Veuve de Vernay is pretty good too, as is Rotari Brut - for inexpensive bubblies. I was asking the guy at Siegel's about the difference between Heidsick and Sonoma. He seemed to think that for the price Sonoma's a better buy. I wanna try the Heidsick tho! Toso Brut... have not heard of that one yet! Hopefully I can remember this all... I think I need to get a Wine Notepad to write all of these down!

I wonder, since Martin's parents paid for our flight with miles, if we'd be able to ask at the gate if we could pay (cash/credit) to upgrade if they had room? Is this how it's done? Just kind of play dumb? I am such a sucker for things like first class and room upgrades

We have some Veuve Cliquot in the wine fridge but I think Martin would kill me if I opened that without him ;P Sigel's (a liquor store here) is having a big sale on champagne starting today though! Gotta go pick some up!! Tami - recommendations on that? We tried a new one - Piper Sonoma and really liked it. Totally decent price too! But they have that Roederer (I'm probably butchering the name but dykwim?) for $15 off! I think I've heard good things about it from you... I always think of you when I'm out buying wine, lol

It's only $2.95/mo. for unlimited calls to U.S. & Canada. Let's do it! Online wine party! Now Martin can officially think I'm bonkers

P.S. I wanna come to your wine party toooooo (that's my whining typing voice ) How badass would it be to have a BDW wine tasting party at Tami's?!? Mannn, I so wish some of you girls lived closer!!! I could so go for a girl's wine tasting get together ~ we'd have a blast!

The lighter in color they are, the more I like them usually. And Matt also found that I tend to like Australian wine. He pays attention to that crap, I had never noticed! Tami is the best! She sent me some wine last year for Xmas and it was superb Carly - You like exactly what I like!!! Australian/New Zealand Wines are my fav - ESPECIALLY Pinot Grigio & Sauv. Blanc. You must try Nobilo Sauvignon Blanc - I looove that. Also, Kim Crawford (Tami introduced me to that! Thanks Tami!) is delish' and goes so well with sweet teriyaki stir fry! YUM! We also like Starborough Marlborough (did I spell that right??). We actually found it way discounted at a tasting yesterday so we bought 2 bottles. If you're going for cheap wine - Barefoot has a decent Pinot Grigio. I also like Santa Ema Merlot for a red. Not sure where that's from though...Chile, actually i think... Oh and Peter Lehmann's Clancys is an awesome red wine - I know that one is from Australia. We are always sampling new Australian/New Zealand wines! Tonight our bottle is Starborough Marlborough! Excited about THAT!!

I just found out that my favorite Aunt and her family might not be able to come though (not due to money issues, but due to the kids school!) so that is a big bummer because there's really nothing we can do to help since it's not a money issue... That will knock 5 of our favorite people off the list.. This made me sad to hear but I am so grateful when people tell me these things in advance! Then if they ARE able to come it's like a bonus! And Andi - I was wavering on the AHR type thing when we returned because we figured that would mainly consist of people who were already at the wedding. However, now that some of my close family who would probably be able to make something in Dallas might not be coming I think we will totally do this too! Two weddings! Maybe we could even do a little vow ceremony too... that would be really sweet All kindsa possibilities! Glad to hear you're breathing better!!! We did a 2 Year Engagement and although at first it felt like for-freaking-EVER... I'm loving it now!

xmas edition of getting to know your friends (if your bored)
JaimeLynne replied to DanielleNDerek's topic in Random Thoughts
1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? I like to wrap gifts around the Christmas Holiday - now birthdays, that's usually a different story... slap it into a pretty bag and it's ready to go! 2. Real tree or Artificial? We have an artificial tree that my Grandparents gave to us last year because they are getting too old to put it up and take it all down. They're simplifying It is obviously very sentimental so we love it! 3. When do you put up the tree? Normally right after Thanksgiving but this year we're getting into the Xmas spirit early! I think next weekend 4. When do you take the tree down? sometime in January... we can get really lazy about that though. 5 . Do you like eggnog? I think I had it for the first time last year. OMG SOOO delish! But this year it's totally not on my "low dairy, low fat" diet I'll probably try and find a way to make it out of my new favorite vanilla rice milk this year LOL 6. Favorite gift received as a child? Mother Goose Doll 7. Hardest person to buy for? Hmmm... probably my Dad. Grandpa too. And FIL's 8. Easiest person to buy for? Martin.. I already have his "big" gift, 1 "medium" gift and plenty of ideas for stocking stuffers! 9. Do you have a nativity scene? no 10. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail 11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? These shoes my uncle bought me when I was like 12. Can't even explain them... lol 12. Favorite Christmas Movie? Is Dan in Real Life a Christmas movie? I watched that the other day and was totally bawling! I love Chevy Chase's Christmas movie and also love The Holiday 13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? I started early this year - Sept. or Oct. 14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? Yes! Right in front of the person who gave it to me and they didn't even notice!!!!!! hahaha *phew* 15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Fudge that Mrs. Cole makes 16. Lights on the tree? I go back and forth. I think last year we did green. 17. Favorite Christmas song? All I Want for Christmas Is You by Vince Vance and the Valiants (I grew up with Vince Vance, he was good friends with my Dad! :-)) 18. Travel at Christmas or stay at home? Stay in the area. First we go to my Grandparents Christmas eve for a long standing tradition - our family (the Millers) have been getting together with the Cole family for over 30 years! Then we will spend the night there (in Denton, about 45 mins north of Dallas), open gifts with my family and then drive back to Dallas to spend the rest of the day with Martin's family and then back home by the fire with Ollie to open our stockings! 19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer's? Youuuu knowwwww.. Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen. Comet and Cupid and Donnor and Blitzen. But do you recallll... the most faaaamous reindeeerr of alll? Roudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer! Ha! That song came in handy! 20. Angel on the tree top or a star? Hmmm.. I think we have an angel... or maybe a star... lmao I dunno. 21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? When I was little I always got to open 1 present on Christmas Eve and the rest the next morning. Now it's all on Christmas Day 22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? Trying to get things straightened out between the two families. UGH! 23. What theme or color are you using? Don't really have one. 24. Favorite for Christmas dinner. Hmmm, again - don't really have one... 25. What do you want for Christmas this year? Too many things to list! 26. Who is most likely to respond to this? All you BDW gals 27. Who is least likely to respond to this? Some of you BDW gals? lol -
Are you Brand loyal for household products?

We try and use Seventh Generation or the more general organic/Earth-friendly brands as much as possible! Go green! -
Tara - great pics! I love that you posted these, thanks!! jweekly - Honestly, the economy IS in the crapper right now. My guests have stopped booking for now. But, I think things will pick up after the Holidays. We planned far out in advance (2 Years!) so no one has any MAJOR excuses jk I do have 1 BM who is for sure not coming, and my uncle may not be able to come due to finances, but these are things we knew going into it. We also planned in our budget for a few "special" people - certain people that we picked out beforehand who if they could not come simply because of money, then we knew we'd have funds set aside to help them out. There are one or two on that list who we would pay their entire trip just to be there (like my MOH - luckily though it looks like she'll be able to afford it on her own). You may want to do some things like this. Especially because these are hard times. Just some ideas. All in all, yes - it is your wedding. But will you really be happy if there were only 5-10 people there? You've got to be prepared for the worst. If you're OK with that, then go ahead (and realize more people will most likely come). What is it they say "Prepare for the worst, plan for the best" ...? (or have I completely butchered that..? lol) And, you've got a great forum of girls to help you through the rough times (which there will be! lol) if you do decide to go with a DW. It is an amazing experience, all said and done.... I hope that helped some.

I don't know what your first hairstylist was thinking - that cut looks NOTHING like Nicole R.'s!!! I would be furious too! That said, I think the manager did a good job. It's still not quite as edgy as NR's, however, having had a short bob (as in my siggy pic) it does require some work at times to make it look as good as it does in that photo of her - remember she has a whole styling team behind her!!! There are great natural products out there though so if you're worried about that, don't be! I did a lot of searching and found a great brand - Shikai I believe it's called. Has worked really well for me - no SLS, propolyne glycol, etc... uses natural Henna to enhance your color too. They also have a styling gel I think as well as several different shampoos/conditioners and hairspray. I especially like their leave in conditioner - it helps to reduce any frizz which is great for a bob. I'd def. recommend it!

Ok, I'm back again WOW WOW WOW!!! Elizabeth, outstanding job!! Fannie, you looked stunning and you two look hot hot HOT in those TTD pics!!! I can't believe how many stand-out photos she captured of y'all - SO full of color and emotion! I really can't believe what an amazing job she did (well, I CAN, but ya know... ) You two look sooo in love and it looks like y'all really got to relax and soak it all in after the ceremony. Oh and I love the native ceremony y'all did after the wedding! So neat! You two are going to have so many beautiful pieces of artwork to hang in your home now! I bet it will be tough to choose between them all! Gosh, I can (obviously) hardly contain myself! I've got to show these to Martin - he's gonna love them!! WOW WOW WOW WOW LOL
-
WOW WOW WOW! The opening colors blew me away. I had to break away for a second though because I saw something and I wanted to ask you - are those foot jewels or "jewel sandals" on your feet in that one pic after the ceremony?? Those look amazing! What a great idea!! If they aren't your shoes and they are something different like that, where did you get them? Ok, back to look over these amazing pics.. EM captured some AMAZING photos of y'all!!!! Eeeek! I'm so excited to have her shoot our wedding!!!!

Oh and btw, since you're all Dallas gals here I'll throw out a shameless little self promotion... We will be having an awesome Christmas show at our Art Gallery (Samuel Lynne Galleries - Dallas Art Gallery - 21st Century Art) I believe the first Saturday in December. Please come stop by and have a glass of wine and check out all the wonderful "miniatures" we'll have on display! Who knows - maybe you'll find your next Christmas present! For those of you who would like to come, make sure I know so that we can be "officially" introduced!

I'd totally be down for all of this! As for restaurants in downtown/uptown... Coalvine's is an AWESOME pizza place with great prices (you can share huge pizzas for $11-$16 bucks depending on what you get and they have excellent priced wine)... uhm, if you want Mexican you could always do Mattito's like Rachelle, Lisa and I did at our last meetup; that was fun! Let me know if y'all need more suggestions. I used to work in Uptown so I know the area well! OH - I also have a friend who is the events coordinator at Strong's in Uptown. Great atmosphere and great food! Really great margs too! If y'all are planning on bringing the guys you may want to consider a place like this where you can have someone looking out for you. OK - I demand another date pronto! LOL They'd better give me some good drugs after that surgery to help me forget what I'm missing out on! (Don't listen to me, I'm on my 3rd glass of wine )

Hi Geralyn, I am doing my TTD the evening after our wedding. A lot of girls on here like to do it early in the morning to catch the sunrise though. I know myself too well however, and knowing that I'll probably have a few drinks (or more than a few ) and being staying up pretty late the night before - I've decided to wait until SunSET to have my TTD photos done. I'm paying to have my photographer (Elizabeth Medina) stay with us an extra night simply because of this luxury! I want to lay in bed/chill around the hotel with my hubby the day after and not be rushed! Oh and I'm also paying for my hair/makeup person (who is a friend) to stay an extra night too in order to help me on that front. The wedding will be held Sunday evening and last into the night, and we will be having our TTD Monday at Sunset. Not sure if that helps, but that's our plans!
