  1. We flew US Airways and had no problems storing my gown and Jay's suit in the coat check. I did call ahead because I did not want any surprises. My bridal boutique gave me one of those white sturdy plastic garment bags so thats what I used. No 1st class upgrades or champagne for us though. It was just a pain to carry the gown through the airport and I was super glad the resort was steaming and ironing our wedding garments
  2. I'm on the weight watchers core plan which limits carbs to basiclly only one serving of whole grains, potatoes a day. One of our favorite fast meals for the summer is Chicken Cesar salad made with light Caesar dressing, precooked and sliced chicken, olives, grated parm cheese, and a Caesar kit. We add low fat croutons. I also love polenta (cornmeal). You can usually get a sausage shaped package in the vegetarian section. I slice it up and cook it in non fat cooking spray..have it with non fat low sugar pasta sauce or with salsa. And of course grilled foods like shish kebabs are made for the summer and low carb diets....yummy

  8. We got married at Dreams Tulum. Very kid friendly without losing a romantic getaway atmosphere. There is a kids club and family entertainment. The service and food was top notch. I definately recommend it.
  9. Definately get a detailed list of services and prices from your WC and go from there. And find out if there are extra charges for outsside vendors (day passes and such). I had my WC email me pics of the flowers included in our wedding package and I was very happy with them. My husband and I eloped so I was only concerned about my bouquet and Jay's boutinere (my spelling sucks..lol). If your'e doing a lavish affair, it may help to shop around for a florist. I definately would recommend getting an outside photog. We did and we got many more pics, a lower price and such beautiful pics by going with Vanessa Vargas! Have fun and hapy planning!
  10. I know that before I got married, I had a lot of questions regarding how getting married abroad would impact changing my name and if my marriage would even be considered legal in the US. I was getting a lot of mixed messages. Just wanted to share my experiance so as to answer any similar questions anyone might have. Jay and I got legally married in Mexico three weeks ago. And the marriage is considered legal in the US. Getting our birth certificates and my divorce decree authenticated by the county and apostilized by Dept. of State.was not a big deal. but we live in the capital of NY so the Dept. of State building is like 10 minutes from us. Getting the blood tests was easy and painless. Our WC arranged for us to have our blood tests done by a medic in her office. The instruments were sterile and the medic totally professional. We ordered 3 extra copies or our marriage certificate. We left the resort with a total of 4 copies of our marriage certificate and another certified marriage document that was translated into English. The marriage certs. were not translated or apostilized. I've been home 2 weeks and have about 75% of my name change stuff done. The only problem I ran into was DMV (New York State). Only US marriage certs. can be considered proof of identity. However if I bring in other forms of ID (SS card, utility bill, credit card, banking statement) with my new name on it I can get my license changed. Just got all the stuff I need so I'm headed to DMV this week. Granted a US marriage license is a lot cheaper and easier in some ways . However, I love having the Mexican license and feel that everything was well worth it. I'd imagine that other people might have different experiances depending on their state and where abroad you get married. But the whole name change thing was not as bad as I thought. I just think it's very cool that we're the only kids on our block with Mexican marriage licenses.
  11. Jay and I switch off with cooking duties. He is a really good cook. I love to cook too. We tend to enjoy a lot of Mexican inspired stuff and try cook light and low fat foods.
  12. I'm right there with you. It can be so hard to get going. Its so awesome that Jay and I belong to the same gym. I find the challenge is just getting to them gym. Once I'm there, I love it and I love the way I feel after. Thinking about how good I feel after I work out can motivate me too.
  13. Congratulations Erika!!!! Isn't that temporary engagement induced brain damage fun? I had no idea what Jay said to me. You must be soooo excited. Have you guys told your family yet? did they know ahead of time? How did he do it? Your ring is so beautiful!
  14. Wow! Its an honor just to be nominated. What a nice surprise. Super couple huh? Kind of like Brangelina or Tomkat.....hmmmm...Karson? Jaren? Thanks guys...this is very sweet.
  15. I think it's really important not to compromise your vision too much when picking your bridal dress. I know for me it was important to pick a gown that made me feel bridal yet was not too too formal for the beach. So I picked a gown from the Dessy Destination Wedding line. My gown was full length with a sweep train and it was no problem to move around in. Trying on dresses is key. Definately get the dress that makes you feel incredible.
  16. P.S. Thank you everyone for the good wishes and compliments. It certainly was the best day of my life and Dreams Tulum was a wonderful setting.
  17. I'm glad the review was helpful. thanks for the compliments. We booked a deluxe gadenview and got upgraded to what we believe was a dreams jr. suite with an ocean view. Jay requested the upgrade if possible prior to us going out there.
  18. It was just Jay and I at our wedding. As sure as I was about eloping, I was nervous about getting ready by myself and walking down the aisle by myself. But seeing him waiting for me knowing we were about to get married was one of the best moments of my life. Definately walk alone. It will be very romantic. I had 2 mimosas to fuel my walk. lol
  19. LOL. You are too funny. Jay plays playstation too....while he recites love poetry to me. lol. Only kidding. I hijack to say thanks for the sweet comments.

  22. Laura you are too sweet!! I loved meeting you guys too and felt like a stalker watching your wedding in my bikini and coverup. And you guys know you always have a home in Albany! Are you kidding about the necklace? I was in awe of it. From afar it looked like a custom sea pearl (you know what I mean) necklace!! That is so awesome!!! I was rocking the Claire's jewelry (bracelet) too! It was so awesome to meet another BDW bride and her hubby not to mention a great couple of people!
  23. I'm so glad the lil fella was wagging his tail and that the vomiting and diarhea has subsided. Poor baby. Definitely report this breeder to someone. This behavior is disgraceful!!!
  24. Laura, those pics are beautiful and I'm not just saying that because my husband took some of them. I absolutley loved your dress and necklace. And the pic of Jude was absolutely adorable. I really wish we could have had that drink together. Can't wait to see the rest of the pics!!!
