for mentioning that because it occured to me that ok, if they show up, they won't have chairs at the ceremony and extras like the oot and favors and stuff, but because my reception is at a resturant on a public night, it should be easy to add on their dishes at the reception. There just won't be a guaranteed table for them, but I'm sure that would be easy to work out. But I'm still upset about the complete lack of disregard for the RSVP prcess I've experienced from my family and friends. I don't understand it. Grr.

Ok, so I of course bought all new clothes for my honeymoon. My FI was like "Why do you need new clothes? You have more than enough!" (which is true, but any excuse to shop!). So anyway, I began to tell him that all my old clothes were girlfriend/fiance clothes, and that I now need "wife" clothes! So that's my story. But the point of this is to share any new purchases you've made for your trip!! I've got a lot more, but these are the one's I swiped pictures of! Perfect for a casual dinner/lunch out. Super sweet gift for mom idea!
Jessica replied to MelissaH's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
oh, i was looking at that as well as gifts for the mom. they are cute!! -
So, RSVP's are a really touchy subject for me. I included stamps on them along with clear instructions of when they were due, and that they NEEDED to be back by this due date because I have to give head counts and such. So, several people did not return their RSVP cards. We hunted those down. We got a few "yeah, we're coming." Ok, well you didn't send the RSVP back so we didn't know "Oh, yeah. Well we're coming." Okkkkkaaaaayyy. I bite my tongue for these people and angrily scribbled down there names on the "yes" list. So, my aunt, cousin and cousin's gf, weren't originally on my invite list, not because i don't want them there, but honestly, haven't seen them since i was like 15 and it just didn't occur to me. However, my cousin is close to my dad and lives in the same area as my dad (parents are divorced). But they expressed interest in coming to my dad, so I said, cool, and sent them everything when I sent out everyone elses. They did not return their RSVP's. Ok. They recived that same "Are you coming?" call. They reply with "Yeah, I think so." Well, ok, but I need an answer ASAP. Repeat this process for the past month. No seriously people, I NEED your answers. Final head counts are needed for the reception, ceremony (chairs, etc), transportation and a couple of other things. I mean I have vendors emailing me wanting the head count. They still are being super wishy washy saying, yeah, we're trying to come but have to get our tickets etc. Ok, i understand they don't have a lot of money, but i gave them a year to save and if they wanted to come so bad, they should have started setting aside money long ago and not waited until the last minute to try to scrape it together. It's pissing me off!!!! Finally I just included them in the headcount so I could start paying stuff. But if they don't come, it basically means I wasted about $500 accommodating them when they aren't showing. At this point I don't even want them there. At this point, I can still do a last minute headcount adjustment and get the money back, but they won't give me a firm answer if they are coming or not. I don't want to be completely rude and say "Well, you can't come, you didn't return the RSVP anyway!" Ugh. I'm not even sure if this is a rant, question or what.

i got both from oriental trading company. they were pretty inexpensive. -
Excellent. Welcome. The USVI is a great location (and I say that cause i'm Biased. I'm having a wedding in St. Thomas). St. Thoma sis perfect if you want a busier island with an active nightlife. St. John is you want a more lid back, hang out at the beach spot. And St. Croix if you want just pure nature and really low key environment. If you have any questions about St. Thomas, let me know. Click the links in my sig for some ideas if you want. Good luck!!!

yuck, that sucks like a sucky situation. definitely push for the resturant you want. there's gotta be a way to make it work!

Gerber Daisy Bouquets
Jessica replied to Mrs.Morley's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.

Here's one more pic: i'm paying $65 for my bridal bouquet of red gerber daisies. but this is in the usvi. however, the first florist my wc went to wanted like $150 because they classified it as a premium bouquet because they had to special order the daisies. -
Starting to not look good :(
Jessica replied to RaydensMama's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
i think that yes, it's your day and you should have the wedding you want, but if you want people at your DW wedding, you should make an effort to make it affordable for them. i know people say that those who love you will find a way, etc. etc. but realistically, some finances won't allow $2000pp no matter how far they try to stretch their dollars. making an effort to attend a wedding is one thing, breaking the bank to do it is another. why don't you take into consideration other options, like not having everyone stay at one place, that way those who can't afford a 4 star option don't feel obligated. i gave my guest a choice of accommodations. i sent them std' packages with a newsletter that had a list of reccommended hotels in various price ranges as well a different packages they could book. they were able to choose what they could afford. -

the polka dot ones are super cute! -
Is anyone else wearing a different dress for their reception? I orginally bought a very cool, but not traditional, wedding dress. Then I fell in love recently with a more traditional dress and cha-ching, in teh swipe of a debit card it was mine!! I still loved dress #1 and didn't want to totally ditch it, so I decided to wear it to the reception, especially since it would be more practical for me to move around in (my reception is also going to be on the sand at a beach site). I feel like such a diva doing a wardrobe change!!
