Kelly, Everton, Karen, & Jay meetup...and Liam too!
Karen replied to dragonfly's topic in Chit Chat Corner!
Those pics are too cute! Liam is just one of the cutest kids I've ever seen. Not only that but one of the best behaved kids. I couldn't get over how well he held it together. We were walking around for teensy bit before lunch and he saw all this fun kid stuff. Then we went in for a 3 hour lunch!!! Most kids would have a melt down. And he should model!!! so cute! -
If This is Your Second Marriage- Passport Question!
Karen replied to Martha's topic in Honeymoon Forum
I don't think I needed anything more than my driver's license and birth certificate. I bet the name history can be tracked under the ss #. My present passport is under my past married name. I haven't changed it to my new name yet. -
Yep! The hostess is providing the raviloi dough and press!!! We are just bringing our fillings and sauce!! It truly is the coolest thing ever. A bunch of women discussing food, cooking techniques, kids, and men while drinking wine and making food. I'm so excited!

The supper club hostess this month is very well to do and a gormet chef. She has a maxed out gormet kitchen that she just had put into to her basement complete with professional ravioli press. Sounds like a foodie paradise. I can't friggin wait! all the recipes you guys provided and the ones on line sound soooo good. gonna have a tough time narrowing it down.

What's your favorite date night (or day) activiity?
Karen replied to Karen's topic in Chit Chat Corner!
Lol! Kelly....so the sex in the backseat part of the date would be your low cost date idea? lol. Jay and I love going to Mass MoCa, a modern art museum in the Berkshires (Mass.). The drive there is so pretty at any time of the year. Viewing the art spurs lots of great conversations. I also love dress up night! OK not that kind of dress up. Every once in a while we will get dressed up (tight dress and heels for me) for either dinner out or a candle lit dinner in. And we love going to the free concerts and festivals in our area. -
Those recipes sound sooo good. thanks ladies!

I thought it would be fun to compile some fun and inexpensive date ideas. It will come in handy for newlyweds who just paid for a wedding or the soon-to be-weds who are paying for a wedding. Here is a cute article from The Nest. http://www.thenest.com/articles/arti...d=A60314130859

Hi Everyone! My supper club theme this month is Ravioli! Everyone is bringing a ravioli filling with a sauce that compliments it. I've been scouring the internet and my cookbooks. Just wondering if anyone has one to share. With the fall approaching, this is a great comfort dish. From my research thus far, I've seen that traditiional ravioli dough can be substuted won ton wrappers to make things easier. The sky is the limit with fillings. Right now, I'm considering pear and marscapone or goat cheese and herbs. And what a great date night idea! Raviloi making! A cold day...some good music and good wine..you and your and your honey being creative and making your own ravioli! I read on another forum that a couple did that and had a lot of fun. Jay and I love cooking and baking together. Well if anyone has a good recipe, I'd appreciate it.

Mind you a lot of these have taken a back seat to the wedding planning but now that I'm a newlywed, I'll definately be able to get back into this stuff. working out, running and training for races- I've been in a 5 k and a half marathon Any type of art making- drawing, painiting, crafting, etc. cooking and trying out new restaurants- I just joined a supper club a few months ago. there's a different theme every month. Everyone brings a dish associated with the theme and recipes for everyone. Next month, each person brings a ravioloi filling with a companion sauce. We are then going to press our own ravioli. I'm so excited!! traveling reading I want to take Spanish lessons and I'm a little embarrassed to say....but learn to ride a bike. i never learned. Jay is going to teach me so we can go on bike rides together.

Our TA arranged for free upgrades for us and Jay put in a request too. The worse anyone can say is no. I mean I was announcing to everyone I saw that I was getting married or that I was just married anyhow.

We had agreed not to do gifts because we were paying for everything ourselves. Neither one of us paid attention though. I got Jay a Skagen (sp?)watch with an engraved message to him. His ring is titanium so it can't be engraved. I just wanted to thank him for all the hard work he did in planning our day and i wanted him to have something on our wedding day that was engraved. Jay got me a beautiful one of a kind fresh water pearl necklace and earrings from a local and well known jewelry designer. We also exchanged cards that we opened on wedding day before the ceremony.

Karen replied to reneeny75's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
Are you meeting with the wedding planner when you do your site visit (aka vacation lol) next week at BBP? He/ She should be able to show you pics, show you ceremony sites on the property....you might even see a wedding. The Debbies dominican travel review page does have some good reviews up for BBP. -

Something Old, New, Borrowed and Blue

I made sure I had all this stuff on my first wedding so I figured if I did the opposite and didn't intenionally do it when I married Jay that it would bring me extra luck and ensure we have a happy long lasting marriage. Does that makes any sense? something new: dress, shoes, veil something borrowed: ? something blue: ? ummmm....Jay's beautiful blue eyes? something old: My Grandma's ivory beaded purse -
Is it bad if your fiance sees your dress?
Karen replied to Jenn3878's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Jay almost saw my dress the night before when it was delivered to the room after being pressed and steamed. He aswered our room door. I was in the bathroom. All of a sudden I hear..."I can't see that...Sweetie?" It was cute....he treated it like kryptonite. He so did not want to see it until I walked down the aisle. Personally, I'm traditional and love the anticipation so I would never show the dress. But like everything, it's personal preference. -

Did you see each other before the wedding?
Karen replied to rodent's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Our wedding was at 10 a.m. It was realy important to us to see each other for the first time when I walked down the aisle. The night before we had a romantic dinner at the french restaurant at Dreams. Then Jay walked me back to our room, where we exchanged wedding gifts. He then left for his separate rooom for the night. I liked having a little time to myself to reflect. I loved the drama of seeing him for the first time at the ceremony. But that's us. I say do what feels right to you and your FI. It doesn't matter what tradition or etiquette dictates. Your day is about the two of you. Sounds like alone time in the morning together would be very nice. Maybe mimosas on the beach? -

I had been a bit nervous and jittery a couple of weeks before the wedding. It had nothing to do with Jay or my feelings for him. I have always knew he was the one, the love of my life. It just had to do with being married before, knowing how serious and important marriage is and fears related to my first marriage falling apart. A friend of mine who had also been a 2nd time bride took me aside a week before the wedding and told me that everything I was feeling was so normal and that she could tell how much I loved Jay and how much he loved me. She said..don't worry..it will get worse and that she was a wreck when she got married but felt wonderful after. So here I am thinking "Great...I am going to be a nut on my wedding day and will need a bottle of booze...ugh" Jay and I had separate rooms the night before. I cried because I didn't want to be a loon on my wedding day. I must have prayed for like an hour asking God to please remove the looniness from me. I wanted Jay to have an excited happy bride not a nut. Then I fell asleep. I woke to the sun shining and just feeling so happy and calm. I had this feeling like I've never had in my life...absolute peace and certainy. It felt like my heart was wrapped in cashmere. I took little delays and mishaps in stride. I joked with everyone....had one cig and 2 mimmosas. I practically sprinted down the aisle because i just couldn't wait to marry Jay. The ceremony seemed to take forver even though it was just 15 minutes. I just wanted to be married and once we could kiss, I couldn't stop kissing my husband. This was the best moment of my life.
