  1. Aw, sorry to hear about the bad stuff. I hope you tell your travel agent that you will NOT be using her again!? All of it was out of your control and I think you have the right attitude. Just remember how beautiful and fun your wedding day was and the feel of the sunshine in Jamaica! Where did you honeymoon in Negril?
  2. Oh wow! I love how the red looks, love your veil! And I LOOOVE that you had sunglasses on your head for the ceremony, how much more beach wedding can you get!? It looks like you guys had a BLAST! Very happy for you! Your pics made me miss it again (like I do every day)! I so need to go bacK! What did you think of your overall experience?

However, the sky still does turn a lovely pink colour and you can get a great view of it setting behind the Blue Mountains behind the resort. Still very beautiful!
  4. Also, your tour provider should offer some pre-packaged tours as well. We just let our guests choose from which tours they wanted to go on. All were offered by our tour provider and all were excellent! There are shopping tours into Ocho Rios, tours to Plantations, tours to the Luminous lagoon near Montego Bay, and one we went on that took us all across the island and really gave us a good feel for Jamaica was a Black River safari tour which took us to the Appleton Rum Factory, YS Falls, and the Black River crocodile safari. It was really great but a long day of traveling. There are lots of options out there for your guests, they may want to make their own choice... but you could certainly look into putting together your own tour with Lee's as well!
  5. So I'm an idiot. I just went back a page and found the post. Off to look at your pics now!! ETA: Just looked at them, they are great!! We had similar colours and beach gazebo decorations didn't we? I cant believe we never ran into eachother that week. I think I'm in the pool where you have your balcony pics! hee hee! Aw, such good times! your pics are beautiful!
  6. Chicago did you post more pics I'm confused! If you did I want to see them!!
  7. I brought 44 travel mugs and various other items for welcome bags to Jamaica and they would have been worth approximately $500. So I did write $500 on the Customs form and when we entered Jamaica she just asked me if they were gifts and would I be giving them to individuals and the individuals would then be taking them home with them? I said Yes, and she waved me through. I think they are getting REALLY used to this with the amount of Jamaican weddings, so just be honest and you should be fine! Hope that helps!
  8. So excited for you Heidi! I hope you have the wedding you've dreamed of! You will have such a wonderful time!

  10. Yes! I felt the exact same way! About a week before the wedding it hit home that is was all actually GOING TO HAPPEN and all the plans were going to come together whether I was ready or not. I worried about every little thing, wanting all the guests to get there safely, everyone to be happy. I actually burst into tears when the plane touched safely down in Montego Bay and I saw the palm trees! I was a bit of a wreck! But the day of the wedding I woke up eerily calm and cheerful and the day was everything I could have imagined, so I hope the same thing for you! Just make sure to slow down, breathe, and soak in and ENJOY every moment because it all goes so fast!
  11. Congratulations Mo, that's wonderful news!! So very happy for you! Let us know what your hubby's reaction was!
  12. We were married in Feb 08 and just paid the $250 which included the minister's fees! Also received two free bottles of champagne and free rum punch! Our cake was upgraded to a 2 tier cake which was enough for 40 guests and I dont BELIEVE we paid for that either, but I didnt receive an itemized receipt so I can't be sure. Hope that helps!
  13. No, I had the DJ at the disco and the price was added into the total fee I paid to Chandlyn. I did give him a cash tip though!

If you wanted to request a different song they could probably accomodate you but you might want to check in advance.

  17. Hi everyone! Just wondering if all you wonderful creative ladies might be able to help me out with some ideas for ice-breaker games at our AHR? I am thinking of playing some games to get our guests more into the party mood and mingle a bit more with eachother. We're having a beach/tropical/Jamaica theme so it would be really great if I could think of a game to incorporate the theme, I am thinking something involving Bob Marley songs, or maybe making someone wear a rastafarian hat.... any ideas?

  19. The ladies at the resort spa really are excellent!!
  20. Thanks for the suggestion! I am now thinking of bumping everything up by half an hour. I think we'll play Bob Marley music as background music until dancing starts too!
  21. One of my bridesmaids is of mixed ethnicity, and she was sooo happy with the way her hair was done at the resort! She always says no one in Canada knows how to handle her hair! Her makeup was done by Nicole as well, she looked great, here's her pic:
  22. Aww, it's such an honour to be nominated!!
  23. I thought it might be nice to see people's ideas for decorating their AHR, their plans, and a place to post photos once the AHR has happened! I am trying to come up with some cute beach-y centrepiece ideas right now for mine, here is some inspiration I've found so far: I'll keep looking and post more, but please feel free to post your own!
