  1. Congratulations Ashley, for three reasons. That you are getting married, you chose Dreams and you have Yarai as your WC. Yarai is a pro and a stickler (funny word) for details. As are Mariana and David who also do weddings at Dreams. I always ask my couples about their experience at their chosen hotels/villas and Cabo in general. Dreams consistently gets very positive comments. You will be well looked after.
  2. Here is the link to Lunas De Fuego web site here in Cabo. Enjoy.
  3. I can help Lee Lee but first a few questions to focus in on some good choices. Where are you staying? How many people for the dinner? Is there a preference for cuisine other than taco bar? Will they want to go to any clubs/entertainment after dinner? Time?
  4. The three wedding planners at Dreams are Yarai, Mariana and David and all three of them are excellent wedding planners. They are usually very busy leading up to and during the weekends but they will respond. I have shot many weddings at Dreams and I always ask my couples about their Dreams experience from wedding planners to restaurants and everything in between. To date the feedback has been 100% positive. You have picked a great place to have your wedding. Here is a link to some revealing virtual views (360) of Dreams Los Cabos.
  5. The three wedding planners at Dreams Los Cabos are Yarai, Mariana and David. They have all been at the resort for quite some time and are VERY good at their jobs.
  6. If you check this list for Cabo local photographers it would be a good start. Todos Santos (great place) is about 1.5 hours away.
  7. Tammy offered some great advice about Dreams Wedding Planners. I have worked with Yarai, Yesica and Marianna the Dreams WP's and they are some of the best hotel WP's in Cabo. I always feel they have the clients best interest in mind. If you feel you need an 'outside' WP there are many fantastic ones doing great work here in Cabo.
  8. Firstly I want to thank the many brides from this forum who have chosen me as their wedding photographer. Rather than talk about myself I would prefer that you read an email from Lori and Ryan. I recently shot their rather large and wonderful wedding here in Cabo. It is the voices of the brides that guide me to being a better photographer. We are LOVING every picture! Thank you so much for taking amazing pictures of our wedding day! We originally chose you based on your style and creativity....we could actually feel the emotion of other people's weddings by looking at their pictures on your website. Not only did you capture the emotion of our day, you did it with a fantastic creative twist that we love! Our friends and family also commented on your casual, professional demeanor during the day....blending in as if you were a guest. Thanks again for everything! We come to Cabo often...we'll look you up next time we're in town! Lori and Ryan Demirdjian My style has been described photo journalistic and spontaneous. You can check out my web site here. Saludos!
  9. From the Photographers point of view. I have photographed at both and... Melia ME in Cabo San Lucas is the clear winner in my opinion. For the record there are two Melia's. One in the corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose called the Melia Cabo Real (all-inclusive) and the Melia ME on Medano Beach (not all-inclusive) in Cabo San Lucas.
  10. I just measured the distance on Google Earth and the distance on the highway between The Marquis and Cabo Surf is 5 miles. I would NOT avoid San Jose del Cabo as it is a very cool colonial town and a world apart from from Cabo San Lucas. I live on the beach just outside of San Jose and pass through everyday with little traffic issues. Yes renting a car is probably your best option but if you will only be venturing to the Cabo Surf a few times I would taxi. The bus is frequently infrequent but cheap ($1.50).
  11. Does Mandy have her own company in Cabo or does she work with one of the local Wedding Planners?
  12. Congratulations! Everything else aside (from a photographers perspective) I would choose The Marquis hands down. I have shot at both hotels. The Marquis will offer many photo-ops and there is quick access to an ample sized beach with great light.
  13. I live and photograph weddings here in Cabo (lucky me) and mosquitos have NEVER been an issue at a wedding any month of the year.
  14. I live and photograph weddings here in Cabo. I continue to photograph weddings at both Rui Palace and Santa Fe, one as recently as last Wednesday at the Palace. The 'vendor fee' is $100 at the Palace and $75 at the Santa Fe. To make it easier for couples booking non-resort photographers I pay half the fee and look after all the arranging for you.
  15. For a unique private cruise you might want to try the Talofa. It is a 100 foot Tallship built in the early 1900's in San Francisco berthed in the Cabo San Lucas Marina at a private dock. Here in the link.
  16. The official answer is that any outside vendor wanting to work in Mexico requires working papers. To my knowledge the Canadian based photographer you fancy could not go and work in the U.S.... same with Mexico. I understand your penchant for wanting to bring down 'your own' photographer but you need to be mindful of the pitfalls. A blind eye has been turned up until now but I don't know how long that will continue as Immigration tightens up because of the economic turn. There are some fantastic photographers (videographers, wedding planners, officiants, florists, deejays, caterers, musicians etc.) right here in Cabo that have local knowledge that is advantageous for you... for your wedding photography.. for your peace of mind. Cabo has it all! Here is a link that lists many of those photographers. I did not post this reply to draw attention to myself as a photographer but rather to continue to give a voice to the great local talent.
  17. I can help on this one as I live here and I dive. I have done quite a bit of diving in Belize (Caribbean) and loved the reefs and clear vis there. I have not been thrilled with the dive sites here in Los Cabos. Most if not all the local diving is done in the Sea of Cortez and not the Pacific. Depending on the time of year visibility will vary but it is not the Caribbean. If you are getting married in PV you should check out Belize for diving if that is the focus.
  18. Here is a link for some fabulous local photographers. There are MANY reasons for going local, the least of which we are all legal.
  19. To answer your question Signature Weddings is Sarai Flores. I photograph weddings at Palmilla One and Only and that is where I first met Sarai where she was one of the best WC's. I continue to do weddings with her and Sarai is a class act with tons of local connections.
  20. It is now 12:24 p.m. on Saturday, October 11th in Cabo and the center of the storm is hitting the coast about 130 miles north of here. At the moment here it is a little gusty and no rain. Looking at the sat image I suspect we will be back to our sunny sky's and possibly cooler weather by tomorrow. It's all good here.
  21. I have been following both of these storms; Hurricane Norbert and Tropical Storm Odile. I have been here for 9 years and through a few hurricanes and what I know is that I don't know. You never really know where and how it will land until it is approx. 48 hours away from you. That is when all the models tend to get accurate. For those of you with weddings this weekend (Oct. 10.11.12) follow Norbert. For those of you with weddings next week keep your eye on Odile. I have found that WunderGround and specifically this link is the best source of reliable information. My fingers and crossed that they both pass with minimum effect.
  22. The link above is the most current for most of the local Cabo photographers. It was last updated July 15th.2008.
  23. I just did yet another wedding with DJ Mijares last night at Dreams and once again he was fantastic. He played acoustic guitar on the beach, electric guitar with backing band tracks (computer) at the cocktail schmooze and then DeeJay'd at the reception. Did I mention he was also the MC? There are some great DJ's here in Cabo and Mijares is one of the them.
  24. I live here and at the moment the days are reaching 100. But I like the heat. Without a doubt of the three months... it is June. If you like the heat (85+ everyday) then July. And if your preference is heat and humidity that leaves you with August.
