Jessica replied to Saraha's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
looks awesome!!!! i so want to do bd pics!! i just need some $$$ -
i would have to get one on each side just to have some symmetry! i'd probably get it on my dominant arm though. i'm contemplating getting a tattoo in honor of aiden and i think i'm getting it on the inside of my wrist, which is perfect because i want one other child so eventually i'll get one on my other wrist as well! what place are you getting your tattoo at? the tattoo convention is going to be coming up soon. woo-hoo. ok, that's all i have to say on this

My cousin and her friend flew out from JFK, also stayed at Bolongo for 4 nights nad 5 days and paid about $1600 for hotel and airfare. I think that time in May was sort of in the middle of high and low season rates. I don't know if Oct would be cheaper or more expensive. Oh, and both my mom and cousin used Orbitz to find a hotel/airline combo discount. There were some problems with cancelled/changed flight times buut I think that's mostly because they booked a year in advance so things were bound to change, but the airline had no problem adjusting their tickets (the new flight times would have resulted in them missing their connecting flights). Also, there are hotels on the island that are less expensive than Bolongo, so your guests could pay less than my family did. And I totally understand about wanting to keep costs down. Basically my side of family is broke and Brian's side is the one with more money to spend, so I tried to keep costs down for my family as much as I could. Oh PS. Even though Bolonogo offers AI rates, they didn't stay as AI guests.

On one hand, it is really sweet that your DH wants to help all dogs. But I can totally understand where you are coming from. How long would this dog be with you? Just because you mentioned the wanting a family thing, the dog wouldn't be with you longer than 9 months right? Or is it that you mean you feel like Cain is going to keep bringing home aggressive dogs in the future. I can definitely understand why you would be worried about having a dog like that around small children. I would also imagine aggressive dogs would also pose a problem with other pets in your house as well too right? Sounds like a lot to handle!

No gifts for parents - in poor taste?
Jessica replied to AmandaR's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I think it's fine. We didn't get our parents gifts. We paid for the entire wedding ourselves though. We did give them albums after the wedding. But honestly, neither of our parent's cared about getting gifts. They were just happy that we got married (especially my parents who thought I'd NEVER get married!). -

Perhaps the reason he feels so strongly about this is because of the recent circumstances. He's been sick... and men have these macho egos, maybe he precieves getting help from your friend as a sign of weakness on his part. I think maybe he may feel that as the man, he should take care of his family and his home. He should be the protector, provider, fixer-upper. Being sick may have made him even more vulnerable to the fact that he can't "do it all" right now. It's just a thought. I think I would just let it go. I know you said one of the rooms has a really tall ceiling or something. Is Bria's room with tall ceilings? Or is it a manageable height? Is there anyway maybe you and Bria, and even a friend of Bria's can just have a girlie painting party type of deal and paint her room?!

You can find free rum punch all over the island! You can pretty much get wasted for free if you try! Every place we went to, free rum punch! I was pregnant and couldn't drink... I couldn't get a glass of water to save my life, but the rum punch was everywhere.

I'm sorry Kelly. I can relate. Brian is the same way and it's so annoying! I don't have any advice, but hopefully he comes around! He shoud be happy that he can have this stuff done and not actually have to do the work himself. Hell, I wish someone would come over and finish my home projects for me!

Our guests didn't do AI and they loved trying out all the different places to eat. I know shops around the downtown area and in Havensight close up depending on the cruise schedule, but as far as I know most of the other places are still open. If you venture beyond the touristy downtown area, there's so many wonderful places to eat. Brian and I, as well as out guests are for the most part laid back and adventurous, so we had no trouble going to hole in the wall joints. It was great! I can't even remember half of the names of the places we ate in, but they were all fun! I don't know, in my opinion, if you just do the standard by the map tourist attraction deal you are really missing out on the true travel experience. We did all that stuff, but didn't just stick to what was in the guide book. We had a BLAST for the ten days we were there. And we met so many cool people. I can't wait to take Aiden back there. I can see why my WC (who was originally from the states and had her DW there) moved there after they got married on the island.

i sooo want to hire a cleaning lady. even with me being home all day, it's so hard to keep the house clean with Aiden constantly needing me, the dog and then Brian the MESSIEST husband ever. this drives me insane because i'm a clean freak! but yeah, Brian won't budge. damn him!

lol. brian always says stupid pickup lines to me when we go out. he thinks he's funny. he's said most of them ones on there!

When you are a teenager you have a myopic view of the world and all you can understand is your own world. They don't understand that when they grow up boys abuse and laugh at the girls who posted pics on myspace and marry the ones who had the sense to leave something to the imagination. Unfortunately at the time period in their lives in which they are living, peer pressure is so strong that you being an outside is just to awful to fathom. I totally agree with everything you said. It is sad though that our culture encourages boys to lust after the sexy, "slutty" girls and marry the nice ones. I think it's a lose-lose. Girls are taught you must be sexy to have boys like you, you must bare your boobs, show off your ass, etc. It leaves some of the "nice" girls feeling like crap. Then when you are older, it's the other way around and the "wild" girls are the ones feeling like crap. It also really irks me how we chalk up the behavior as men just being men and boys just being boys without questioning it. Dismissing it as biology. I just hope I can teach my son to respect women and girls as being more than just body parts.

thank god Brian isn't into strip clubs so this was not an issue. because i would have said "no f'ing way!" for the following reasons: 1. i think it's gross and disrespectful that marriage is viewed as a death sentence and you have to get one last up and personal peek at another chick's goodies before you get married. 2. no freaking way is he using our money to put down some skanky panties. 3. there's no way he'd be ok with letting some guy feel me up, so why is it ok for him to have some naked girl rub up against him. as your future husband he should respect the fact that you feel uncomfortable with this. who is more important? you or some strippers. and if his friends are at all his real friends they will respect you as his fiance and find something else to do!

Who's ready for...(drum roll).. THE HILLS!
Jessica replied to Jacqueline's topic in Celebrity Gossip!
So I attempted to watch this last night in, but Brian (the jerk) kept mocking the show and ruined it for me so I just said screw it and let DVR record it. I finally got to watch it this morning. - I agree about Heidi wearing too much makeup. She looks so much prettier without all of it. Speaking of makeup, there was a scene when Lauren and Whitney first met up with that band and Lauren was wearing a TON of makeup. It looked horrible. - Wow. All the Colorado scenes felt super staged. Even more than usual. - I also agree about Brody and Lauren making it seem like she was leaving for the whole summer. It was one freaking week!?! I didn't even get that emo when I had to leave Brian for a week. Jeez! -

i've never met people from the internet before. i mentioned possibly going to the philly meet up to Brian and he kind of gave me a weird look. i am kind of nervous about possibly going. it's like "first day of school" scary! i don't know if i'm like my "online" personality. i'm usually super quiet and shy when i first meet people. i tend to sit back and observe them. once i'm comfortable i tend to come out of my shell... and obviously knocking back a few drinks helps!
