Michelle - that's great!! Hoping our hotel will extend something like this. Seems like for some reason people on the RM (East) side are being way nicer and more understanding about traveler's/Brides hesitations - extending them extra services, lower rates, etc. Not that people on the PV (West) side are being the opposite ("mean or rude"), I just haven't heard much (at least on here) about their reaction to all of this...

I personally feel very sorry for Mexico, however as a U.S. bride I share mixed emotions, to be quite frank! I would certainly welcome any sort of extra hospitality offered to me at this point, and be extremely appreciative of it!!! Do you have your something blue yet? If so that could be fun! If not, totally rock the purple dyed shoes!! My vote is definitely for #1, I like that design the best I think whichever color you pick would be great. Rock it, chica!! -

Agreed, well said. I'll share an email with y'all from my friend (and hairstylist/makeup artist). It was really sweet and gets to the point of all this marriage stuff : Title: "I am here for you!" Quote: Hello Jaime, I received the message from S. (bridesmaid) about the postponed party.I am hope you are well and support your decision to take care of yourself.I want to assit you in any way to do that.I will contact S. to see how I can assit her in giving a great girlie party.Maybe a slumber party with yummy food and laughing and good ol' times like we did when we were kids.....and you will not be able to do once your married! You know I know that.Which brings me to something I want you to know and remember for the next few weeks as you are having to make difficult decisions.I know you have vested so much in your ceremony and everyone is so excited to witness and celebrate your union, however right here...right now you have everything. You have the perfect union. It's done. You have supportive family and friends.Every day we celebrate with you!I cannot expect you to understand.I would have not as a new bride myself. It is not about the ceremony. It is about now...today...and every step of the way....I asking you to have faith and believe as someone who took that journey and understands what is really important.Your week in Mexico is so important and I am so excited to be apart of it to witness you grow into a woman..a wife...what I am saying is you alraedy are.this is your journey and I am there for you as is everyone else.I will pray that the borders are not closed and our plans to celebrate will forge on.I will continue to pray for your health. In the meantime...you call me anytime, even if you just want to eat some good food..vent...cry ....or laugh..i am here. You know I am always for a good laugh.I love you, Jaime. So sweet! My sister whom I've not really spoken to in about 3-4 years (long story) also wrote me something similar about it just being a date on the calendar and it is what's truly in your heart that counts those many years later in a marriage. Very sweet of them both. I know it still sucks, but I think it helps to hear this from women who have been married. SO many people care about each and every one of us! And if for whatever reason plans fall through, it definitely does not mean they do not love us. I think a lot of people really feel for us in this uncertain time!

Wow, I'm just going to ignore that post - thanks girls for defending me, glad it got straightened out already! I think people that know me here (I've been around for over 2 years) know that I am not one to cause drama, I was just backing Des up - sometimes we feel good about that (when someone has our back), we all kind of take care of each other around here. Lord knows we don't need more drama at a time like this! I'll just assume it was a misunderstanding and move on! My mom has a friend that works for the CDC here in Atlanta and this guy said that my wedding in not an "essential" reason to travel to Mexico. WTF Oh gosh, I'm really sorry... I had planned for hardly anyone to show up - it came to the point where we just needed to make a decision one way or another, stick with that, put out positive energy and just see where things go! Certain things are just out of our control. I'd actually prepared myself for my Grandparents not wanting to come (totally understandable because of their ages) - they are like my parents (my Mom died when I was young and I lived with them for a long time - they helped raise me ). I will admit I avoided my Grandma for 2 days because I just wasn't ready to face it, but yesterday when I turned my attitude around and started working on my Visionary Board everything seemed to change - it happens from the inside out, right?! Today she is on board! I guess what I'm trying to say is do you think it will be OK for Y'ALL if it's just you and your parents?? Dig deep, and when you find the answer know that whatever you decide is OK. Maybe you can start working on your own visionary board? Just a suggestion... I know personally that has really helped me! Maybe cut out pics of your parents and you and FI and the amazing location.... I know I am feeling more and more grateful for each day and each happy moment. I truly believe things happen for a reason and that there are some good lessons for us all to learn from this! I can't explain why... I just feel it. We'll make it through, girls!!!

Are y'all still working on these?? I feel like things REALLY changed for me yesterday when I turned my attitude around. It has been so lovely gathering all these pics and seeing the smiling faces of friends and family enjoying our Engagement parties, as well of pics of us from our MX Engagement & other trips to Mexico (we've taken 4 together so far!). I need to get back to work on mine! Btw, we are putting all our pics together in a Word Doc so that we can send it on to friends and family to hopefully cheer them up also (trying to find a smiling pic of every guest who has booked!). I talked to my Grandma today and all she really talked about was what kind of shirt to get my Grandpa for the wedding! Made me feel SO happy Let's keep on working and sharing our positive energy through the process!

Yayyyy, good news. You know I'd been dreading calling my Grandma back. Well today I finally did and all she could talk about was if I liked this shirt @ Banana Republic for my Grandpa to wear!!! I've asked both my Dad & my Grandpa to walk me down the aisle (my Grandparents helped raise me and are totally my foundation in life!), so they need to wear shirts that match the theme. I've been so caught up in just getting myself there that I don't give a sh!t what they or anyone else wears anymore!!! LOL I'm SOOOOO happy And that news break about the 1957 virus being so similar totally helped them feel better. They're just worried about me now since my immune system is already compromised. I said I'm totally rocking the mask! They're wearing them too ~ I am TOTALLY cool with that!!! YAY, my goal was 5 people! My Dad is on, Martin and I are on and now my Grandparents seem to be on as well!!! I had totally prepared myself for the worst but things are looking up Seriously, as soon as I started to work on my Visionary Board yesterday everything turned around! Going back to work on it today!!!

I feel so bad, I've been avoiding my Grandma's phone calls... I just couldn't handle it, but I think I will call her today! Am I crazy?? Re: Bachelorette Party
JaimeLynne replied to JaimeLynne's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Hey ladies. Just wanted to update y'all - we went ahead and both decided to postpone our Bach. parties. It's just for the best right now. 1st with the drama and then with the Swine Flu B.S. My BM sent this out the other day which made me lol: Quote: Hello everyone, I am sorry to say that Jaime’s lingerie shower will be postponed. If something drastic changes I will let you know. As everyone knows (unless you have been living in a cave) the swine flu has really swept not only our nation but around the world. There are rumors that the Mexico borders might close…and as we all know that is where Jaime and Martin’s wedding is being held. Plus, we have to think of Jaime’s health right now. I would still like to do a dinner to have the chance where all of her girlfriends can celebrate her upcoming union by getting her drunk and giving her slutty clothes. I mean, as friends of the bride we still have a job to do. I will be in touch with an upcoming date. Something simple, maybe I can have everyone over to my house…we can cook and open gifts. Please feel free to email me with any good ideas of a time to do this. Thank you, S -

As of now we're on for our wedding next Saturday! I seriously doubt the US govt will issue a travel ban (the only way we won't go). And there's no way they're closing the borders...our economy would crumble to pieces. So all you late May and summer brides just keep your head's up! I have faith that this will all be fine in a week or two. Haha! There you are!! Sorry, couldn't remember your name! But wanted to give you some sorta credit!! THANKS for that btw!!!!!!!!!!! We basically share the same stance! GOOD LUCK chica! So sorry to hear about your MOH having to cancel but it sounds like it may be because she has a child, which I understand... still sorry though Oh and I think our t-shirts will read "Pigs Flu (flew), and Jaime & Martin got married. May 24th, 2009 at Las Caletas And YOU were there!" ... or something like that... doesn't quite make sense yet...
