How have you prepared for for the SATC premiere?
amym567 replied to jamisoncollette's topic in Random Thoughts
My SIL is having 5 girls over for dinner, drinks, and the SATC game (which she borrowed from me~ she and my bro bought it for me, but it has yet to be played), then they're going to see the movie. Me, I will be home with my 1 week and 1 day old son, whom I can't seem to leave yet! I'll see it one of these days! Amy -
Thought I'd share these pix that Kevin's cousin's fiance took. Proud Daddy! And I LOVE this one! It's the Grandma's hand that's in the pic on the first page! Love how you can see the age difference by looking at their hands, and the content look on Austin's face!

I need to be careful not to overdo it since I am feeling so good! Amy

I was concerned at first, but it went really smoothly! You're getting close!! Good luck! Amy

Austin Michael arrived on Thursday at 5:01 p.m.! He weighed 7 lbs. 14 3/4 oz. (now he weighs 7 lbs. 3 1/2 oz.) and he is 20 1/2 inches long. We are so happy with our new baby!!!! He is a very good sleeper so far, hardly ever cries, and is doing really well with breastfeeding. I had to be at the hospital to be induced on Thursday at 6 a.m. They estimated him to weigh 8 lbs. at my appt. the week before, and because of having gestational diabetes, they knew he could be very big. At my appt. last Tuesday, I was dialted to 2, my cervix was soft, and he was 50% effaced. I was in labor from 9:00 until about 3:30. All was going well until his heart rate started to go down when I was having contractions. I was dialted to about 7 or 8, but he wasn't continuing to drop. The doctor decided at about 4:00 that I needed to have a C-section. They wheeled me into the operating room around 4:45, prepped me, brought Kevin in, and he was born only 16 minutes later!!! I couldn't believe how quick it was! It was so nice to hear that cry!!! They found out the reason his heart rate was going down was because the cord was wrapped around his neck and his leg. We are SOOO blessed to have our beautiful baby boy! We get to go home tomorrow, and we are so ready! I just had to share some pix of BDW's 2nd baby of the week! The new family with Great Grandma! Amy

I will more than likely sign on to the forum though. Do you already have a sub lined up? Are you still working? When do you get out of school? My kids' last day is Tuesday, and report card pick-up is next Thursday. That's why I need them in by Tuesday. Amy

I'm thinking I'll want my own, with a back to it! I went to Motherhood last weekend, and got this one: Motherhood Maternity Clothes - Affordable Maternity Clothing and Accessories, I like that it has a robe with it! I also got one like the one you posted (but in blue polka dots), and a gray one I didn't see online. A few weeks ago, I picked up a couple of pajama "sets"- so I'll have something decent once we're home if people come over. One of them is this one: Motherhood Maternity Clothes - Affordable Maternity Clothing and Accessories. I just can't believe that I'm going to be a mommy tomorrow!!!! Amy P.S. Hoping the majority of the grades will be done today! I'm thinking Kevin might give me a hard time about the laptop (although if he gets bored sitting there at some point (since he's so ADHD!), he might appreciate being able to look at boats (his fav online activity!). I'll go with that justification when I say we should pack it!

Thanks for all of the replies! Ann~ how funny you responded! After your experience, I am lucky that I can think this through and pack what I want to! Jenn~ his name is Austin Michael. SO many people have said the pillow thing! I don't consider myself a "picky pillow person", but I think we'll take them and have them in the car just in case we want them. Found some slippers today to fit my huge feet (which better go down REAL soon!). I'm dialated to 2, and will be induced Thursday morning at 6:00 a.m. That is, if he doesn't come tonight! After having the exam today, I've been having more Braxton-Hicks, and some other "weird" feelings going on! He'll be 1 day shy of 38 weeks. I'm starting to get a little nervous, but not as much as I though I would be at this point. I think it will hit me when I get to the hospital! Nobody mentioned bringing the laptop~ thinking HARD about that one! May need to bring it just to finish report card grades!!! I'm sure the hospital has wireless! Amy

I am! This August will be 2 years that I've been selling. In fact, I was just going to close a show, but stopped here first! I love it! Amy

Well, last week's ultrasound had him measuring around 8 lbs. Because of my gestational diabetes (and my husband being 10 1/2 lbs. when he was born), we knew he'd probably be big. I guess with the GD, there's a liklihood of bigger shoulders. That would mean a definate C-Section, and I think my doctor's trying to avoid that. I don't know if I've mentioned that I've been off of work since April 28th because of EXTREME swelling in my feet/ankles/calves. My mom said if you didn't see above my knees, you would think that I weigh 300 pounds. I'm SO ready to have my own legs back! I'd take the GD anyday over these legs!!! Amy

SOOO glad to hear that Mommy and Baby Gwendolyn are doing great! Austin and I might just be joining their club this week! There may be 2 BDW babies by the end of this week! Amy
-
So, tomorrow the doctor is going to see if I'm dialated, and I'll probably be induced Thursday or Friday. I've packed my bag and the baby's bag, but just wondered if there was something you wish you would've had with you at the hospital, or if you overpacked. Any advice on this would be appreciated! Thanks! Amy

Jessica~ I've been on 3 Carnival cruises and always had a great time! It is a younger crowd, but not the spring break type (and I always went on spring break since I teach). The first 2 were the same ship and stops~ that's how much I loved the ships and ports- St. Thomas, Martinique (the first year) and Dominiqua (the second year), Barbados, and Aruba. I didn't care for Martinique or Dominiqua, but we just got off for a little while, then spent the day on the ship. Flew into Puerto Rico for these 2. The 3rd time, we flew to Miami, and stopped at Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Belize, and Costa Maya. Loved that one too! Let me know if you have any questions! Amy

Happy Mother's Day Mommies and Mommies-to-be!!!! I got a "Mommy-to-be" card from my SIL and one from Dad and Step-Mom with $30 that I'm SUPPOSED to spend on myself (since they know I've been buying for the baby lately!!!). My mom is working out of town, but said when she comes home this week she's taking my SIL and me grocery shopping for Mother's Day! That will be nice to stock up on frozen dinners for when the baby comes and I don't want to cook! Hope everyone had a great day! Amy
