I can relate! My future Mother in Law has tried to remind countless times that not many people will be attending you wedding and I have gotten so sick of it that I flat out said "I do not care if anyone comes-this is our special day." Anyway, she has not said another word to us and is going to our wedding and is all sweet to us but I just found out today that she is complaining to other people behind our back that she CANNOT understand why we are having a DW cause no one is going to come . FI has been great about the whole thing telling me it is our day not hers so ignore her and he knows she is out of control (love him!) I was so pissed off when I found out! Anyway, FI and I are having a sit down with her tonight during dinner. ~Denise

Hi Everyone! So after much going back and forth as well as arguments with family, FI and I are getting married on May 31, 2007 at the Excellence. We orginally planned for FEB 2008 but I am not one that likes to plan something one year in advance, timing of AHR as well as other issues and every month had some issue that required us to say let's just do it this May! It is crazy that I was planning on getting married next year and now I am getting married in less than 3 months! So I really gotta put the pedddle to the metal I have booked the date with the WC so this is it! At least the AHR won't be until late June/July so I can concentrate on Mexico wedding stuff first. I hope I do not turn into a crazy bride to be from now until then. ~Denise PS. I am going to need you girls more than ever

Hi Girls! I have been looking for a wedding planner/organizer (those big binders look so cumbersome!) and wondering which one is the most helpful? Thanks! Denise

Hi Girls! I feel the same way about the $ too. My fiance is on the police force and is working crazy hours and I work full time and teach 3 yoga classes a week but trying to figure out what else I can do. We are paying for the DW and reception at home and have to really budget which is hard cause I am not good about saving $$. I think I may have to splurge on a photographer-see, told you I am not good at budgeting! -Denise

Hi Girls! Tammy, I orginally wanted Las Caletas but my inlaws get really sick on boats and a 45 minute boat ride won't be pretty. Also, I am from the East Coast so the flight would be longer than the 4 hours to the Cancun area. Soulmates, where are you having your wedding? Okay, I think I am going towards The Excellence Resort. It is beautiful, all inclusive, and from what I hear their food is good too. Fi and I are meeting with his rents tonight to discuss who they think will actually come. I am hoping for a small # of people which is the only way I could have the wedding the Excellence.

This is resort tops my list! It looks amazing. We will probaly only have 10 people including Fi and myself (everyone else has blacklisted us due to DW) so my wedding will be very small and intimate. I am concerned about the food only cause all inclusives seem to have that sterotype of being mediocre but this resort looks very classy and top notch.

Hi Girls, I am still deciding where I am going to get married in Mexico but FYI I was recently in Mexico (FEB 11-16, 2006)and stayed at the Grand Palladium. A very nice resort with some flaws here and there but still a good resort. Not sure if anyone is interested in getting married at the gazebo but here is my take on it: My FI and I walked by it everyday during our vacation and it smelled like pee. Maybe because it is right next to a swampy area but it was gross. The gazebo itself was pretty (i saw a wedding set up there one day) the beach background was okay as that end of the beach was rocky and it looked rocky and the swampy area has dead-maybe not dead but very bare branches and bushes. Also that area of the beach is very crowded. I have some pics that I could email if you are interested in seeing the resort and etc. Hope this review does not bumm anyone! Maybe the smell is gone now:)))) -DENISE

Very small intimate weddings?
DEE1978 replied to DEE1978's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
Sorry about the typos. When I start typing, I can't stop and recheck. Anyway, I was in Mexico from recently, Feb 11-16, and stayed at the Grand Palladium. We walked by the gazebo everyday and it always smelled like pee! Their beach was really nice though. I have seen MS dresses in some mags and they are VERY nice! My Jcrew dress was only $250 on sale so I figure why not get now. I am trying to be economical about everything nowadays. Maybe I can splurge on photography:) -
Very small intimate weddings?

OH, western ma is so nice and peaceful! I have no parking in Boston and crazy big big construction noise. We are in for a big storm tomorrow...I assume you will be hit hard in western ma. I go to tripadvisor alot too..maybe too much like this addicting site. I was in Mexico about 2 weeks and did not even think about having our wedding there until we got back. We stayed at the Palladium which was nice but far from the airport and did not have good food. The gazebo smelled like pee. Anyway, enough of that. What kind of dress do you want? -

Do you have any actual candid pics of the gazebo? I have tried to open some of the threads with pics, prices, bouquet, and cakes but I do not have enough points. Would you please be to email that to me? [email protected] THANKS SO MUCH! -

Thanks so much for the awesome details, Jill! Did you do a scouting trip at the hotel? Yeah, we are paying for the wedding ourselves too but inlaws will help with reception. Funny...I have no idea where I will have the wedding in Febb 2008 but my wedding dress arrived in the mail today. I got a fab dress from jcrew that was on sale:0 BTW...What part of Ma are you from? I am orginally from waltham but now live in town (boston). -

Thanks Glenda and Jilly! The inlaws think we should attach a letter with the invites telling the guests we do not expect them to go out of their way etc...ugh. The thing is we comprised cause we are having a DW and reception in Boston so I do not know what the grumbling is about. You both are having your weddings at the Dreams but in different places...I am actually interested in the Dreams Cancun. Jilly, are you having your wedding the Gazebo or beach? I too will probaly end having a dinner not reception. How does that work? Can you be seated in a private area of the restaurant? How is the food? Is the beach nice? I have looked at so many hotels that I do not remember what has what. -
Hi Tsleege! Thanks so much for your helpful budgeting!!! I am not very good with budgets Anyway, if I only have 10 people, I would really love to have it at a really nice resort with great food but if I end up having more...the budget option is the way to go. I will look into the Gran Bahia AKUMAL...any other suggestions for upscale hotel with a swimable beach? THANKS SOOOOOOO MUCH! -Denise

Very small intimate weddings?
DEE1978 replied to DEE1978's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
As of right now, I know 4 people coming. Where you ask? I still do not know. SO far, I am interested in: JW Marriot, Excellence, Aventura Spa and maybe el dorado. I really want an intimate beach wedding at a hotel that has a great swimable beach and great food. I like the packages that the hotels are offering and they seem especially appealing in the $ dept if we only have 10 people. But here is my wedding drama: My In Laws want FI and I to KNOW not many people will come to Mexico and they think it is RUDE for us to have a destination wedding when we have so many friends and fam in Boston that would love to see us married. They have tried to get us to look into Bermuda which is not our style. Did you girls have the same crazy drama? -

Tammy, who are you using? Tammy, I know I has seen your post but where are you getting married? My FI has already said he does not want to spend alot of $$$ of a photography, me on the other hand.... Maybe I will pay for the photographer myself and not tell him till it is all said and done-hehe. That will not go over to well. We do not know if we will have 5 guests or 20 guests actually attend our DW, where it will be, so I am totally not thinking straight by doing the other stuff. -

Thanks for the info, girls! I think I want a 3pm ceremony and then dinner-of course I am still trying to figure out where on RM... Leigh, I LOVE LOVE your work! I am going to talk to my FI and see what I can spend on photography. -
Hi Girls! Is anyone planning a really small wedding with 5-10 people? What are you planning? Cermony and dinner no cocktail hour? I do not know what a very small destination should really entail... Thanks!!!
