  1. VERY choppy on the way from the resort to Dunns River Falls. My brother got sick several times on the way there, but fine on the way back. A few people who usually get sea sick took some dramamine and were fine.
  2. CONGRATS TAMI!!! Can't wait to hear all about your day! I'm so excited for your pictures!!!!

  7. What I would do again: 1. The Riu Ocho Rios - was perfect for our group!! 2. Destination wedding - wouldn't change that for the world! 3. Be RELAXED on wedding day and not let little things bug me out 4. Semi-private reception at Mammee Bay restaurant PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING!!!! What I wouldn't do again: 1. Let Reggie be in charge of bringing the camcorder, etc (he forgot tapes) 2. OOT bags - nobody used anything in them except for the mugs 3. Personalized travel mugs - the combo of the sunscreen & heat melted off the personalized logos... I should've just bought plain, blank ones for less than half the price!

We left the resort at 3pm - were there for an hour. Was a perfect time to go - we only saw one other group of people, and - let's face it - privacy is important during a TTD! haha! It's about a 20-minute drive (just so long because you have to drive up a VERY narrow street to get to the top of a mountain!) Sunset at the resort happens in the back - so TTD 'sunset pics' on the beach aren't really an option. You get really neat sky color - but not the sunset! Sunrise if RIGHT over the beach - that'd be a good idea if you're going to split the TTD (we did) Quote: Originally Posted by md_ocr Did Heidi post her TTD pics?? I must have missed it. 12. US Airways Charges for 'Choice Seats' Wed Apr 16 2008, by TravelTrade Staff A la carte airline service continued to advance with US Airways announcing a "Choice Seats" program beginning May 7, in which the airline will charge extra for a guaranteed window or aisle seat assignment within the first several rows of coach. The program, announced by the airline's president Scott Kirby in a letter to employees, will offer customers using Web check-in at usairways.com the option to pay extra for the seat assignments. The number of seats available will vary by aircraft, but, he said, will cover about 8% of the airline's seats. Fees will start at $5 per flight, and will depend on destination and segment length. Choice Seats will be available on the majority of US Airways flights, but not on the US Airways Shuttle or on Colgan-operated Saab 340 airplanes. The program will be expanded to airport check-in locations later this year. US Airways' elite frequent-flier members will be able to book Choice Seats free of charge. Kirby cited rising fuel costs for the reason the airline needed to find a way to generate more revenue. He also noted that the airline industry is moving toward a more a la carte model.

  17. We didn't get any of that. But we got the room upgrade, so I was happy! I meant to include that in my review...that we didn't get quite a bit of things that were listed with the package. Except the room upgrade!
  18. Quote: Originally Posted by christenew First let me say THANK-YOU for such a fab review. So much detail. I read your note about the excursions. I am looking to offer this up for our guests. Did you pre book this/how far in advance did you arrange this? Did the $52 include everything? Did you leave right from the resort? How long were you gone for? What is the youngest/oldest you would recomend this for? How many people were on the catamaran? Was it private for just your guests? So many questions, I am sorry. We negotiated the deal while we laid on the lounge chairs in the beach the day before (wedding day morning)! SERIOUSLY! Scuba Caribe reps walk up and down the beach seeing if anyone is interested in their excursions. They work on commission - so they'll work on getting you the best deal. We worked with one woman at their physical building on the beach - she was going to give us 1 person free for our group of 22. We were talking wtih one of the reps on the beach and told him we already planned it. He said he'd get 2 of us for free (bride & groom). So we signed with him (reps actually split the commission on our booking). Instead of taking the 2 people for free, we just broke down the amount so everyone paid less money. I wrote the wrong # though...it was $58pp, now that I'm at work with a calculator! haha! We took a small boat out from the ROR beach to the big catamaran (just off the shore) - they literally tied the boats together and we walked from one to the other. We left at 10am-ish and were back eating lunch shortly before 2. The $ included the catamaran trip, about an hour of snorkeling out at the reef, admission to Dunns River falls and rum punch on the boat. There were 3 people that were not part of our group, so no - it's not private. We had about 6 who didn't climb the falls (the older generations - my in-laws, my aunt, his aunt, his brother b/c he was on crutches and my mom made it half way) - but there's steps the non-waterfall climbers can take. It's still gorgeous views! Plus, they took pictures of us the whole time! My mom has a really bad back and had to quit the fall climb about half-way through it. My uncle (61 yrs old) climbed the WHOLE thing! (was in a ton of pain the next day, but he did it! ) No young people in our group, but there were kids who did it there. I wouldn't let my kid do it - it could be VERY dangerous!!
  19. to the forum! I just got married there...you're going to LOVE it! It's a fabulous resort!!

  21. !!!!!!!!!!IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just received the following email from the photographer I (and three others while I was at ROR) hired & brought to Jamaica with me... Hey honey! Just walked in my door - I need for you to make a post on the BDW forum to warn all girls that are planning on bringing in outside photog & any destination wedding photogs that have weddings booked there. I have never in my life been as scared as I was yesterday evening (my last night at the resort) - the goons at the Photoshop had one of the bellboys come threaten me during (another bride's) reception in the disco. He was trying to pull me out, demanding my room #, etc. Was so glad it was my last day there & would be leaving this am. I am going to lodging a formal complaint with the main office of the RIU, and so is the bride - she was livid!!! I'll also put out there that we had ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS AT ALL with Michael or Photoshop. We booked a FREE package - and Michael is not notified of those weddings. HOpefully, if you book the free package and bring an outside photographer nobody will bother you...
