Did her Mom and Rocky ever get together...?? And what about Charlotte - oh Charlotte! lol I miss them. Thanks for putting it into words for me...

I just finished an awesome book - "The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets" by Eva Rice. It's the kind of book that makes you wanna retire early to a bubble bath and candle light and read as much or as little as you please... but at least enough to entice yourself into their world for a little while. I just finished it this morning, and am finding myself missing the characters (as I often do after a good book). I have about 4 others waiting for me that I picked out from Half-Price Books at the same time as this one, but I almost feel like I need to let everything soak in before I move on... kinda like leaving one relationship for another - need some time to recoup and revel in it for a bit. Funny this is, when I bought the 5 books, I told myself that I would pick out the one I thought I would like the least and read that one first. Turns out this is one of my favorite books that I've read thus far! Funny how that works out sometimes. Definitely a random thought...

Gift for your Groom

It's like he can never get enough. He has requested a Tag, I'm currently trying to figure out how to pay for it...yikes! I agree with this - the saleswoman at the store said she has many male clients who come in and collect watches, kinda like a girl collects shoes... or even better, diamonds! I really want to get Martin a nice watch or something like that... maybe even a wallet (which is special to him because the first really nice one he got was given to him by his grandfather who passed away several years ago)... Got several ideas in mind, actually. But, I'm not sure if he will be giving me something so I don't want him to feel bad. I do know I am going to have his ring engraved though. -
Another Texas girl getting married in Las Caletas
JaimeLynne replied to Owensmiley's topic in Newbies!!
Welcome, I'm also a Texas girl (Dallas) and getting married at LC (our abbreviation for Las Caletas, btw). Do a search on the upper right hand side of the page and you will come across a WEALTH of info! There is a specific thread strictly dedicated to LC Brides and it's over 100 pages, so I suggest you find that and start readin'! -

No kidding OK so does anyone know the time of the debate tonight? (I'm in Central Time Zone btw but can convert it if need be ) I'm happy that you reminded me! I was kinda bummed today because Martin works late tonight and then goes to school and all my friends are busy. Guess I'll just grab a glass of wine and order in and watch the debate for my nightly entertainment! I am really interested in this one. Actually, for the first time so far I've actually been interested given Palin jumping in and switching things up. I used to work for the previous 2 campaigns (against Bush) but for some reason this one just never shook me up... not sure why. But now I'm really invested!

Btw, we had our dinner and paired it with the Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc - YUMMMMY! It was really lovely - we made the stirfry (with chicken, 3 different bell peppers, onions & broccoli w/ Honey, Ginger & Soy Marinade which was actually slightly spicy). We made everything and then took it up to our rooftop deck with the bottle of wine and downtown Dallas in the foreground catching the beginning of the sunset - ahhhh, just lovely. The wine pairing was great! Thanks Tami for the suggestions

I think I remember that you like lots of California wines, so just make sure they don't say "Burgundy" style and you should be good to go! Interesting. Yeah I'm not a big French wine fan! My favs are New Zealand/Australia, then California

Oh though I must ask - what is the difference between New and Old World reds??
-
Tami - yay, I was really hoping you'd chime in!!! Thanks!!! Maybe we will do the Kim Crawford since we already have it... Just in case we do go red - we're not big Pinot Noir fans... is there a particular brand of merlot that you'd recommend?? Excellent advice and pretty easy to follow - Thanks again!! *edit* Oh and btw, I believe I purchased the Kim Crawford on your recommendation!! I tried it out at dinner one night just to make sure I liked it and I did - very yummy

Thought I'd start a thread about particular wine pairings - questions you have, or maybe you already are a pro at this and have some suggestions for random dishes and their wine companions already! K, so tonight we're making Chicken Stir Fry with a Honey Teriyaki Sauce. I've got a Kim Crawford Sauvingon Blanc chilling in the wine fridge and a little bit of Palmina Malvasia Bianca left. I'm actually kinda craving red tho... any reds that would match up or is a white better? Suggestions on both appreciated!!!

Laser Eye Surgery - anyone's experiences?
JaimeLynne replied to Alyssa's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
I'm not sure what PRK is, however I had Lasik done about 3 years ago. I'm one of those "horror stories" I guess... First off, my pupils get H-U-G-E. The doc says he's never seen someone's pupils get so large yet under light they shrink to the size of a pinhole... anyways, they said this particular laser would cover my extra large pupil size. Wellll, apparently not. I still wear glasses from time to time and have a difficult time seeing in low light/night time and under fluorescent lighting. I get halos pretty bad. I also have to wear these drops whenever I go out at night or go to school (with the fluorescent lights) or doc's offices, etc. that make my pupils go down (otherwise it seriously looks like I'm on drugs and it makes me so self-conscious! - not to mention I couldn't drive without them). These drops cost over $100 for a tiny little container (10ml). Very expensive... My doc keeps bugging me to go back in but honestly the surgery freaked me the F out. I take anti-anxiety meds on a regular basis so I think the dinky valium they gave me did NADA and I was really freaking out during the surgery. It's like being up in a spaceship with aliens while they probe your eyes and then paint the lenses back on. I'm sorry, but no one ever said ANYTHING bad before I went in so I thought it would be a breeze and it most certainly was not for me... if you have anxiety issues make sure they give you enough medication to properly calm you down. I'm way too freaked out to go back in and have them corrected. However, I will say this - I would not take back the initial surgery. I used to be so blind (couldn't even see the big "E" on the screening tests) and now I can see MUCH better than that!! And it's a choice whether or not I wear my glasses for the most part. Ok I hope I didn't freak you out too much but I did want to share my experience... -

Hi Jillian, I was proposed to at that resort! It is very lovely and LARGE! Actually, too large for us. It is seriously like 2 football fields length distance from the front desk to the beach (if not more). Of course, I had mono while we were there so gotta take that into consideration! If you're having a lot of kids/families I think it's a good place to stay.. Now, I *think* the Paraiso and the Lindo/Maya are 2 separate hotels, but it has been awhile! The Maya is the nicest and connected to the Lindo so y'all use the same awesome facilities (TONS of pools, etc.) but if you're looking for a nicer room I'd book on the Maya side. However, if you're wanting to save some money than the Lindo is also fine. I don't know much about group booking rates since we quickly decided that just wasn't the resort for us... The restaurants are pretty decent, beach is too, and the pools are like one giant waterpark! I did a search for my review but I cannot find it - sorry!! I'm sure it's out there somewhere tho... lost in BDW wonderland Good luck! ~ Jaime

Yeah, I was doing a little research and saw there are like 3 different types (maybe more?). I'm assuming my doc thinks I have bacterial since he gave me bacterial eye drops. It definitely hurts a lot more in one eye...

Oh and btw how long does this usually take to clear up if you're on drops? I'm supposed to take them for 5 days...
