I would think that they would pay for the rehearsal dinner in Cabo as well. It serves the same purpose no matter what country it is in. And $24 a person(at Dreams) is not alot of money. If you go into town it will be more expensive. Just see if she has a price limit. If it goes over, then you just pay the difference. But I think it is only right that all of your guests be invited. It is like expressing appreciation for their presence at your DW.

Now to respond to the rehearsal dinner question. It is "traditional" for the brides parents to pay for the wedding reception and the groom's parents to pay for the rehearsal dinner. Usually the rehearsal dinner only consists of the members of the wedding party and their significant other, readers, singers, etc but with a DW I think it is etiquette/proper to invite all your guests since they paid alot of money to share the day with you. Today, since weddings are so darn expensive, I think both parents usually contribute some money to the occasion. My first wedding, my parents and my ex's parents both gave us money and we payed the rest ourselves. This time around, my mom isn't giving my squat so it is up to us. My fiance's dad offered to pay for the rehearsal dinner as well as anything else we needed help with, so I am going to take him up on it. It really depends on the family/person and how much they want to contribute to the occasion. My suggestion is take every penny you are offered. Weddings are not cheap, not even DW ones. I chose a DW the second time around thinking it would be inexpensive and I was wrong.

We liked the bonfire because it's casual... but it is not less expensive. It is the same quoted ($24pp) price. Yes, traditionally the groom's parents pay for this. Money can be a sensitive issue, I would let them bring it up if they want to pay, otherwise expect to fork over the dough yourself (IMO) . Courtney - I will be doing my site visit the same few days as you. I fly into Cabo on July 28th and am there til August 1. We should meet there:) It would be fun. I have a question for you about the bonfire. I thought Riu was the only place that did it. Did you need a minimum amt of people to get that? Yessica is my WC. I'll have to ask her about it..

Misc Cabo pics - after the wedding
olisa6 replied to A10CalGal's topic in Destination Wedding in Cabo
I can see them as well and the beach is gorgeous. So is the church. I can't wait til my wedding in cabo:) -
I am getting legally married in Cabo and am not using an outside coordinator. But Yessica, the Dreams resort WC, is setting all of that up for me. So my guess is that maybe the WC at Fiesta Americana can do that for you as well?

So my ceremony is from 5:30 - 6. Pictures and cocktail hour is 6 - 7. Reception is 7 - 10. If it changes on Oct 28th, then I should be good.

Jen everything looks beautiful. I loved the pic of the dresses because I have the same color. It was nice to see it against the ocean background. Where did you have the reception? Cascada terrace or Oceana? Also who did the Luminares? I loved the set up. Hopefully you will have this all in your review and I'll jsut get the answers from that. You looked gorgeous and very happy. The more pics I am seeing, it really makes me happy I chose Dreams over Riu.

Thanks for the list of restaurants/bars. I am doing a site visit in July and will probably go to a few clubs and restaurants during that time to check out the scene so I can tell my guests where to go. I've heard alot of good reveiws ont this forum about Sunset da MonaLisa. I'll have to check it out when I am there. Thanks for the info!!

Yessica is my WC at Dreams and it takes her about 2 days to respond to my e-mails. I figure that there are weddign there every week and they are very busy sitting down with the brides all week long. Plus if I had a question I needed answered right away, I just posted it on this forum and it was answered in about 10 seconds. Thanks girls!! I would have went crazy without any of you:)

I haven't been to either place to see it for my own eyes and my heart was set on Riu for any vacation that I was going to take to Cabo. Then after reading about the rooms, it seemed they only had three options and I have family coming down with three people to a room in some cases. The pics looked like the bathroom was open. It just seemed that the RIU was designed for adults only but I LOVE the fact there are 4 bottles of alcohol in the room for you at the RIU:) But the main reason I chose Dreams is because the reps at Dreams were responding to my e-mails. The Rep at RIU took weeks to respond back to my requests for packages, pics of recent weddings and any other questions I had. It seemed like they did not want to be bothered until you actually booked. Plus it was much more expensive to have a wedding there. I also like the setup of the pool at Dreams. My friends that are all coming are all about partying but it doesn't have to happen at the resort. I figured, each town is only a 20 minute cab ride from Dreams and if my guests want to party, we can all go into town to Cabo Wabo and have a great time.

For those of you from CA. and got legally married in Cabo
olisa6 replied to DreaW's topic in Destination Wedding in Cabo
From what I have read and have been told, they look for Aids and Syphallis)however you spell that). I have not been told they look for any other STD's or pregnancy etc.. But it does not matter since you are getting married in CA beforehand, but may be useful for anyone else reading this. -
Sarah & Jeff slideshow (trash the dress photos)
olisa6 replied to JUANCARLOST's topic in Cabo Wedding Vendors
Sara, these are awesome as well. I saw the postings on youtube and you look like you had a wonderful time. I hope my day is just as beautiful. So I have a quick question about The trash the Dress session. Is this a Cabo thing? I have never heard of it before this forum? Is it a good luck thing? -
Have fun Jen and relax all week. Good luck on the wedding day and I'm sure it will be all that you expected it to be and more!! Can't wait to read all about it.

Thanks for sharing Sarah. It was nice to see what Dreams looks like since I have not been there yet. That dance with your dad brought tears to my eyes because my father passed away 7 yrs ago. I will not have that special moment but it was nice to see what it would have been like. You looked absolutely gorgeous and it did seem like the perfect day. Hopefully mine will go as smoothly.

For the ceremony and cocktail hour I want either a trio or a mariachi band. Not really sure what the difference is. My friend says that the mariachi bands are the guys that serenade you. If this is the case, then I don't want that. Either way, I'd like to know who used a trio or mariachi band and the price of them and what company. Also did you like them? Any experiences would be helpful.

Wow they look awesome. I can't wait to see the Honeymoon suite:)

Anyone ever been in cabo for cinco de mayo?
olisa6 replied to ajncooter's topic in Destination Wedding in Cabo
I never knew that. I always thought it was a Mexican holiday. Not that I'll be in Cabo during that time, but its good to know! -
Tammy - Did you use them for a sunset cruise? It's really cheap for open bar too. The prices I've received are about $45 - $55 a person.
-
Well I still can't perform the action but I was able to right click on it and save it to my computer. So I can view it that way. I jsut can't click on the file and open it. Either way, I got it and it looks awesome. Thanks for the format...

How many do you need to view a doc?
-
[email protected] is the e-mail I use to communicate with Yessica. Hope that helps..

seems like they up the price $2 every year. It was $20 last year, $22 this year and $24 next year.. doesn't the fee include the linens? If you get linens separately, you still need to pay the set up fee, right? Or is the set up fee waived if you use an outside company?

it says I don't have enough points to view the letter... oh well.
