  1. I think it will depend on how many people we end up with. I'm thinking of using the Club Tower Lobby/Terrace area, my only concern with that is where we'd put the dance floor. They'd probably have to clear some tables after dinner. And, I'm not sure how many people they can accomodate in that area. My second choice would be the garden area. That was the set-up we saw when we were there. Very pretty. I think the sand reception is beautiful too, but I don't know how practical it is for a large group. Have you decided yet?
  2. I think we'll have 60-80 people, depending on if our single friends and family bring dates. We already have 55 confirmed and the wedding isn't until October. I'm excited to have a lot of people...but it also makes everything more expensive. I contacted two photographers, Michael Maurus and Claudia. I heard back from Michael and his prices seem comparble to the larger photo packages offered by Dreams. I wonder how it works if we choose not to use their photographer. Are we credited? Can we put in towards extra flower/decorations? Same with the videographer. Thanks for sending the attachments and the ticker 411!
  3. I have attached (I think) some additional pics in a Word Doc. My parents were at Dreams Cancun the last week of Feb. They saw two weddings. One was very small, with a beach reception. The other was 50-60 people, with a tower lobby/terrace reception. My mom thought this was a very nice set-up as the tower lobby is completely open to the terrace. It was very windy while they were there, and this way people could eat out of the wind. The pics were taken during set-up, before all decor was complete, but at least you can kind of get an idea of some options. Hope this helps, Susan

  6. One more thought.... How do you think we'd plug out iPods into their system? I was also thinking about doing it from a laptop. Probably would be best to have a tech saavy guest, who doesn't mind, in charge of the music. I still think I'd like a microphone too. What is everyone's plans for introduction, first dance, bouquet and garter tosses? Is anyone doing those things?
  7. Thanks for the tip. I e-mailed the photographer/videographer you suggested to check for availability. The website was impressive. Have you heard much about the photographer/videographer that is included in the "Ultimate" package? Do they have a website? As far as reception sites go. When we were there vacationing last October, we saw a reception set up in the garden area. Beautiful! I actually found picture of that very wedding on the web. Check out www.honeymoongiveaway.com Click on "Photo Gallery" and then "Dreams Cancun". Scroll to the bottom. Also, my parents were just there this past week checking the place out. They met with Claudia and also saw two weddings while they were there. One reception was on the beach. My mom said it was very windy that day and figure the guest were eating as much sand as they were dinner. The second reception was on the terrace. She thought this was beautiful and loved the tiki torches. I'm deciding between the terrace and the garden...waiting to see my mom's pics. I'll try to post them if I can figure out how!
  8. Hi everyone! I found some good pics of the garden set-up. I couldn't believe it when I saw these pics. They are from the wedding that we saw when we were there last October vacationing. We weren't engaged at the time, but after seeing this wedding, we knew there was no other place we'd rather be for our day! The bride's dress was gorgeous. Check it out. The website is www.honeymoongiveaway.com Click on "Photo Gallery" and then "Dreams Cancun". The best pics are towards the bottom. Hope this helps! Susan
  9. Is anyone doing a video with Claudia? Have you received any price quotes? Do they do digital photography? Thanks for the help!
  10. Hi! I just joined the site! We're getting married at Dreams Cancun in Oct. and are just starting the planning process. Saw a wedding their last October (before we were engaged) and just loved it. From reading the posts, it seems like most are hiring an outside photographer. Has anyone found someone they really love? Do they have a website I could check out? I really want some great pics and video to show at the reception we'll have in our hometown when we get back. My other concern is the music/dancing. I have a lot of pretty rowdy friends and family coming, and we all love dancing. I'm wondering how the DJ is, or if it would be possible to bring our iPod and do music that way. Any ideas? Thanks!
  11. Hi everyone! I'm Susan. My fiancé and I are getting married at Dream Cancun on Oct. 12, 2007! We were there last October (before we were engaged) and saw a breathtaking ceremony and reception. When the ring came in Jan., we both knew we had to go back to Dreams! We are expecting 50+ guest and really want to do something memorable. I love the idea of a destination wedding. I have been to several "traditional" weddings in the past couple of years, and while they were all very nice, it seemed like they were all over so fast. All the time and stress that went into the planning process, and then like Cinderella, at the stroke of midnight, it was all over. I really look forward to being able to spending time with our guests. What a perfect opportunity to get all your friends and family together to meet, catch up, and vacation together. I look forward to swaping ideas and experiences with other Dreams Cancun brides! I'm so excited!!! Does anyone have any color suggestions? I was thinking a blue color would look nice with the surroudings, but I'm open to pretty much anything (except red )
