  3. I second the "Outback Safari excursion" it was amazing. You really get to see Dominican life and get a sense of the culture. You ride around in a truck and you don't have to walk or hike at all - you go to several locations. You go to a home, see some farms, then have then have great dinner, relax in some hammocks, go to some local shops. It ends in this amazing swim on the beach. They serve drinks the whole time and it was a ton of fun. Outback Safari Adventure Tour in Bavaro, Punta Cana and Puerto Plata - Dominican Republic
  4. Wow you look stunning. What a beautiful wedding, love the colors of your traditional wedding attire along with the colors of the destination.
  5. Dreams has a cleaner, more private beach ceremony location than the Bahia Principe. Also the Bahia Principe Gazebo location is on a tram route which comes by during the ceremony.
  6. Thanks Everyone! I haven't been on for a while but I saw a couple of new posts to my first message from last year. Just wanted to let you know that our travel expense only offer is no longer valid however you can contact us for reasonable package and travel pricing for destination weddings. Also, we have been doing tons of boudoir this year and have just launched our new women's blog: taitboudoirblog.com
  7. Good tips. Also I would recommend having someone at your wedding in charge of politely asking topless guests to move when standing 5 feet away from you during your vows! Sol did you announce your photographer yet? I am hoping for Jessica Claire Also saw Matt's video on Simple Photo Minute, really cool!
  8. I think its worth it! That dress looks awesome on you. It's so unique yet classy. I think it is very flattering and love that it has a sexy feel without being strapless. I love the lace too, my dress had similar lace.
  9. Sorry! Didn't know it was spam to offer something for free. Thanks to the people who have contacted me about it. The offer has now expired. Thanks!
  10. We had a wine ceremony. We chose a 2 handled silver cup which is called a loving cup to share the wine from. The loving cup has various historial meanings but it mostly for the B&G to share their first drink together and symbolizes the joining of 2 families. Our officiant used a modified version of the text below. We chose to do this ceremony because we are both wine lovers, and wine was a theme of our wedding and we had corks for placecard holders etc. It is nice that we now have an engraved silver wine cup that we will pass on to our children. Text: "The years of life are as a cup of wine poured out for you to drink. This Loving Cup contains within it a wine with certain properties that are sweet and symbolic of happiness, joy, hope, peace, love and delight. This same wine also holds some bitter properties that are symbolic of disappointment, sorrow, grief, despair, and life's trials and tribulations. Together the sweet and the bitter represent "Love's Journey" and all of the experiences that are a natural part of it. For all who share the wine from this Loving Cup, so may you share all things from this day on with love and understanding. Those who drink deeply from the Loving Cup with an open heart and willing spirit, invite the full range of challenges and experiences into their being for themselves and the Bride and Groom. Minister pours wine into the Loving Cup and holds it up. This cup of wine is symbolic of the cup of life. As you all share the wine from the Loving Cup, you undertake to share all that the future may bring. It represents the blessing given and passed on to each participant in this ceremony. All the sweetness life's cup may hold for each of you will be the sweeter because you drink it together. Whatever drops of bitterness it may contain will be less bitter because you share them. Drink now, and may the cup of your lives be sweet and full to running over."
  11. I would take any request for money to the corporate headquarters of the hotel. I think that is some cases, the fees are not the policy of the hotel, but the policy of someone onsite who will pocket the money rather than it being a legitimate fee paid to the resort. One of my clients was required to pay cash, I think that is a red flag for this practice, if it is a real fee it should be added to the invoice with all of the other wedding services and able to be paid with credit card. I do know it to be the case with Sandals Turks & Caicos resort and possibly all Sandals resorts that they do not allow outside photographers but it can be arranged for a bride to pay a fee of about $350 which covers their loss. This is not a cash only situation mentioned above, but a recovery from them not being able to make money on this service. Sandals has bought a turnkey photo printing service from Kodak to process their images and may be using point and shoot cameras for the images. Outside wedding videography is still permitted at this point probably because they haven't yet figured out how to make it efficient and profitable.
  12. I wonder if an inkjet will give you more accurate colors? I have an Epson R220 and think it is a great printer for under $100. I *think* lasers are better for character/text quality and inkjets are better for color. I did all my invitations, programs, save the dates, you name it with my little Epson printer. I also like this printer because you can print directly on CDs (for labels) which is pretty cool.
  13. I like to call this type of work Lifestyle sessions, so you may want to search for a photographer with that term. Also you may find photographers who can do this as an engagement session. Some nice places to go for your shoot may be the spot of your first kiss, your first date, or where he proposed. It's nice to be somewhere special where memories come back and you can re-live the special moments.
  14. Thanks for the information I had been looking for the rules. Thanks for allowing us to participate! Erica
  15. I think there is one price for the Professional Photographer (first column) and a higher price for the Master Photographer (second column). This could be a good option for you though if you can get some things clarified. Make sure that everything you agree upon with the photographer is written in the contract. This could be a reputable photographer, or it could also be someone who will hold your images hostage until you pay them what you want, so it is always best to get everything in writing. Are they associated with the hotel or independent? I am not sure why some photographers put a specific number of images in a package (Leigh, do you know why they do this? I only really see it in destination packages) Also ask them to see a complete wedding from both the Professional and Master photographer and also make sure the images you see are those of the photographer who will be there to photograph your wedding. In this case, you may also want to ask for references. If you can find out what album company they are using, we can probably tell you more about the quality. An Asukabook album, for example, may be worth $400, but an album picked up at walmart with the images taped in would not. Also ask whether the 40, 80 or 120 photos is everything they shoot or after editing out the bad ones.

  17. Hello everyone! I just got married on October 8, 2006 to a wonderful and supportive man. It was a perfect wedding and married life has been great. I have been doing wedding photography for the past few years and now I am full time and loving it. If you are interested in viewing my site please go to Tait Photography You can also view my beach destination website which is currently a work in progress, but I will be adding to it soon: US, Canada and International Destination Wedding Photography Most of the photos on my DW site were taken in Cabo in conjunction with a workshop I just returned from by the fabulous DW photographers Jessica Claire & Liana Lehman. I live half the year in the Washington DC area and half the year in British Columbia. My husband and I were living full-time in Northern Virginia until he took a temporary job in Nelson. My husband is Canadian and I am originally from the US. I love Nelson and now we are close to his family, but also love my family and miss my sister who are all in states. Luckily I travel back and forth a lot. Currently I am considering doing a free destination wedding and day-after shoot, possible engagement as well in the month of April (client to pay travel expenses only for 2 photographers). Contact me if interested [email protected] Please let me know your wedding date, location, where you are from, and why you would like me to photograph for you as well as a snapshot of you and fiance. Would like someone who is ok with getting partly in the ocean with their dress on the day-after (underwater pool photos would be cool too!). I hope to find someone who really loves photos and wants to take a lot of them! Thanks for reading, I am really excited about this board and hopefully I will be able to contribute about wedding planning, marriage, photography, and weddings abroad.
